Weaponised incompetence

Ah - now I see what that phrase means that I've heard women use about men.

Cue for taking delivery of new bed today and the male half of the two delivering it took my vacuum cleaner and started hoovering the floor. Bash at my furniture (new/not cheap), bash again. I make comment of "I've replaced that furniture pretty recently - got rid of the original cheaper stuff I'd had and bought MINE finally". He then bashed my walls - cue for me saying "I've decorated the house throughout - I won't be doing it again". Cue for apparent total oblivion on his part was what I was saying was "Do NOT bash my furniture.....do NOT bash my walls".

Pity the poor women who are married to those doing weaponised incompetence - visions of them telling them "Don't damage my stuff" umpteen times before saying "Here I'll do your share of the housework for you....for free....so go and get lazy and watch the tv instead and I'll do your share, as well as my own".

I think congrats to the delivery man who offered to hoover. If you didn't want him to do it you should have done it yourself. If he started knocking into furniture then you should have just thanked him and taken over. He was trying to help you.

Weaponised incompetence, really. More feminist c.... Just another example of putting all men in one basket.
In my day it was called, not doing your share, women can be just as guilty. My son could tell you that.

I think a vacuuming delivery man is doing more than his share, unless this is part of the advertised service? The last time I had new beds delivered they were going onto new carpets, so maybe it’s something they do now. I can’t remember what happened the time before. I know it costs quite a bit to get them to take away old beds and assemble the new ones, so maybe putting them down onto vacuumed carpet is included in the charge.

All the same, it’s usually better to say what you mean, rather than hinting, in my experience.

I keep reading this as weaponised incontinence.

On reflection, that sounds much more tricky.

I once read an article by a male journalist, who said that when nobly doing the hoovering for a change, a good way to really p*ss your wife/partner off, was to do a particularly thorough job, e.g. hoovering under the bed/sofa, and then saying, ‘Goodness, it’s been a long time since the hoover went under there, hasn’t it?’
Sorry, but I did 😂!

I hate the ads (flash especially) where the guy looks so smug that he has cleaned the floor. He wouldn’t be if he had to do it every day.

I remember where i used to work asking a man in his 20s to hoover and he didn't even know how to turn it on. At my work now, youngsters unable to wash up or mop floors or even how to use a brush, wtf is going on? grin
