SweetPeaSue your GP surgery doesn't sound very good . I hope the new antibiotics work - of course, you must know that some antibiotics cause diarrhoea (they kill the good bacteria in the gut), so I hope your recent bout is "only" due to that. The chemist would be able to advise you on what to take to counteract that, perhaps.

I was meant to be going on a day trip with the day centre today, but just couldn't be bothered so I let them know. I find that I get a lot of post-stroke fatigue (though I hate to admit it), so when I've had a day or 2 of going out/doing things/being active, I'm very tired the next day. I'm going to have a lazy day at home with the boy x

Annie I feel awful. Wallowing in my own worries I forgot to ask you how the physio went. So sorry x

Well I phoned surgery this morning. I took my bp first thing and it was 163 . I’ve got an appointment with nurse today to check it. It’ll probably be normal when I go!!!

Saw physiotherapist yesterday, nothing can be done for the ankle, it has weakened because it has taken my weight for some
years, left leg badly twisted for some years, to get on my wheelchair I have to shuffle along the sofa to get to it, have to
use my hands because cannot put feet to floor, hands badly
twisted too. I am not giving up the wheelchair so am now working out how to have wheelchair closer , difficult because I
need my large coffee table next to me for all my daily needs
piled on it by my carer. I will find a way ?

Anniebach Thank you. So the Physiotherapist cannot do anything? That's no good, how do they expect you to get around? You can't just sit in a chair all day. Is there any way you could have 2 carers at a time, instead of the one? You'd be able to have things like a rotunda, perhaps? Your carer does sound marvellous, dedicated and prepared to go above her duties x

Hello everyone. Thank you all for you kind words and thoughts. It's appreciated. Sadly I have no family close by. On days when I am not working we are doing things together. Last week I took him to his first and sadly last spa day. He loved it. He has an op on Monday and he will have a permanent tube in his stomach for dialysis so he won't be allowed to go again. We also spent 4 days in Brighton last month. Things like that to make memories. I'm a tough old bird ill be ok. I have my animals including my new chick called chica until we know what sex it is. I go and cuddle it so it gets used to being handled

Oh Nanny What a beautiful yet poignant post. I'm really sorry for the situation your husband and yourself are in and am pleased you are spending some good times together like your Brighton trip and Spa Day. You say you are working so I hope this helps at times and that you like your work. It is must be very hard not having family close by to turn to and I'm really sorry about that too. How wonderful that you can gain much love and joy from your animals. Chica sounds sweet. How do you go about finding the sex of a chick? That has me wondering.

*Anniebach *Yes thankyou, antibiotics have kicked in now thank goodness. Must be the best and most valuable drug (provided used wisely) that has been discovered.
I'm so disappointed about the result from your Physio appt. Like HVDY, I'm amazed that there's nothing that can be done. You sound in such a bad way with your legs and hands. If anyone can 'find a way' I'm sure it's you Annie. But you need more help. Thank goodness for the lovely carer that you do have. I wonder if she can offer any ideas. What a predicament.

I wish I could magic some wonder device to help you with your wheelchair. Is there any kind of hoist available that could lift you into it?
Ellie Anne your post made me laugh when you said your Bp would be normal when you go to Nurse. DH has normal BP at home but astronomical when anyone else takes it. He has white coat hypertension and it’s a big problem. Hope you get checked over well.

Scaredycat DH and I went for a walk in town today to the post office. We still wear masks but we were the only ones ?
It was so warm but overcast so not too hot. I went into M&S but couldn’t find anything I wanted. Was looking for a short sleeve shirt for DH but they don’t seem to sell them anymore.

DoodleYes, I had a lazy day with my best boy [ smile]. He yells a lot (he's deaf so his voice is very loud) when he wants something, and he doesn't give up until I give in to his demands . He loves to lie across my (very ample) bosom, and he did that earlier. Silly boy. I got my husband some nice short-sleeved shirts from Next recently.
SweetPeaSue Thank goodness the antibiotics are now having some effect. I hope you can get a decent night's sleep.
All on BD Hope you all have a good sleep tonight. I'm alone this evening - DH has gone to see a couple of friends for a drink (he's driving so it'll be soft drinks) and Son1 is at Son2's house. x

Dr appointment didn’t go well. The nurse said she only checks bp if asked by a clinician. I explained that the lady on the phone had given me the appointment when I’d explained the situation. She very grudgingly took it said it was borderline high and I should see a clinician if I wanted more information as they might want to do ecg or blood tests. If she’d bothered to check she’d know I’d had that already. My bp in surgery was 155 and at home it’s been 163 . She was running very late so was probably stressed and thought I was a time waster. Dreading next appointment but going to keep it anyway because head still swimming.

Thank you for suggestions re wheelchair. May I explain ?

