Amazon Account

Be aware guys, my wife has just had her Amazon account hacked, they had both card numbers and contact details, no harm she picked it up and cards have been cancelled.

If you have any cards registered with Amazon to make payment quicker a scammer can see them and your contact details. Maybe a bit too convenient!.

David do you mind me asking how your wife knew her account had been hacked? Did the hacker buy something using her card which she then noticed?

I would like to know this too David please.

The scam purporting to be Amazon phoned her and tried to get her details so that they could correct a mistake in an order. Amazon or any other company would never do that, the order would be cancelled and you would need to re order.
They were very convincing because they had address and both cards details she had registered.

Pretty much like the campaign the BBC are publicizing currently

Thank you David, this prompted me me check my credit card account, where I found an unusual transaction.
I knew it hadn't been me.
I was just about to phone my bank, but decided to check with DH, who rarely shops. It was indeed him, he just didn't bother telling me.

A timely reminder to check your accounts on a regular basis.

Yes, we do have responsibility to check accounts very often. With on-line banking, this takes just seconds. Each morning, when I have my brekkie I use my phone to do a check on my bank accounts, and my credit card. That way, it could never be more than 24 hours when I would pick up any unauthorised use.
I keep a small notebook, in which I record ALL credit card payments. Not only, does this help me to see how much I am spending, but also gives me a wonderful record of when an item was purchased.
