Doh, Monday brain..

annegr Tue 06-Aug-13 08:01:13

Good morning all. A much better day weather-wise, thank goodness. I would walk down to Morrisons but my friend would probably freak-out if I suggested it!. So bus it will be. If it turns up, we will be in the cafe before 10 but failing satisfactory progress on public transport - as soon as we can.
I hope you have sorted your days out, Jen.Today is Tuesday and we are looking forward to meeting you.I have a green cardigan on!! Also am bringing my shopping trolley (spotted) because I need to do vital food shopping. This month, I have not used Tesco internet because I had an overload of some stuff from previous forays, i.e. BOGOF.
See you then.

So sorry ladies, insomnia hit me at 1am & the A19 is closed, just not to be...next week perhaps?

annegr Wed 07-Aug-13 07:58:06

The evening paper showed the extent of the crash, it looked awful.
So sorry about your insomnia, Jen. I have first hand experience of it, unfortunately, particularly 1-2 in the morning. I have been known to get up and have a shower, warm milk and a paracetemol and start again with going to bed. The nights are when your brain dredges up stuff you've put away in storage!
I broke my glasses this week so am off to optician's for 9 am appt. today.I shall walk down to town because I'm more likely to get there on time and the feel good factor (smugness) is worth the effort
I might see you, Matson, in the High St around 10 ish. I shall look out for you though I know you don't read this on a morning.
Just done a patrol around my plants and talked to them. Well on my way to being taken into care for my own safety.Seriously, I do say: "Be still. The presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here. Be still. The power of the Lord is moving in this place." A good start for the day.

YaYaJen Wed 07-Aug-13 08:31:49

Good morning,
After they cleared the first crash there was a second, terrible.

www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/10593731.Two_killed_in_separate_accidents_on_A19_near_Middlesbrough/?ref=mr

Used to have chronic insomnia which makes life hell, last night oddly it was a really good dream that woke me - anyway I know now not to push it if I am tired as it so easily turns into a crash...

Also did a tour of the garden while kettle boiled, nipped out side shoots from tomatoes and dead headed sweet peas, enjoyed the scent of the lilies - a beautiful day here but time to do a bit for Gransnet then tidy up ready for grandsons at midday.

Have a good day
Jen

Hello, I can't remember what was arranged for next week -if anything. I know my neighbour is going away sometime soon but most days are OK by me if I get a bit of notice. I will wait to be enlightened!
Just finished the book - wow.I wish I could write about people like that and with such depth. I shall pass the book on to R.

matson Thu 08-Aug-13 16:27:50

hello annegr and jen I believe we arranged Monday as normal before R goes on her wanderings! Have been reading the evening gazette , the last two evenings have shown some tragic accidents.
I hope you have got some new glasses annegr, you could be reassuring the weeds, not your lovely rescued plants!
I am flexible with arrangements most days next week, so if Monday doesn,t suit just let me know. Take care

annegr Fri 09-Aug-13 08:24:08

Good morning Friday. Yes, Monday is fine at 10 in Morrisons. I don't know what R is doing, she has successfully confused me! I shall contact her over the weekend because I need all her departures and arrivals on my calendar as I am house-minding. But Monday is fine and shall come alone if needs be.
I pick my new specs up on Saturday morning. I do have sunglasses in the meantime but they do look a bit over the top round the supermarket.
Confession - bought another tray of 4 perennials the other day. The flowers and plants section will have to be moved - it's anti social! There isn't any other way into the shop (and I am sticking to that excuse)
Grandson and family still away in Lake District but I'm living on my nerves - they took a kayak with them. I know they bought lifejackets just so long as they remember to put them on. I wish they'd just go on retreat to a monastery for their holidays.
Have finished book, Matson, now I can do housework.Brilliant and so true to the humankind, from the priests to the old ladies.
See you Monday.

annegr Sat 10-Aug-13 08:57:04

Hello, Spoke to friend R last night. Although she will still be at home Mon. she is expecting grandson and girlfriend to call and also a man (!!) to put weedkiller down on her path.I don't think she should try to fit everything in or she'll blow a fuse but I 'll leave it to her.
Monday in Morrisons at 10am in the cafe.
See you.

matson Sun 11-Aug-13 14:28:43

Hi, a man you say! do you think it safe to leave him alone with R [GRIN]!
see you tomorrow.

annegr Sun 11-Aug-13 16:12:26

It's OK. She will talk him to death. We have both now finished book - stunning!
Next Saturday in Locke Park is a Fun Day Gala. I hope to take James. Maybe see you there. I will fetch the flyer to show you tomorrow. I went to Zetland Park's day and enjoyed it very much.Bouncy castle, Punch and Judy, stalls and food etc etc. hmm

matson Sun 11-Aug-13 18:21:25

Teeheesmile. Next Saturday is another birthday for me aargh!, I,m going to blackpool for the day with my sister. I got one of the flyers through my letterbox annegr, it looks to be a good day for the kids, lets hope the weather stays fine.