I have arthritis in wrists, hands, hips, one knee causing one leg
very twisted. Nothing can be done for hands and wrists, 2 hip
and 1 knee replacement is a no no. It’s constant pain but have to put up with it.
Carers, there is a choice , private which I have is £15 an hour, couldn’t afford two carers, £30 a day ! Council carers, no choice
a time table is posted for the week, states what time and name of carer, never the same carer in each week, , one gets who is sent. If I decided to ask for help to get to bed the latest would be 7.30pm ! So that’s it. My younger daughter has found a carer
to come in on Sunday so that will help, most private carer don’t
work weekends.
I am searching on disability sites for aids so I can get into
wheelchair, I will find something.

What is embarrassing is being asked by council social services
what family do you have locally, this is a small market town, everyone knows everyone, I reply ‘no family’, so not true,I have
3 sisters, 3 brothers in law, 1 brother,1 sister in law, nieces and
nephews, no way am I going to explain why I have no contact with them it would involve my darling Catherine.

Ellie Anne what a shame the nurse couldn’t be more thoughtful. I’m please you are determined to keep your next appointment. Don’t be put off by the nurses manner. You need to know what’s causing the head swimming.
Annie I can understand why you prefer a routine to you care rather than never knowing when someone is going to turn up (or even if they will turn up). Glad you have such a lovely carer.
Also pleased you have someone coming in on Sundays.
I cannot understand how you cope really. All that pain and so little help. I doubt it will be of any use but would a swivel cushion help you turn round and position you for the wheelchair?

Anniebach You are so brave and so uncomplaining, you have such a lot to cope with. How about a "banana board"? So-called because it's curved like a banana. These boards fit so that each end is on a surface (say chair and wheelchair, or settee and chair) and the person sits on and slides along it

Glad the antibiotics are kicking in sweetpeasue don't forget your prebiotics

How is everyone today? I did my good deed for the day - went with my brother (75) to his hospital appointment. He's got a hernia and will need to have surgery. It will be early next year, they said.

My brother just rang me - he's having his hernia operation on 6th September! Amazingly quick! They're going to do it as day surgery, send him home the same day, on condition that someone stays at his house that night - guess who that's going to be

EllieAnne- that nurse sounds so unpleasant. It doesn’t matter if she was late or stressed you deserve to be treated with kindness and not made to feel a nuisance. Yes you must keep the other appointment.
Annie- you are in such a difficult position and how you manage is incredible. Your carer is obviously just that- a very caring kind person and I,m glad you will now have someone coming on Sunday too. Hope she’s as nice as your weekday lady. I,m so sorry for,your family situation as well. If I was near I would love to help you as I am sure we all would. Xxxxx
VioletSky- what a lovely long visit from your son. That gives you
the opportunity to have nice relaxing times with him.
Love the tale of your cat in the garden- cats can take offence at the daftest things can’t they. Have you ever seen the videos of cats who are scared of cucumbers?
HVDY- glad you enjoyed your lazy day with MrC. Ithink you were due a rest as you have been pretty busy lately. Your batteries will be recharged. And MrC will be a happy boy.
SweetPeaSue- glad the antibiotics are helping you. Your surgery doesn’t sound very reassuring though- they don’t seem to get how awful you feel. Hope you are able to get some pain free rest.

Lovely that you have managed to do some nice things together. Can your family visit or are they too far away? Your animal’s obviously give you much pleasure- they always seem able to make us smile don’t they.

Thank you I have had a busy couple of days. One of my older DGD came with her little boy yesterday to stay the night and we had an evening out with her sisters and husbands and children and my daughter and SiL . It was chaos but lovely andwonderful to all be together.
We will have to wait til next year to see my son so must make the most of FaceTimes again.

Thankyou all for listening to my problems. I had an appt with the GP that I try to stick with. She understands the whole situation about last op. I feel incredibly lost that she retires at end of this month.
She has given me Diazepam short term u til my op so I can get by as my anxiety is off scale. The diarrhoea episode wasn't related to antibiotics.
Im certain that bowel and bladder problems are related to my uterus pain. It's impossible to relate here the complexity of it all. I just appreciate your support.
Have had a bad day emotionally but I know we all have many problems and we all get through day to day.
I do hope you can manage a way round the problems of getting into your wheelchair Annie. I so admire your courage and spirit. You are a real inspiration.

Its only fair to say, regarding the GP Surgery,it serves a huge area and mistakes are bound to occur at times. The GP I see is head of that surgery. Everyone will miss her. F2F appts have always been difficult to get there and I think it must be to do with the huge workload.

Scaredycat sounds like a lovely time with your DGD and family. How nice for you all to get together. I am so sorry you’re not going to see your son. You must be so disappointed but you are putting a brave face on.
Things are still causing me worry but I’m trying not to be anxious. I didn’t sleep well last night I think I was too stressed and it gave me a headache.
Sweetpeasue I can understand what you mean about anxiety being off the scale . I’ve been a bit like that the last couple of days. Isn’t it an awful feeling. I can’t take my mind off things but it must be harder for you because you have physical pain to do deal with too. Will the diazepam help you sleep do you think? Have you had it before?
I think the fact that we all have problems and worries binds us together in supporting each other. All our troubles are different but the result is the same. The worry about your GP leaving must be adding to it. I do hope someone takes over who you can talk to.
