Folding dry washing

Why didn’t I know these existed? Does everyone except me have one?

I bought a laundry folder from the bay of e, it arrived today. I’ve just folded all my newly laundered t-shirts and popped them in a neat little pile on a wardrobe shelf. It took about 5 minutes! I’ve been struggling for the past 18 years to fold laundry one-handed, it was difficult and painful and often ended in tears! Not anymore. I’m on a roll today grin

I use a Brabantia folder. The advantage, it seems to me, is that it folds everything to an identical shape, although a stiff piece of cardboard would do that too for free.

I have had one of these for several years and find it a great help. Especially when packing as you can use it for t shirts, blouses and men’s shirts and they all come out exactly the same size! Brilliant for the suitcase ?

Blossoming I don’t need one either but thanks for sharing. Can’t understand why some people can’t just read and pass by rather than being snippy. You have probably helped somebody showing this x

I'm guessing now that a few of us may be thinking of trying JackieB's technique or getting on You-Tube for folding tips. I'm off upstairs right now for a T shirt and might even grab a sheet while I'm up there.??

That would of been handy for my poor mum years ago as her fingers were like all curled up big fat sausages with arthritis. I had to cut up her dinner at times as they were so sore. We bought and tried anything to make her life easier.

I saw one on The Big Bang Theory. Don’t need one yet but you never know.

Thats where I first saw them too!!

Had one of these for 15+years got it to fold for packing for a long trip folded shirts like this for many years army training this just made it quicker

Callieston. Can you fold once then jam the end in a drawer then keep folding obviously moving the end jammed in the drawer each fold.
Uused to do this when my DH worked away and no one around to help

Mauriherb Fri 16-Jul-21 14:19:05

Thank you for this Blossoming. I've never heard of these but they sound like a brilliant idea particularly for those with disabilities. Also, at under £10 it sounds like a bargain x

muffinthemoo Fri 16-Jul-21 14:22:28

Blossoming I hate folding laundry so I have one of these things in adult size and one in kid size. It saves me time and grief doing a job I detest, so I second your recommendation!

I love gadgets, and the clothes would look so nice in the drawer. Just sent off for one. I love lolly moulds too. I made yoghurt and then mix with fruit to freeze

Why have you jumped on me Whiff? I’m not going to describe my impairments or what caused them, this isn’t a competition.

Sago if you can’t afford £10 then I’m very sorry but no need to sneer at me.

I was feeling quite pleased last night after finding something to make my life easier, I thought I would share it with fellow Grans. Wish I hadn’t bothered now.

Well I think it looks great - and I love Big Bang Theory too! To the people disparaging your purchase, boo to them. If you have found something that helps, great! I do my own ironing and all the tablecloths, but OH hates doing it. One of these gadgets would suit him perfectly.

Thank you Blossoming for sharing you find for folding dry clothes. Just the job for me as I ve recently broken my wrist. Hubby is great at pegging clothes on the line but not so good at folding.
I will definitely look for one

Brocky Fri 16-Jul-21 15:35:47

I would like to purchase laundry folder, where was it bought and price? It looks a great help. I have difficulty standing and folding laundered items is rather awkward to obtain the necessary neat folding, I would be very grateful to know how to buy one.

Blossoming Fri 16-Jul-21 15:48:39

Brocky I just searched for laundry folder on eBay, Amazon has them too.

Franbern Fri 16-Jul-21 15:57:19

Iam purchasing one, cheap to buy and looks nice and small to store. Wondering if I bought one of these for teenage g.children whether it might help to encourage them to actually fold their clean washing.

Azalea99 Fri 16-Jul-21 17:24:01

Brilliant, thanks. I like to get order little gadgets as stocking fillers, and this will be brilliant, particularly for my daughter-in-law

jenni123 Fri 16-Jul-21 17:52:40

I purchased one of these about 2 years ago. I used it a few times but it has been in my cupboard since then. I am very good at buying 'gadgets' that never or hardly ever get used.

Blossoming Fri 16-Jul-21 18:12:21

Mr. B does that jenni. I’m a lot more choosy nowadays and only buy things that I think I will actually use. It doesn’t always work out though!

tavimama Fri 16-Jul-21 19:09:49

Thank you for sharing this. My hands are worse than useless, and I have now ordered one, purely on your recommendation. I really don't understand why people have jumped all over this - I for one am grateful that you thought to share thanks

Im glad you have found something that helps you (and other people who struggle with folding washing). What a great gadget. You certainly don't have to describe your difficulties Its no one elses's business. Unfortunately some people on here think they can say what they like (and I'm sure it's the same on other sites). People can't see you, they are anonymous, and think they can say what they like. That's why I hardly ever comment. What's the point? You can have an opinion without being rude. Unfortunately some people need to learn manners and etiquette. Detracts from the nice people and nice comments.

I have been using one for over 5 years.
It`s brilliant and it makes life easier as i have a wrist problem.

I love gadgets that make life easier too. I also iron everything except underwear and towels.

Joni Sat 17-Jul-21 11:29:12

thanks Blossoming I'd never heard of this before, defo need to purchase, anything to save ironing .

Annana Sat 17-Jul-21 19:45:02

Thank-you ladies for your tips. I will certainly try them out as have been finding folding increasingly difficult with my painful arthritic finger joints;
Please do not stop providing useful suggestions. They are much appreciated.
