I have one ankle that swells in the hot weather. The doctor said if both ankles were swelling that is more serious.

I know to elevate the ankle is a good idea. Any other methods to improve things please ?

Get a cooling spray. Feels lovely

Yesterday my left foot and ankle swelled up until the skin was tight. I only noticed it because my sandal was feeling slightly uncomfortable. It has never happened before!

The right foot was completely unaffected. I ran some cold water over the fat foot before propping it up on the coffee table. When I went to bed a bit later, I had the foot slightly elevated and sometime during the night the swelling disappeared. I haven't noticed any problem today. A quick Google does mention that DVT can be a cause of one-sided swelling but in my case it was (hopefully) sitting too long because of the excessive heat in the afternoon.

I get up in the mornings with my leg swollen.
I must be very active in my sleep, i guess. cos I'm certainly not in the day

On holiday recently, in the heat and walking more than normally, my feet and ankles became really swollen. I wore flip-flops for a fortnight as none of the shoes or sandals I'd brought with me would fit.

A friend mentioned medication and I discovered the blood pressure tablet I take every day has swollen ankles and feet as a common side effect.

I was prescribed Amlodopine a few months ago as my blood pressure was " borderline" high. Seems strange that while I was much more active than normal my feet and ankles reacted. I'd imagine that sitting too I much might cause it, but not doing thousands of steps every day! (A holiday which was knackering rather than restful. Big mistake!)

Problem has vanished now I'm home, it's colder and I'm less active. It's certainly a very uncomfortable condition.

Will rose, red or white do instead of water? Does it have the same effect? I do hope so!!!!!
