to continue and to get a flavour of this long term space.

*Welcome to Black Dogs 28*:

Its supporting those of us who wish to talk about our mental health problems quite deeply at times: and share aspects of our lives supportively, give and take support.

All are welcome: don't be put off by some of us being there long term, people do come and go.

Sorry I didn't catch up on others last night, too tired. I had a long sleep and woke up aching in unusual heaving children around places.

HVDY yes pizzas picnic style on floor. 9 year old M knows what L needs and can translate her speech when it's not clear but she has not been made to "feel responsible".
7 yr old A is naughty and attention seeking at times because of the time L takes up, but will have to grow into acceptance that things are, as they are. (at a guess, 50%-60% of parent time - its not easy for the other kids).

But the family have started buying in more caring to take L for whole days - it needs 2 carers now.

Sweetpeasue I think maybe you will need to let the idea of this car go - you never know, it still might be on sale when DH feels up to it.

It's understandable he feels as he does. I can imagine knowing there is something inside very significant not working properly = but not sure what it is xx

Well, I hope you got a decent chunk of Newstead Abbey in before it poured, HVDY - it's such a lovely place, I think it would be my "go to place" - but how long does it take to drive there?

I hope today is a little better nadateturbe, do say how it has gone for you.

Doodle a three bearded day....well beards are the fashion atm, aren't they? I'm glad you had the bonus. I hope church is rewarding today.

Scaredycat people are right, I think I would have placed you at my age! I was interested in the healing spa you went to - you instinctively choose well even in the toughest times - I learn from you. x

Be nice to hear from other BD's, when you feel ready to come in x

EllieAnne Sun 01-Feb-26 10:42:57

Went to church but had to come out because of tickly cough.going to sit in costa till it’s my usual time for going home

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 01-Feb-26 12:02:52

Wyllow3 I love pizza, but only vegetable ones, or the home-made ones Son1 makes. Your 9 year old GD sounds very caring towards L. I think most 7 year old boys are "naughty", and he might well be missing a bit of attention. Perhaps he's just being a boy. Newstead Abbey is 7 miles up the road, so about 15 minutes in the car. My parents took me there (and to many other places) as a child, although they never had a car, so we used to get 2 buses.

It's a grey day. Apart from chores, I'm not doing much. I've been watching "Cat Man", a programme about cats, with David Baddiel. I didn't use to like him, but he's a cat lover, so he must be ok.

Scaredycat Sun 01-Feb-26 14:53:41

Hi all
Doodle- glad you enjoyed your lunch with your Sons and GS. Are their beards all the same colour? They sound lovely kind boys.
Don’t stop your wine and chocolate- it’s a lovely way to finish the day.A little of what you fancy eh!!
Hope the rain hasn’t spoilt your Morning Church- it has tipped it down all day here.
Wyllow- what a lovely, normal crazy day you all had. It must have been the sort of day you have missed so much. Noisy, busy and just a real family day.
Lovely to hear of L enjoying the water . It must be wonderful for her to feel that freedom.
Hope you all enjoyed your pizzas together too.
SweetPeaSue- Ah yes DiL s Mum will get comfort from having Fluffball to cuddle. Dogs are quite intuitive when people are not so well aren’t they.
Don’t worry bout your weight right now - you need to eat and keep your strength up. Your DH is amazing wanting to paint. I expect it’s been a good way to take his mind off Monday. I,m sure all will be fine and will be thinking of you both tomorrow.
Nadateturbe- sorry it was not such a good day yesterday. Hope today has been better.
HVDY- The Grammar schools are single sex ones so GGD and GGS will be at different schools in different parts of town.
Goodness that must have been a scary moment when the horse hit your car. We have quite a lot of horses come through our narrow village street and I,m always glad when they have passed by my car.
Nice day for you yesterday- good you got your walk in before the rain. I went for a walk with DD under a giant umbrella this morning- Costas was beckoning .

Love to all- often think of those we haven’t seen for ages.

