My almost ten year old AEG developed a leak underneath. I checked the hose connections but all seemed fine so called their service dept. They could not visit for 7 says so I called a local service company that dealt with AEG. They came the next day gave it a very thorough check and rang me the next day to say the part required was no longer available. I have checked this with AEG spares and sadly they were right. The new version of my slimline machine is somewhere between £600 and £700 and at my age I doubt if I will looking at using it for very long, a couple of years at most. Has anyone experience of any of the cheaper makes and is there one they would recommend?

When we married our first home was a rented flat in Pinfold Road, almost opposite Pratts. I opened an account with John Lewis, so I could go in, buy something and say, 'charge it to my account'. It sounded so grand (well, it did to me) and was one of those things that told me that I was now an independent adult with a proper job and a proper home.
