I have a garden gate being fitted on Monday, so will have a completely secluded garden, separate from my upstairs neighbour, it will be for the best, my DD says it's a must.

I have just txt him though, to ask if he wants to sell his garden to me, not had reply yet shamrock

Bad timing for your son's girlfriend's little dog being taken ill Shandy In hindsight you understood. It is so frightening when your dog [or cat] is really ill, even the vets aren't sure at first what is wrong.

Yoginimeisje Wed 01-Jun-22 09:45:39

Fran busy lady, take it the complaint wasn't about you smile So nice to hear how happy you are with your new kitchen. Sorry to hear about your friends moving woes, I know just how she feels!

All wall units go to the ceiling.

Lovely kitchen Franbern. This is mine didn't cost near as much as yours. The flooring is Karndean and the door is unfinished oak which my my decorator put a wax varnish on. In October it will be 3 years old. All worktop and units from Benchmark and fitted by a father and son home improvement company. They did my shower room and other work for me.

Just had to cancel meeting my friend, huge rainstorms here and the roads have too much surface water. Hopefully we'll have better 'isobars' for all the celebrations!

Shandy57 Tue 31-May-22 09:48:00

Morning all, overcast and spitting with rain again - but it is 54 degrees so a bit warmer.

Very sorry to hear about your little dog Yogi. At my husband's ashes interment my son's girlfriend repeatedly texted him during the ceremony and the meal, asking him to come home as their dog was poorly. I was quite angry, it was only the second time we had met my late husband's son from his first marriage. It was August BH and I told my son I'd pay for her to take their dog to the vet, it's normally double - but she didn't - sadly she also died the next day from pancreatitis. In hindsight, I realise she was frightened to have the dog euthanised on her own, I should have been more understanding. I received a funeral notice email this morning - it is the day of my husband's cremation.

I feel so very sorry for your friend Franbern, poor woman. Every time I hear that a sale has failed, I feel grateful that I overcame my feelings and sold to my horrible buyer. Thanks to everyone on here that cheered me on!

I am meeting a nice family on the beach today, Jazz won't be able to run much with his poorly paw but enjoys the attention from them.

When I was at my knitting group, one of our members who had always been so upbeat about selling her beautiful(but now too large) house in the town and purchasing a flat - she had intended getting a new kitchen in there, awe had spent lots of times swopping ideas, etc, This had been over the past six months, - anyway last week, she told us that her purchasers had now decided to pull out!!! After all that time.......

As I walked in she looked up to ask me if it was all finished (my kitchen that is), I said I would not ask her how it was going would wait for her to tell us. She came over to me then to say that three days ago the sellers of the flat had decided to pull out also. She was trying to be upbeat - but it had obviously hit her really hard. I told her how that had happened to me, and how it had worked out (finally) in my favour - and it is not as if she is going to be homeless, etc. But, I can so emphasise with how she felt. AND, of course, she would still have all the expense of her solicitors fees as the purchase was virtually complete. Yes, she will find another purchaser, Yes, she will find another flat........But....once again it stresses how very bad is the law in the country. Why on earth cannot England be the same as Scottish law??

Franbern Tue 31-May-22 08:50:45

Sorry, photos not really any good. This new kitchen cost eighteen grand altogether. (Of course over two grand of that was the granite worktops and another grand for the Karndean floor). It still sounds an obscene amount of money - but now it is finished I can honestly say it is worth every penny. It is beautiful to be in, and wonderful to work in. I can see everything I have in store and will no longer buy things thinking I am running short and then find four or five tins of that at the back of cupboard. The pull out pantry takes ALL my dried goods, cereals, flours, sugars, etc. etc. All easy to see and easy to reach. I am loving using the hot water tap. The new window blind is on order and paid for and will be fitted in about four weeks time. When I last at Ikea I purchased new grey towels and tea-cloths foruse in here.

The main person at this local kitchen company was telling me yesterday that he has been asked to go as an expert witness for a couple of spent more than this amount on a new kitchen from a major national company - and the total disaster that is. non-matching colours, drawers that move sideways eacdh time they are opened, etc. etc. It is stressful enough even when (as for me), all went so smoothly and to time. Cannot imagine what they must be going through - although I bet that SHANDY would be, sadly, far to easily able to imagine it!!

So, my daughter down here (who being my chauffeur was also very much a part of my choosing colours and items) and her youngest my 12-year old g.son are the only other people who have seen the finished article (they popped over yesterday evening - g.son now knows where I have put the biscuit tin which always contains, choccy biccies). On Thursday one of my twin daughter and her hubbie and 12-year old daughter are down here for a visit - so will be able to admire it!!! I am finding myself keep walking in there just to remind myself how wonderful it all is!!

Okay - that is my last mention of this - I promise.

Yeserday morning was a bit chaotic. Kitchen fitters came to finish at 8.00 am (I was washed and dressed by then). Just before 9.00 the chairman (a lady) of our Committee came in to tell me of an on-going complaint. Then the man from DFS came to carry out a small repair on an electric recliner chair that is nearly three years old (DFS have the MOST wonderful customer service). Then I was called down to the foyer where a sort of unofficial cttee meeting was taking place with our new electrician who was doing some checks.

Whilst down there my Sainsbury's order was delivered. Back down for further chat to electrician. Back upstairs as fitters were leaving, and final check around. Unpacked shopping and then at 11.00 am virtually collapsed in chair to relax before having lunch and going out to my u3a knitting group. And, of course, whilst in the entrance foyer, having a quick chat with other people coming in and out. Never a lonely day here!!!!s

A little calmer today. Off to u3a coffee morning - then to collect repeat prescription, and have a relaxing afternoon. Tomorrow off to a sort of zoo near Minehead with daughter, SiL and g.son.

