This zinger of pain makes me cry out. Any ideas?

I will see the doctor if I can next week.

The affected area is on my left side, best described as where I put my knuckles where the side of my bra sits. The needle sharp pins and needles episodes only lasts about 5 seconds but it really hurts. It doesn’t happen every day and isn’t affected by breathing in or out. I have health anxiety at the best of times so this is worrying me. I’m hoping it’s just a trapped nerve or something.

Any thoughts on it? Have any of you ever experienced similar?
I will go to the doctor. And I will share with you next week what I’m told but in the meantime I thought I’d ask on her!

Home just now.
Saw GP she wasn’t sure what it might be. A trainee. Went to check. Said her differential diagnosis could be pneumothorax. Advised a chest X-ray at the walk in as if anything untoward can’t fly.

Walked to the hospital. Got there 5pm. Had bloods, ECG (normal) and a chest X-ray. Waited till 8:30pm (I was last one in the waiting room by then).

Doctor called me through. Upshot is I MIGHT have a blood clot on my lung so I’ve got to go to Wythenshawe hospital tomorrow for a scan. I’ve been given a script for blood thinners. Go for that at 8am in the.morning.

I’m super anxious now. Tea and toast. Will update you all tomorrow. x

Blimey FGT2! At least you’re being dealt with efficiently. I hope it doesn’t interfere with your Spanish plans.🌹

Thinking of you and hope you get a prompt diagnosis tomorrow.

Good job you got in so quickly FGT. fingers crossed for you.

The doctor said the test that wasn’t back from their lab was a D-Dimer. Would be high if it’s a clot. So basically neither they nor I know tonight. All the pharmacies were shut so I couldn’t get the prescription for blood thinner. I’m trying not to worry. The doctor said ‘if it’s not a blood clot it’s probably musculoskeletal-skeletal’.

I’ll hang onto that thought later while I’m trying to sleep.

Well, DH spent a night in hospital on monitors a few years ago, with a suspected heart attack.
That proved to be shingles.

I’m very impressed you’ve been so promptly, but hope you get some test tonight and get your answers tomorrow. X

I feel scared. Then calm.

mamaa Tue 29-Oct-24 22:56:54

Crikey FGT wasn’t expecting to read that in your update- I’d feel similar to how you’re feeling now- but the good thing is that the medics have been v thorough, and worse case scenario is treatable and can be sorted.
🤞🏻crossed though that it just muscular so you can still go to your happy place and not worry. Hope you can get some sleep tonight. xx

madalene Tue 29-Oct-24 23:43:01

Wythenshawe will sort you out. They’re an excellent hospital for those sort of conditions. Let’s hope it isn’t a clot anyway.
Good luck tomorrow flowers

Sounds like shingles to me -only a doctor can diagnose it .
Please get it treated as early as possible as it is so painful if not treated quickly .

Fingers crossed for you. At least you're being taken very seriously very quickly and being thoroughly tested.

Marydoll Wed 30-Oct-24 08:36:38

I had was tested, same as FT, for a possible clot in my lung. I had chest pain and breathlessness and was sent straight to hospital by a trainee GP. I think it is standard procedure, it has happened twice.
I had to wait in hospital for the results (four hours) and was not allowed to go home until the results came back.
I am clinging to the thought that they would not have allowed FGT to go home if they thought she was at seriousrisk. 🤞
