Beware of Bosch

After just 10 months and under guarantee my expensive kettle, bought online from Bosch, developed a dodgy lid that repeatedly gets stuck and won’t open to let me fill with water. Spoke today to a very unhelpful Bosch employee who would only offer repair of the kettle provided I sent it to their workshop down south and waited 10-14 days for its return. If I had bought it in a local store I would have had an immediate replacement. Last time I buy Bosch products.

My husband was in the microelectronics business and told me many years ago that the quality had gone down since the manufacture moved to India. He said it was not worth paying the extra for a product no better than other less expensive products,

Bosch like many isn't what i used to be. I've had problems getting help with a repetitive fault on a vacuum and last year my Bosch dishwasher stopped dead a month out of guarantee and they said it was beyond repair. I kicked up a fuss and was offered £100 off a new one. I was less than impressed.

Witzend and anyone else struggling with the extra rinse/spin programme on new Bosch washing machines, my Dh found an easy way to make it spin-only.

Select the Rinse/spin option on the dial. On the panel to the right there should be an Aqua Plus sign lit up in red. Click on that, the sign will go out, then press start to spin.

HTH.

DH always insists on German or Korean engineering, he is an engineer and has worked a lot with engineers in both countries. The preference is for South Korean and after a disaster when a whole load of washing was ripped to shreds by my hotpoint I bought a Samsun, which I love. I have had it 5 years and it even sings me a little song when it completes the washing cycle

Sings M0nica! Sounds lovely hate all the bleeping from my machines. Can you select the tune? grin

Sadly no, but once the cycle ends it plays an excerpt from Shubert's 'The Trout' song or quintet, as you prefer.
