I came across this tip today: Keep brown sugar soft by putting a couple of marshmallows in with it.

Has anyone tried that? Does it work? I don't want to buy a whole bag of marshmallows for nothing grin

I have now tried this. It works! My rock-solid lump of muscovado is now usable . I am astonished.

Another tip.

I have a houseplant that always seems dry. I read somewhere to add a tiny amount of washing up liquid to the water you are watering it with and it holds the moisture in the pot.

I tried this and it does indeed work.
