I have a shed 10‘ x 10‘ and not in bad condition, I thought!I had a guy come round from a shed company to see about doing the repairs and I’m having new windows doors and a roof however he did not pick up on the rotten wood at the bottom of the shed and I rang the company and was very peeved but it is what it is and I need to carry on. On the right side of the shed there about two panels of wood that are really rotten and a few along the front as well but the rest of the shed seems to be quite good condition. It is dry lined and has electricity. Anyway first thing to do is get all the rubbish out of it and my son is coming today to take rubbish to the tip so will see how it goes and keep you informed…. As you can imagine any advice very gratefully received(As long as it’s not burn it down and start again!!!?‍♀️) And inside the shed on the side where the rotten wood is the floor is quite damp so all in all I think this is going to be quite A big job…

Well we have 3 sheds to house all our stuff as we moved back to the house to share with our daughter and grandchildren.
One is a large old shed that definitely needs work. All the rain we have had means it's quite damp.I have been storing things in cardboard boxes but think it's a mistake as it acts like blotting paper. So back to plastic boxes.
Have my winter clothes survived?
Yesterday I found a Billy bookcase on Freecycle! Brilliant ! Ready assembled and free!
Yes would love to make that shed into a retreat/ sitting room.

Well watch this space loopyloo as from tomorrow I will be posting pictures on the progress of turning my old shed into a lovely new garden room….. hopefully everything goes according to plan ?

This is my challenge!

First thing I had to do obviously was declutter the shed, I got my son to go to the dump with a lot of it and then managed to squeeze the stuff that I need to keep into the smaller shed…. Really looking forward to tomorrow when I get the new door and window in, although the window is a non-opening one I have asked that they put some air vents in the shed/Garden room ?

Window out and all the rotten wood has been replaced around the outside of the shed ?

An exciting day for you Shinamae !
Hope it all goes to plan.
The beauty is it’s a shed so you don’t have to put up with any disruption in the house!

Oh it looks like it is a nice private spot too smile

Shinamae Wed 25-Aug-21 12:49:14

I'm loving watching your shed being made over ?

Our shed got demolished by falling branches from the tree behind. It was only small anyway, intended for holding gardening stuff, but the last time I went in there (some years ago) it was so thick with spiders webs that I never got past the door - all the gardening stuff just stayed there and I bought new ??

JaneJudge Wed 25-Aug-21 16:09:10

It's a lovely garden and very wildlife friendly smile

Shinamae Wed 25-Aug-21 16:59:34

Guys will be here between nine and 930 to finish off internally in the shed and finally to put the roof on then it should be done, then I’ve just got to pay for it ???????

Your cabin is looking great Shinamae. I cannot wait to see the finished sanctuary.

I always liked Geoff Hamilton garden programmes because he would make something from old things he had already, instead of buying new. Much more creative.

?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️ Just had a phone call and they are not coming again now till next Tuesday,I did say I was a bit annoyed about this as the guys yesterday did say they were coming back today but I think they’ve booked them in for another job today not realising my job would need another day so another week of waiting….?

lemongrove Thu 26-Aug-21 09:41:34

Just popped in to see how you’re getting on Shina ?
Progress! You need a quick trip to Brian Fords ( is it still going?) for pots of flowers for the outside.

.....blame Covid/Brexit/Boris Johnson it’s bound to be one or the other that’s caused them to cry off ?

Shinamae you’re revitalised shed looks brilliant, good decision.
Like a lot of tradesmen (people) they’re probably juggling a few jobs at the same time. It’s highly annoying, rarely does one job get started and finished on consecutive days.

Callistemon Thu 26-Aug-21 10:51:47

We're all waiting for opening day, Shinamae, hope it's not delayed too long
We have the ?? ready and waiting!

No I’m afraid Brian Fords hit the dust a few years ago. I have got a beautiful fuchsia that you cannot see that is growing from the wild garden through the fence and will be outside my garden room window …. I have picked the flooring for inside the shed (Note to self don’t keep calling it a shed it’s a garden room!!)

Inside of Shed ?‍♀️ Roll on Tuesday!

Shinamae Tue 31-Aug-21 11:00:47

I really can’t believe it, nobody turned up this morning so I rang the company and they were very apologetic and said that two of their men were off. Honestly I am getting sick of this now..?‍♀️
