Do you check you supermarket receipt?

I would urge everyone to go through their food bill from the supermarket.

In Morrisons two weeks ago I was charged twice for an item. In Sainsburys today loose potatoes stated £1 per kg on the shelf. I queried the £1.50 per kg which came up on my receipt. The girl said she only had two prices to choose from and neither was £1 per kg. I went to customer services took the assistant to the shelf and got a refund.

These huge organisations are fleecing us by stealth. It is up to all of us personally to make sure we not being overcharged.

I wonder how many check the receipt and realise they have underpaid and go back to correct. Generally I must say I do not check- as I'm sure it evens out in the end. Life's too short.

To help me check I always make sure if say it is two items bogoff or half price, I put them together on the belt so they go through together. This way they are highlighted on the bill as two items and easy to spot.

Yes, and I have found mistakes.

Always check if you've got any cash back on a debit card that you haven't asked for. There is something that has been going on for ages where a cashier will add cash back if you pay by card & normally the next person to be served will be a friend of theirs so they pass them your cash back

I check all of my supermarket receipts now overthehill. I was recently charged for 100 lemons at Asda (I had 1) and have spotted more mistakes on my Morrisons receipts than I care to remember. The staff in Asda were quite apologetic (apparently the cashier had pressed 2 noughts by mistake, fair enough) but the customer services in Morrisons are terrible. They actually look at you as if to say "do you actually want a refund then" ?