Morning ladies, cannot make it yet again, was woken early 2am ish by terrible pain in back ribs, it is something I get from time to time called costochondritis

What does costochondritis feel like?
Costo is an inflammation of the rib cartilage, and is sometimes diagnosed by pushing on the sternum, (area at the top where your ribs join) or by pushing on any sore spot on your ribs. Either should cause intense pain. However, not everyone with CC will respond like that.

In the beginning, costo is usually worse,it feels like there is an elephant sitting on your chest, it hurts to breathe, ribs hurt all over with intermittent sharp, stabbing pains, and usually a few "sore spots" on your ribs, that you would faint if someone poked you there. You might also feel like you are having a heart attack. Eventually, it might go down to a dull, but constant ache, or simply the feeling of sore ribs. It hurts to wear a bra, and different motions, like picking a child up from the floor, can cause a flare up, with intense pain. When it is a chronic condition, it tends to wax and wane, come and go. It might be better for a while, then you will reach for something in the wrong position and bam!, it is right back again.

OUCH!

Happy birthday for Saturday, have a fab time today and in Blackpool x

annegr Mon 12-Aug-13 07:58:42

brew Go make a cup of tea and read your messages! I've never seen these icons before - are they new or is it just me being unobservant?
I hope you feel a bit better, Jan, this morning.Meditation might help in some way.
It's many years since I've been to Blackpool but a great spot for a fun weekend. I've been to the illuminations several times, quite magical and clever.
I am walking down to town this morning since I am on my own. See you around 10 in cafe.

matson Mon 12-Aug-13 18:11:37

Oh dear Jen hope you are on the mend soon!

annegr Tue 13-Aug-13 19:07:41

Been all at sea today (literally) Went to Whitby on the spur of the moment using the wonderful bus pass. Had a boat trip, there was quite a swell outside the harbour, and burrowed around in all the little shops.
The only snag I found was when I decided to come home, I found that no-one queues up in Whitby bus station. It's a free-for-all, the weak are trampled underfoot!

matson Wed 14-Aug-13 19:46:49

Glad you enjoyed it, and survived to queque another daysmile

annegr Thu 15-Aug-13 08:59:17

I think the best time for another trip is after the children go back to school. Did you read the letters in the Gazette last night? One of them made my blood boil! The writer refers to "denture rattling" pensioners taking up valuable space using bus passes on the Whitby/Scarborough bus.I am incensed.Perhaps he would like to get rid of us all at sea (Whitby, of course)
The answer, as far as I can see, is that the public service bus provider,Arriva, provides a public service i.e. More/bigger buses during the children's 6 wks hols. This calls for another letter from yours truly. I'm not an aggressive person but denture rattling is beyond the pale.

matson Thu 15-Aug-13 15:38:20

Hi annegr , hope all is well, I did read that letter, and like you thought it rude! The answer as you say is simple, put more buses on.I await your letter in the gazette.
There appears to be an undercurrent running through the country at the moment, us ' elderly ' are to costly, what seems to be forgotten is that the vast majority of us 'elderly ' have well and truly paid our way in life and extraangry.
Have you a preference for our beacon cuppa, or are we sticking with Monday? I,m flexible so far, bar Wednesday. take care.

annegr Thu 15-Aug-13 19:51:00

I have sent my letter to editor! Might come up next week.
Monday is fine by me.10 ish in the Beacon cafe. Do I need my vertigo pills or shall I be brave and just go for it? Just joking.
I hung my washing out at lunchtime and it was so warm and windy that I brought it in again nearly straight away and it was dry. Also chatted to my neighbour about his £600 vet's bill!! What could I say to console the poor man? Another neighbour had already upset him by suggesting it would have been better to put dog to sleep.I thought it prudent to keep my thoughts to myself.
In R's absence, she has got a new neighbour.A greybearded man on a bike. I believe she briefly met him just before she departed but no time for introductions etc.