Sweetpeasue Sun 01-Feb-26 16:33:07

Wyllow So glad yesterday went so well ( despite 'chaotic start). DGD and DGS will be so used to Ls disabilities and it must have been nice to see them helping and knowing when to step in , as when her speech wasnt understood. Could be your DGS is at the age for being mischievous - my youngest was very boisterous at that age. Kids love pizza dont they? You will be tired after all that but glad to have seen them.
ScaredycatDH bought the paint but not for painting right now- hes given it a rest , though hes been sorting out his tools and stuff today. Must be lovely to have a DD to go for a coffee with - Id love that.
HVDY It was a little scary but I could see him backing up and felt frozen as I knew what was going to happen. Nothing as scary as the horse rearing up though - theyre so big compared to cars - I think the riders must be very brave to go into traffic like that but that rider was rude just to go off without an apology.
EllieAnne Hope that cough has settled. It must have felt a bit embarrassing when it started in church. Glad there was a Costa nearby to retreat to.
DoodleNadateturbe Hope youve been OK today.
Thankyou for all your thoughts .
Tomorrow a bit different to last procedure as we knew then that a stent would be inserted. It depends on what they see tomorrow when they put dye in as to what they intend to do. Just hope DH will get better afterwards.

Love to all - its such a kind place here.x

Doodle Sun 01-Feb-26 20:33:31

HVDY my DH used to work with David Baddiels father when they were both young.
Sweetpeasue praying for a good day for your Dh tomorrow. Hope the outcome is beneficial to him.
Wyllow you sound exhausted after your day with the children but I bet you loved it.
Scaredycat my sons both have grey in their beards now but not so grandson. Mind you he’s only 22 🤣
Ellie Anne sorry about your cold and cough. Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry short post tonight I’ve been at church and didn’t get home till late.

Wyllow3 Sun 01-Feb-26 21:25:06

All fingers and toes and prayers for DH tomorrow Sweetpeasue, that its a helpful test that gives really useful treatment information.

Fifteen minutes in the car is just a bit over me going to the Bot Gardens, HVDY, not far at all for you really.

The 7 yr old grandson is being more than naughty - there is talk of ADHD diagnosis at school and so on, but I do think its partially related to lack of parent time possible at home to some extent. Well and just his character - very very bright, but doesn't want to apply himself to the details in order to learn, and I agree thats more often in boys.

It's so difficult getting a really bad cough and it just not going away, Ellie Anne. Onne is just aware it makes it difficult for others. I hope it doesn last long.

How old are your sons, Doodle? My DS is nearly 45 and yes some pepper and salt hair wise. Can they really be that old....I was starting a part time art degree at 46 ...where DID the time go!!!

Costa is great for friendly coffee Scaredycat, nice atmosphere well laid out and often spacious, but the food is not too great and very expensive!

I went to Quakers, it was interesting today, I know some of them there were thinking "whats happening with MrA" but didnt engage with that and didnt stay for the shared lunch. (it should all come to a head this week and be sorted)

I was all talked out already anyway after yesterday, and wanted to so a short gym because I have neglected some important exercises (the tablets I''m on long term mean I really have to do some exercises or lose bladder control and similar) and I have put on weight too, which I mind, as I eat very little, its the tablets again.

Well, then there are the natters......😊

Came home for a sleep and some tidying of the craft room which had had a hurricane attack yesterday.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 01-Feb-26 21:27:13

ScaredyCat Ah, I see, about the different schools. Do they/will they get the bus there, or a lift?
SweetpeaSue Best of luck for your husband tomorrow. Hope all goes well.
Doodle That's interesting. What job did they do? Glad you had a busy day at church.
EllieAnne Have something nice to drink tonight. That will stop a cough.

Not been out today, so did things at home. LG tomorrow. Hope everyone has a restful night x

nadateturbe Sun 01-Feb-26 22:10:12

Sweetpeasue I've missed something. I thought tomorrow was the stent op?
Don't worry about the car. If you don't get this, there'll be another.
Will be thinking about you and your dear husband tomorrow. And praying.x

nadateturbe Sun 01-Feb-26 22:12:02

I'm catching up on last few days posts, hopefully chat in the morning.
Hope today has been as good as possible.
Wishing you all a peaceful night.x

EllieAnne Sun 01-Feb-26 23:42:35

Wyllow are your botanic gardens the ones with the bear?
Hvdy I’ve gone to bed with a large whisky. Hopefully it will help the cough and help me sleep.

Sweetpeasue Mon 02-Feb-26 07:22:04

We were told that DH will have an Angiogram and they put dye in to see which arteries are bad. We already know there's diffuse plaque in them by a different scan. They will then put a stent in at the same time or if they think he needs more than that ,ike a bi-pass, hed have to go in again.
Thanks Nadateturbe and all. Hes just left with son. Thank goodness for mobile phones.
Hope everyone has best day they can. X

EllieAnne Mon 02-Feb-26 08:24:48

Thinking of you both sweet pea sue

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Feb-26 08:50:39

EllieAnne

Wyllow are your botanic gardens the ones with the bear?
Hvdy I’ve gone to bed with a large whisky. Hopefully it will help the cough and help me sleep.

