Instead of some pensioners getting excessive amounts and some getting very little why not use the money in the pension funds to give all pensioners a decent pension.

Sleep well Frank, + of course Andie

Every person of pensionable age deserves a decent standard of living private pension or not, many many people have struggled throughout their lifetimes with hard and difficult jobs and just not been fortunate to be abke to pay into private pension plans when they could only just afford to keep their heads above water,we are very very fortunate that we both have good private pensions and state pension but if we didn't there is no way I would begrudge anyone who was better off financially,we would just cut our cloth accordingly and make it stretch to our needs,I would not have my car or be able to support our DGSs through their education costs but they would manage in some other way.
nonu hi-ya how are you babes.

Nonu

Andie does not sleep.
He has to guard the house for 25 hours a day.
He has barked in the middle of the night but on every occasion there has been something going on.
I have caught him resting his eyes.

25 hours a day!?? Poor Andie - he must always be an hour behind...sad

HUNTERF Fri 21-Jun-13 21:54:52

Anna

I have just thought Andie should get a state pension when he gets to 9.2857 years old as he will be 65 in dog years.
I must say however my previous dog was still guarding the house when he was 16 ( 112 in dog years ).

But has Andie paid his NI contributions, Frank? As you would surely be the first to point out, he shouldn't be entitled to a pension unless he's paid into the pot...wink

HUNTERF Fri 21-Jun-13 22:26:34

Ana

His owner was paying maximum NI contributions and 40% tax for over 30 years.

I've paid NI contributions and tax for over 40 years but my car doesn't get a pension. I wish it did....hmm

Aka Fri 21-Jun-13 23:32:24

Cars don't get pensions Ana shock but as the owner of two elderly dogs I like Frank's proposal hmm

Greatnan Sat 22-Jun-13 06:37:06

I think Frank, whoever he is, has one of the best senses of humour amongst us!

Aka Sat 22-Jun-13 06:38:50

I'm in danger of agreeing with you.

Ana Sat 22-Jun-13 10:17:23

Things are looking up for you, Frank! grin

You'll have to ask Ana it was her post first, but I did wonder.

Ana Sun 23-Jun-13 22:45:28

Oh, is it my turn? grin wink
