Hi there ,I'm in a bit if a state . I had my first mammogram 2 weeks ago and received a letter on Wednesday to say results are unclear and need more tests. I called the breast screening centre and asked why I have to come back . She said that there is a area they want to look at . Well I'm in a absolute state . Can't eat can't sleep. My appointment is on Monday. I don't feel any lumps or anything . I'm just so scared . The lady did say it could be absolutely nothing and it's common to get called back especially with the first one . Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

Hi ladies, I'm having a terrible time I'm just not coping very well. The wait is torture. I feel I'm going to have a breakdown. My family keep telling me it's going to be fine but they don't know that really. I'm just a mess xx

I am with you. You can do this. You are going to be ok. 🌹

Thank you again ladies I really appreciate the support so much .

Anxiety is a terrible thing and I really thought I had it under control a bit better till this happened 😕.

Mumoftwinboys I got recalled 3 years ago and like you I had numerous mammograms whilst at the clinic, ultra scan, they thought it was a cyst so drained it, then said it was not a cyst so had to have the biopsy and then made a appointment to go back for results. They actual phoned me before my appointment and said it was a fibroadenoma which is a benign lump and did not need anything doing. Such a relief as I had thought the worst. I hope yours is some like a fibroadenoma and nothing more. Thinking of you

Hi PinkSweetPea thank you for taking the time to reply. It's a terrible experience isn't it. Did they say to you the area was suspicious? My worry is because I have a face 2 face appointment and they don't call me its probably bad news . As I'm not sure how they work xx

PinkSweetPea Thu 14-Nov-24 19:10:38

I cannot remember if they did say suspicious, they just said it was not a cyst like they thought. When they phoned me they did offer me to keep my appointment if I wanted to if I had any questions but the lady had explained it all on the phone so I declined the appointment. That was 3 years ago so it may be different now with cutbacks etc.

Just because you’re having a face2face appointment doesn’t mean it’s bad news. I had an appointment with the Consultant. He saw me and told me that it was a cyst, which was drained. Please don’t worry. Take the good advice given by others and be positive.

Mumoftwinboys Thu 14-Nov-24 19:49:26

PinkSweetPea thank you xx
crazyH cysts were already drained at the appointment . So was yours drained at the results appointment? Or already drained at the appointment you had the tests done ?

Marydoll Thu 14-Nov-24 19:53:53

My worry is because I have a face 2 face appointment and they don't call me its probably bad news .

Twice it was cysts I had, they were drained there and then at the face to face appointment.
On one occasion, the doctor walked in and said: I thought it was you MD, do you wish to make an appointment with someone else, because I know you.
I declined, I just wanted it sorted ASAP.

Thanks Marydoll I'm glad it turned out just to be cysts . The waiting is hell xx

Hi ladies, I had a phone call a wee while ago . It's good news it was completely healthy breast tissue. I do have some cysts but the bit they biopsied was totally normal tissue.

I am relieved beyond words. When the Doctor called I near had a heart attack and I must have sounded like a complete looney on the phone. I was over breathing and sobbing with releif then cut her off by mistake. I had to take a valium to calm me down after.

I just want to say thank you so so much for taking the time to respond to my post and your kind words. It's very much appreciated. Xxxx

So pleased it was good news. I know the relief you will be feeling I’ve been through that myself.

I had a routine mammogram in September... another mammogram 3 weeks later with biopsy which came back as cancer. 2 weeks later I had a wide excision of the cancer as a lumpectomy, this conserves the breast, and 4 lymph nodes removed. They know which nodes to remove using a magtrace... its an amazing way of telling which nodes the cancer will head for... if caught in time having the nodes removed will stop the cancer going elsewhere. Today I went to my follow up.... all the cancer has been removed, lymph nodes were clear. I am so pleased to say that without that mammogram I would not have known I had cancer as the cancer was not palpable. The mammogram caught the cancer really early. I know you will worry all the way through but, even if there is a worse outcome, you have a great chance of everything turning out well because of early detection. I now am going for 5 days of radiotherapy and then hormone treatment with annual mammograms. My way of coping was to go to sleep or keep really busy. Good luck, i will be thinking of you.... try to rest. X

Just read your message.... so pleased you are OK. I hope others in the same situation find some help in all the advice given.

And breathe! What a relief. I went through similar. I have a breast “mouse” seemingly which is benign.

PinkSweetPea Mon 18-Nov-24 16:36:38

That's great news you must be so relieved, I know I was when I got my phone call. xx

escaped Mon 18-Nov-24 16:37:25

That's great news, Mumoftwinboys. I'm not surprised you dropped the phone or whatever to the doctor! Enjoy a small glass of something to celebrate.
I had been thinking of you. Coincidentally I had my results today in the post, the same as lemsip, no sign of cancer. I was surprised, but happy, as usually I am recalled for more films and an ultrasound. We can all be thankful for the breast screening programme.

Mumoftwinboys Mon 18-Nov-24 16:50:04

Lucyloo12 , I am so glad everything has worked out okay and I'm sure it must have been a awful shock when you were diagnosed but thank goodness they caught it early . I wish you all the best in your journey . ❤️

Grandmadinosaur thank you so much xx

And Lucyloo, glad things went well for you.

I am so relieved for you. 💐

shysal Mon 18-Nov-24 18:04:18

Pleased you had a happy outcome, Mumoftwinboys

Lucyloo, I am so glad you have posted, I have been wondering how you were getting on. I am in the same position, except that the excised lump unexpectedly showed grade 3, but completely removed and lymph nodes clear. I am due RT soon, one 5-day week followed by another boosted week.

supergirlsnan Mon 18-Nov-24 18:06:54
