Where to buy decent quality brushed cotton bedding (flannelette).

My brushed cotton bedding from the 1980s is still in good condition (albeit faded) but it doesn't fit the bed we have now. I can't spend a lot (didn't in the 80s either) but I've had a couple of false starts with sheets that were worn after one season (last winter). They seem to be so thin or shoddy now, only designed for a few washes.
In shops the bedding is generally packaged and you can't feel the quality. I did feel some Habitat ones through the package in Sainsburys this week and I could tell they were very thin.
Where can I get decent bedding (sheets, pillowcases & quilt covers) that don't cost the earth?

My Mum feels the cold and buys flannelette sheets and pillow cases from Damart I order them online for her but they also do regular brochures where you can buy by paying over the phone or fill an order form and send a cheque with it.They also sell extra warm undies and thermal tops/ jumpers as well as regular clothing/ undies/ shoes.Lots of sizes too.

M&S They have their tartan brushed cotton out for the winter, although not exclusively in that design, quite a bit online, last time I looked. If you are a Sparks card holder there are usually discounts to be had.

I bought brushed cotton fitted sheets from Asda over 4 years for a holiday let we have. They have been washed repeatedly during that time and still have plenty of wear in them. They were everso reasonable.

More recently I bought some for our own house from Dunelm and they are great too.

I think I remember seeing the candy striped flanelette bedding at ikea.

I remember when Dorma closed down & a lot of their bedding was sold off for peanuts. I bought 20 odd brushed cotton pillowcases to use as liners for 50p each & fitted sheets for a couple of pounds.
All are still white to this day. I think dunelm mill sell dorma.

I bought duvet covers and also throws from Dunelm and they are very good quality, I haven't tried their sheets yet...

I’d ask Mr Google. He usually finds what I want.

I have a Dunelm brushed cotton duvet cover and pillow cases set in a blue, tartan design and I love it smile

I also would recommend Marks & Spencers for brushed cotton sheets.

I have some from both M&S and Dunelm. Both equally as good. Gds love them.

I bought some fitted ones from La Redoute two winters ago and they are still feeling quite thick, stop our feet getting too cold .

Dunelm do sell Dorma. I bought Dorma pillow cases the other week. I've also found quality brushed cotton sheets before in charity shops or antique/vintage centres - quite often, they were kept "for best", never used and now donated by family to charity or the house clearance company know they're a quality item and sell to vintage centre

Thank you everyone. This is brilliant. Brushed cotton is so much nicer once the temperature drops. Hope you all stay cosy this winter smile

Have u tried the teddy bedding ? Husband wasn’t keen until he slept on it . Easy to wash n dry , only thing she’d be he fitted sheet not the duvet cover n pillow cases. It’s warm, cosy and readily available .

Rainnsnow Mon 11-Nov-24 12:17:48

Should say only thing tried was a fitted sheet

Dunelm now have the Dorma brand as their own.

Aveline Mon 11-Nov-24 12:23:03

M&S. Am currently enjoying them but always forget how difficult movement can be if I have flannelette top and bottom. The first night it's like sleeping in velcro! It's worth it though. So cosy to snuggle into

Missiseff Mon 11-Nov-24 12:24:17

Dunelm

Not M&S- I bought a charcoal coloured brush cotton bottom sheet last year and it bobbled for weeks and weeks. Black bits all over the carpet every time I changed sheets and in my washing machine. It never did stop bobbling so I gave up.
The quality of M&S isn’t what it used to be.
