Dettol say "To celebrate the launch of Dettol’s new Power and Pure range we’d like to introduce our new campaign 'Make Cleaning Child’s Play' – there is a lovely competition which you and your grandchildren are welcome to enter on Mumsnet - for more information please see here"

All testers who add their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £30 John Lewis voucher.

So if you are a tester please tell us:

What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray? What did you like the most about it? Was there anything you didn’t like?

Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?

What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?

Did you use Dettol Power and Pure kitchen spray in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?

Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Dettol Power and Pure to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

i liked the fact that it didn't smell too strongly, and it certainly didn't smell of chemicals.

it cleaned perfectly well and i would recommend it to a friend.

i expect it's a bit pricey though, as it's a brand. i do tend to stick to shop's own just because of the price.

One of the reasons I wanted to try the new spray was the way that my kitchen surfaces stained really badly. I've just noticed that, since I used it they don't seem to stain.

I thought the Dettol Power and Pure compared well with the products I usually use and I really liked the smell.

I thought it cleaned as well as the supermarket products I tend to use.

I really like the smell and did not notice any residue

I used it on the bath instead of my ususal bathroom product with good results

I would definitely use again if the price is competitive

I have already recommended it to my daughter and cousin.

I liked the Dettol Power and Pure spray cleaner. It was easy to use and gave a good amount of spray. I particularly like the smell, made my kitchen smell fresh. There was nothing I disliked, although my husband found the smell rather flowery.
I normally use Dettox, but am not so keen on the smell. I prefer Power and Pure.
Cleaning performance was good, but I still need a specialist degreaser for stubborn stains.
I used the spray every night to soak my cleaning cloths and put them in the microwave for thirty seconds, no nasty smells in the morning, but bleach gets them cleaner. However, I prefer the Power and Pure because I don't have to wear gloves.
I also used the spray to clean some plastic toys and board books given to me by a friend, felt happy about the cleanliness aspect on baby toys.
Will use this again and have recommended it to my daughter in law.

Just adding to this, as I actually found it in the supermarket the other day, and bought it. Yes, it was a bit more expensive, but both Mr Phoenix and I were very impressed with it.

I wish it was a little bit thicker though, as when using it on the outside of the fridge feezer it was very runny.

Another comment! With other pump action spray cleaners, I have always transferred the remaining small amount from the old bottle into the new one.

I don't seem to be able to do this with Power & Pure, as the top doesn't seem to unscrew.

Gosh, is this thread still running??! I am getting used to the smell and will use it as I have got it, but more often than not use Dettol anti-b wipes especially if the boys are likely to be here. I also use them for door handles, light switches, loo flushes anywhere where I think DH might pick up bugs.

My wife used this cleaning spray for the first time today and was upset to find that the white enamel bath had developed a yellow colour which required a slightly abrasive cleaning agent The Pink Stuff The Miracle Paste Cleaner for its removal.

Can you comment on this?

I looked for an e mail address to send this to Dettol UK at but did not succeed hence my using you for this information. I think that the discolouration caused her such a degree of difficulty that she will be a little wary of using it again.
