In urban areas, the albedo effect due to surrounding buildings can maintain that well above 50%. Although turbines have environmental impacts that need to be assessed, that is minimal compared with the impacts of the fossil fuels industry.

The only silver lining to this is it may spark the government into life and make them realise the green fools plan for renewable energy won’t keep the lights on and houses warm. You need continuous power production not intermittent like wind and solar.

Eh? 80%of British homes are currently heated using natural gas, much of which is imported. Wind and solar power can't produce gas, as far as I'm aware. This seems a diversion from the main issue, which is that there are problems with the supply of gas. Prices have increased dramatically at a time when the lowest paid have already been hit. The shortages are affecting industry, which will also have repercussions.

Apparently as countries recover from Covid 19 and reopen their economies the demand for global gas has risen coupled with a cold winter this has resulted in a gas market with reduced capacity
There was a whiff of this happening early this year don’t ask me where I read it because I can’t remember but I fixed my energy prices until September 2022 just in case
