Suuze , the street lamps at the crossing points in Poynton are about the ugliest I have ever seen - apparently an addition to the original scheme owing something to Health and Safety wonks who thought people crossing wouldn't be sufficiently visible after dark. The success of the scheme as a whole remains to be seen, and many local residents are highly sceptical about it. It certainly looks good and so much more open than it used to be. Just been in Waitrose myself, stocking up after Christmas.
I used to live in Bramhall (where the boys and, later, GD went to the High School) and spent 8 years on Stockport Council.

I am new to Gransnet and I live in SW France and have done so for eleven years. One of my grandchildren lives in the UK the other two in France.

Good to meet you flowerfriend . Don't worry, you don't have to be a comedy turn or completely barmy but you may have to tolerate some people who are! We are a great support group and I love it. Hi new people - Gransnet is great! Most people are really kind, full of good, friendly advice and a few are entirely nuts!! Just like real life really!

Adelaide, South Australia. Have one son in London and visited quite a few times, love to travel, especially India. Last year I was in London when the Royal Wedding was on. because the grandchild was just 1 year old and hated being in the car very long I didn't see much outside of London, though in the past had driven quite a lot of it. Next time I hope to see more of the smaller country places I haven't been to.

Hello Gmajen. I live in London but spend time in Epsom looking after GC's. Only an hour from Waterloo. I am always looking out for new places to explore with them, any ideas? We have been to Horton Park and Morden Hall Park, which we loved for the woodland adventure trail. Any suggestions for cheap days out gratefully accepted.

Hi seventimesfiveIts good to hear from you. There are so many parks - have you tried Nonsuch off the A24 - huge area to run in and lovely cafe in Nonsuch Mansion and of course there is (are?) always Epsom Downs to fly kites. There is also a lovely walk by the Hogsmill River (only a trickle) in Ewell which is part of the London Loop and which attracts little people with shrimping nets in the summer. Happy hunting.
