Cunard allow you to take booze aboard! At least they've never said anything about mine? The wine however is a lot more expensive than £20, £35 is about the cheapest I think.

Nonu Thu 21-Mar-13 17:55:13

Galen , are not Cunard the most expensive ?

Nonu Thu 21-Mar-13 17:56:15

35£ , you are havin a laff surely !!!!!!!!!!!

Galen Thu 21-Mar-13 18:31:02

No, and that's the cheapest. I think the most expensive is the st petroc? At about £600 a bottle

Galen Thu 21-Mar-13 18:36:22

Sorry, it's Petrus. A pommerol and its over $2000.
I've never tried it!

MamaCaz Fri 22-Mar-13 14:18:20

1p off a pint of beer? It's so meaningless that it has left me fuming. Do politicians really think that we ordinary folks are so gullible, so simple that we will jump for joy at this announcement?

On top of that, it could be considered a very sexist measure, as 90% of those who drink beer are men. (Or maybe they are the ones they think gullible, rather than we women! wink)

HUNTERF Fri 22-Mar-13 14:22:14

MamaCaz

I am a man and I do not like beer.
I drink red wine or soft drinks when I am driving.

I am sure I saw a woman drinking beer at the theatre on Wednesday evening.

Probably Petrus with his 'London pension'

MamaCaz Fri 22-Mar-13 17:27:18

Hunterf, I didn't say that all men drink beer, or that no women drink it, so please don't take it personally! smile

I drink beer and am something of an expert – only something of one – on real ale, which I have been drinking since I was about 18 or 19. I also drink wine and have a fair knowledge about wines too, although, apart from two bottles of 1970 Fonseca port, I have gradually drunk the contents of my wine racks (with help from guests) because I can't take the bottles with me when I emigrate.

The price of beer has been reduced by 1p per pint (pshaw). The price of wine and spirits has, once again, gone up.

Well I am off to my local to celebrate tonight and I do not care if it costs me a bit more.
I will walk there.

janeainsworth Fri 22-Mar-13 18:43:54

Frank You're not supposed to drink anything when you're driving, in the same way as you're not supposed to text on your mobile phone.
Do watch out - someone will be reporting you if you're not careful smile

Ana Fri 22-Mar-13 18:45:28

To celebrate what, Frank? confused
(As you don't drink beer...)

HUNTERF Fri 22-Mar-13 18:58:04

I think it's callous of you to celebrate someone's death, Frank, no matter how wronged you think you have been.

Greatnan Fri 22-Mar-13 20:45:28

As I am sure Ariadne will not respond herself, I think it should be noted that she does wonderful work for a school in Africa.

HUNTERF Fri 22-Mar-13 22:27:29

Just back from the pub and I had a glass or two of wine, steak and chips.
Just so glad to get a major nuisance out of my life.
An I had a glass of wine for you Nonu.

Frank

Ana Fri 22-Mar-13 22:29:39

I've seen a side to you which I don't much like, Frank. I hope you get indigestion!

Galen Fri 22-Mar-13 22:35:27

I'm tempted to wish pasturelands pestis on you.
But I'm nice so I won't angry

Galen Fri 22-Mar-13 22:35:50

Pasteurella!

gracesmum Fri 22-Mar-13 22:38:52

We all hate a bad loser, don't we, but a bad winner is even harder to stomach.

Well I had a nice meal last night. I would not normally celebrate this sort of incident but she has caused me a great amount of hustle and distress.
Oddly I met a woman at the pub and I thought I recognised her face.
She had heard about the situation as she was a member at the social club my father was a member of.
She said she was a little worried but heard I had a title to half the house.
She said she did not renew her membership in view of the number of supporters my fathers ex had as that club.
In her view it was totally wrong somebody should try to take the offspring's inheritance and when I mentioned the £70,000 which his ex knew I had spent on the house she thought that was absolutely despicable somebody would try to do that.
She was of the same view as me.
Dad's ex wanted me to pay the bills to bring the house up to a good standard and hoped she could in some way get ownership of the house.

Just to be clear, * Frank*. You were celebrating that someone has died because she gave you a lot of hassle?
