Annobel - nice to know that. I was beginning to think we had some views in common so that's even more of a link.I was at St A in the late 60's and unlike some grans who have contributed to other threads didn't take part in any radical student activities at sleepy St A!!

Gally Thu 09-Jun-11 17:51:46

Hello Greenmossgiel - I'm in Fife - on the coast west of Kirkcaldy!

Annobel Thu 09-Jun-11 18:26:25

Ah, Em, that gives me almost ten years on you. I graduated in 1962. I don't think there were any radical activities at St A in my day, though there was something called the New Left which was more of a talking shop than anything active.

I am getting more and more lonely ---- I can't believe I am the only Hampshire Hog !!!!!

sprinkles Thu 09-Jun-11 21:06:53

I'm in Gower, near Swansea Wales. I still think it's one of the most beautiful parts of the countrygrin)

JessM Thu 09-Jun-11 21:36:33

yes it is Sprinkles you lucky, lucky, lucky person. No need to apologise. It was the first designated area of natural beauty and consequently unspoilt. I was born there, when Stouthall was a maternity unit and grew up in Swansea.

I was born in the famous boot and shoe making town of Northampton. Now live looking over the sea towards the outer Hebridean islands of Isla and Jura...with Mull to the west, and Gigha to the east. Paul Mac and Linda had a farm not too many miles away, just outside Campbeltown. A very special place...smile

Hello from Boston, Lincolnshire, not Massachusetts! I was born in S.Yorkshire, near Barnsley, moved to a village near Rochdale in Lancashire aged 13, then into Heywood 2 years after getting married, but then we came over to this side of the country in 1977, will probably die here!!
GillieB, I went for an evening`s gliding at an airfield in Alford, Lincs, about 20 years ago, loved it, but couldn`t afford to go again, I had two flights, it`s a fantastic feeling.
We also love Northumberland, especially the area around Seahouses and Bamburgh, and the lovely Farne Islands, but we haven`t been for a few years now. Until our first visit, I always thought it was a dark, dirty industrial area, boy, was I surprised, it`s beautiful!

Hello

I have just joined and am enjoying reading some of the comments.

I now live in Suffolk, before that just over the border in Essex, but originally came from nearer London, so have moved steadily eastwards over the years.

It is great being near to so many lovely places in this county including the coast - I love the sea.

crimson Sun 12-Jun-11 18:18:24

We go to Bamburgh late summer/early autumn, and never run out of places to go. Had a scare last year because they were planning to ban dogs from the beach, but, thankfully they changed their mind, as it's a superb dog walking beach.

nanapug Wed 15-Jun-11 16:26:09

Ok, I am beginning to take it personally now!! Am I missing something or are all you Kentish maids or Maids of Kent holding out on me? Surely I can't be the only one on here...... wink

Zephrine Thu 16-Jun-11 10:42:37

I'm a Londoner, but moved from Essex to Cheshire 3 years ago and I love it.

Dilys Thu 16-Jun-11 16:12:59

From County Durham originally, moved around England and for the past 8 years I've been in the glorious Scottish Highlands!

Exwirecutter Thu 16-Jun-11 16:25:26

I was born in Guernsey but evacuated to Greater Manchester during our last bit of unpleasantness with our now friends in Europe. Now a naturalized northerner .

DaisyD Fri 17-Jun-11 16:35:35

Gainsborough, Lincolnshire here - but originally a Derbyshire donkey grin

sylvia2036 Fri 17-Jun-11 17:43:25

I'm a Scot (parents Scottish and English), married to a Yorkshireman, living just outside Northwich, Cheshire therefore I guess I'm an adopted Northerner and very proud to be so.

Annobel Fri 17-Jun-11 23:23:24

Me too, Sylvia2036, except I used to be married to a Yorkshireman and I live between Macclesfield and Stockport. Are we the East Cheshire Chapter of GN?