Yes, Ellie Anne, how did you know? ☺️ The actual original bear pit since it was built in the 1830's.

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Feb-26 08:52:00

Sweetpeasue, have lit a candle...I am so glad your son can step up to this and will be checking in to see when you get some news xx

Sweetpeasue Mon 02-Feb-26 09:17:56

Thankyou EllieAnne You get well quickly.x
Thats so lovely of you Wyllow ❤️

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Feb-26 09:31:23

❤️

EllieAnne Mon 02-Feb-26 13:56:51

Wyllow I ve recognised some of the places you have mentioned because my daughter lived in chapel town for a while and we went out and about a bit. We visited the botanical gardens and I was well impressed with the bear 🐻🐻🐻
She’s in a different part of Yorkshire now.
I finally got to the woods this morning to see the snowdrops. Still coughing but much better.

Sweetpeasue Mon 02-Feb-26 15:50:56

Those snowdrops are amazing EllieAnne Ive never seen so many altogether like that. Thankyou.

DH * still* waiting to go down. Been there since 8.

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Feb-26 15:52:31

Oh my! what a feast of snowdrops Ellie Anne I'm going to keep that picture of the masses of them in the woods. I'm glad your coughing is easing.

I had a very, very bad time in the night again (suicidal thoughts for a few hours) re MrA and identified why:

and am taking action on that part when I see the safeguarding people after MrA has signed off on the document (it does seem likely tho not definite he will sign after asking to Quaker friend F this morning).

Basically the idea of sitting down in a room with him makes me feel physically sick, and I can't say I'm too keen on watching the "big comeback welcome" as most people in the room wont know why he has been absent

Since I've been told "it's my decision" I shall take the dilemma to Safeguarding on Saturday (all being well and MrA signed) and let them have to actually do something about it for once. (yes, that had a strong sarcastic tone)

any news, Sweetpeasue

Sweetpeasue Mon 02-Feb-26 17:39:02

DH has just rang. Just came back he has had 2 stents put in arteries and another 'wired' thing to open another artery.
Will pick him up with son after a few hrs. He'll be on blood thinners for quite a while.
I just feel like crying. Had texts from him that he seemed to think they wouldnt do anything and would say he wasn't bad enough. So many mistakes before this made. Id been thinking - where on earth do we go next if they didnt address it.
Im just so relieved. He'll need to go very easy for a while - dont want anything to happen now.
Thankyou all for best wishes and prayers.xxxx

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Feb-26 18:20:51

Cry away! what a relief. The problem areas clearly showed up, and appropriate action taken, right away.

I can understand his despondency at one point. They were probably discussing best approaches and arranging it all, but things have been unforthcoming for too long. Remember the great nurse you saw, not so long ago, and make sure you get name (s) and numbers to ring "if we get really worried", yes?

nadateturbe Mon 02-Feb-26 18:59:54

Good news Sweetpeasue. Sending hugs.x

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 02-Feb-26 19:19:55

EllieAnne What beautiful photos. Snowdrops are so lovely. I hope the whisky last night helped you to sleep.

SweetpeaSue I'm so pleased everything went well for your husband. He'll need to take things easy now, for a while. He might be put on Clopidogrel, an antiplatelet tablet (I've been on that since the stroke). Fingers crossed that he'll notice a real difference and will start to feel better soon.

Wyllow3 The MrA business has consumed you, hasn't it? I do hope those horrible suicidal thoughts go away

Lovely day with LG. Roleplay/softplay place, then we fed the ducks etc., then had a play at home. Hope everyone has been ok x

Sweetpeasue Mon 02-Feb-26 19:34:32

Wyllow Sorry you had such an awful night . I really hope you get some reassurance from the Safeguarding people on Saturday.
Yes I'll certainly call for help for DH if concerned about anything.
Nadateturbe Thanks for your lively hugs. Hope youve been OK.
HVDY What a full day youve had with LG. She' must love coming to you.
Yes DH is being put on blood thinners now- think its to help prevent clots forming around the stents.
Picking him up at half 8. Its been a long
day.
Love to all.x