I am finished and prepped for my family visitors for lunch, some are vegans so I had to put a bit of thought into it as I wanted food that I could prepare and just heat, no messing with loads of veggies. Carrot and lentil soup with a hint of curry, large hm pizza and flapjacks. Two young teenage dgc and two adults.

chimney was swept yesterday, he said all was very good. Next thing is to book the boiler service for august, for me and two neighbours

Yoginimeisje Tue 31-May-22 08:37:11

Lovely kitchen Fran looks nice and neat, enjoy it now.

Shandy so sorry to hear your doggie is in pain, it's horrible isn't it. I wish him better. I have to block out my little dog Lilly, in sooo much pain in the middle of the night, I thought about human paracetamol, but didn't chance it. My vets had gone from a 24/7 to closing at 11am, just when I needed them most! She passed away the next afternoon, it was pancreatitis sad she was 15.5yrs

As for GC finding lost items, mine do this, but then it was them that lost them in the first place smile I remember my dear mum, she had vascular dementia, always putting things away where no one could find them. In the end my dad & I would hunt for a few hours and then hold our hands up and say 'that's it, not looking anymore' I do the same now with the GC hiding things, they come back the next week and 'hypressto' it suddenly appears!

Looks marvellous. Well done! Very impressed!

karmalady Mon 30-May-22 20:36:05

incredible, gorgeous kitchen

Shandy57 Mon 30-May-22 18:33:00

Wow! I should send you a photo of my green envious face! Enjoy!

Joseanne Mon 30-May-22 18:11:37

What a transformation Franbern! It all looks so streamlined. Have fun with all the little spaces to store stuff.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 30-May-22 18:02:08

Lovely kitchen Franbern you must be thrilled to bits, worth all of the hassle.

Franbern Mon 30-May-22 17:58:19

Another picture of my lovely kitchen.

Franbern Mon 30-May-22 16:57:06

Some of kitchen as it is now

Franbern Mon 30-May-22 16:49:55

Having problems with sending photos of old and new kitchen. All now completed and so very happy with it all. Worth every penny and every minute of planning and stress. Will try to send just a couple of old kitchen, then if that works, slowly send some of how it is now. Mind you. The NEW photos do not do it justice and do not show the wonderful inside features like my lovely floor to ceiling out out larder, Also the smaller pull out cupboard which takes all my spices and oils etc. And the wonderful corner units. I am a very, very happy bunny.

Shandy57 Mon 30-May-22 09:56:02

Morning all, just back from a spitty rain dog walk.

I set my alarm and was up at 8 am to ring the vet's surgery at 8.15 am - but Covid message on their phone, hours have changed to 8.45 am. I have got an appointment at 10.40 am, unfortunately with a vet I don't want to see, but I've subsequently found out he went to Uni with the owner, who must rate him! Joseanne the vet paracetamol is called Pardale, I managed to give him a half this morning inside a piece of chicken. During lockdown all vets had Covid at the same time and I saw a different locum vet who recommended human paracetamol, as he weighs 11g she recommended a quarter of the capsule type powder. I did use it, and Jazz cried when he was lying down, I stopped it. The pharmacist also refused to sell it to me when I said it was for a dog, I did go elsewhere to get it.

Now only has the vet doggy paracetamol. I'm so glad I have an appointment, he's so obviously in pain.

Have a good day everyone smile

Joseanne Mon 30-May-22 08:13:13

Poor dog Shandy I hope you can get an appointment today. Just a quick question, how do you get doggy paracetamol? I know you shouldnt give human paracetamol to dogs, although a vet once told me dogs can take Piriton for bites and allergies.

karmalady Mon 30-May-22 06:38:52

It has the most gorgeous full sound shandy. I have been carefully hanging onto my old ipod and thankful that I spent so much time putting playlists on it, many years ago, almost all my cds are on it. That bluetooth enabler really works, you just push it in and allow it to pair. a Year ago I offered my bose soundock to my son, thought he would bite my hand off but no, so I researched ways in which I could use it. It even paired with alexa so I could access amazon prime music. In the meantime, just got to wait until you can access all your leads. I labelled most of my leads, I have a label maker

I see that we have been pre-warned about power cuts this winter, seems as though it would be rolling power cuts again, morning and evening.

Shandy57 Sun 29-May-22 20:00:40

Thanks karmalady, I think I'll have to, I do think my daughter will want to have it one day. I do have two boxes of leads/chargers etc without a home, but they are now underneath a mountain of other things in the packing.

Thank you midgey, soaking my mould ridden clothes in white vinegar did work, they've been out on the line for a week and my mac hardly pongs now. Unfortunately it really got into the skirt elastic, but you can only smell it with your nose against it. I've emptied the coat/jacket side of my wardrobe today and did cull a couple, charity shop tomorrow.

My dog has got yet another interdigital cyst, and it's really hurting him, I've just phoned the vet and he said to give him a whole dog paracetamol, and another in the morning. I've crushed and mixed it into the cat food he always covets, but he's only eaten half of it, he can smell it a mile off. Hope I can get in to see someone tomorrow, poor dog.

karmalady Sun 29-May-22 19:33:44

I have an ipod bose player. I recently bought a little device to clip in, it allows it to play blootooth. I am so glad as it has the most wonderful sound. It is easy to get a new powercord for it `ipod bose power cord`.

Shandy57 Sun 29-May-22 17:21:07

Fantastic, I also detest mislaying anything and if I can't find it, sometimes wake up in the night having thought of another 'search site'.

My late husband had an Ipod with a Bose Ipod player and I've been searching for a lead all weekend, I was sure I'd put it in the box, but sadly not. I decided to ask my daughter if she'd like the player and she's said no, so the hunt is off. So cross with myself but with all the kids playstation/nintendo gubbins around the tv, I think it's gone off to lead limbo.
