Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

grrranny when you say mounted police, what do you mean exactly? What is the kettle for? Are we having tea?
confused

numberplease Mon 06-Aug-12 15:25:06

Oh, I do love a man on a horse!

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 15:56:54

Yes, grrrranny, define "mounted" please.

JessM Mon 06-Aug-12 15:57:14

With a Brummie accent?

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 18:51:48

Cardboard, picture, wooden frame, glass, string, wall, nail, hang - whatever have you been thinking about?

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 19:42:31

grin

jeni Mon 06-Aug-12 20:31:18

Who's going to volunteer to be the stripper?

eGJ Mon 06-Aug-12 20:42:46

Glad to see you've volunteered for stripping jeni smile

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 20:44:26

I assumed we would be booking one, but will cancel if you don't think he's needed grin

Oldgreymare Tue 14-Aug-12 19:59:41

Thinking of booking train tickets tomorrow, we are still ON aren't we? smile

jeni Tue 14-Aug-12 20:15:48

I hope so! I've just downloaded the form for a disabled person rail card! Apparently it means a person travelling with me also gets 33% discount as well as me!

petallus Tue 14-Aug-12 20:20:54

I shall book my train tickets soon. Any idea how long our meeting will go on for? Wondering what time train to get back.

jeni Tue 14-Aug-12 20:22:05

I've the same problem as I have to book disabled assistance!

crimson Tue 14-Aug-12 20:30:47

After this week I'll be away for two weeks. I'm not going to book my ticket till closer to the 6th but I'm definately going to be there unless something catastrophic happens. The S.O. is away that week and I may stay at my cousins in Birmingham Saturday night,so won't be in a great hurry to leave. Very much looking forward to it smile. I would imagine we'll do a bit of swopping of mobile numbers so everyone has some sort of contact number if they have a problem [says I who only uses my mobile about once a year, if that, and don't even know the number of it!].

jeni Tue 14-Aug-12 20:33:56

How many people do know their mobile number? I don't! I always have to go to contacts 'me'!

crimson Tue 14-Aug-12 21:00:23

My numbers are written on a piece of paper because I can't use the index bit....

numberplease Tue 14-Aug-12 21:01:00

I have a problem remembering how to even answer the bloomin` thing!

crimson Tue 14-Aug-12 22:25:57

The first time it went off [in Waterstones I think] I didn't know what was happening, as my son had set the ring tone. I still prefer my first phone, the one that was the size of a brick [like the ones in The Matrix]. My son then kept buying me smaller and smaller ones till it reached the stage where I couldn't see the numbers. No one phones me, anyway sad. I just don't understand all these conversations that people have all the time [maybe they're just pretending wink.

I was thinking of getting my train ticket nearer to the date and will hope to swap mobile numbers with someone to meet up with at the station. I was thinking of getting a train back about 4. If our meeting finishes I can do some shopping.

AlisonMA Wed 15-Aug-12 11:39:14

I'm back from Vancouver. I bought a purple Tshirt with white on at the top of Whistler mountain so now just have to find somethinging green to wear with it.

I am definitely coming and can stay as long as you like as, if I miss the train home, I can let myself into DS3's house and sleep there. He is coming to us the next day anyway.

Yes, I do know my mobile number but my ringtones annoy the family as they are loud and 'interesting' so that I can hear them!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all but if you turn out to be dull and boring I'm leaving GN grin

Maniac Wed 15-Aug-12 18:01:31

I rarely wear purple but on this occasion my white t-shirt printed with 'Growing Old Disgracefully' in purple will surely be appropriate.Think I may still have a green silk jacket tucked away somewhere.
Don't know my mobile no.either. It's often switched off unless I'm expecting a call.

jeni Wed 15-Aug-12 18:33:40

alison do you think that's likely?[worried] emoticon

crimson Wed 15-Aug-12 19:20:08

With it being a Saturday I may have to disappear to the bookies periodically to place a few bets. I'm hope everyone will understand confused.....

grrrranny Wed 15-Aug-12 21:30:19

crimson bring Racing Post if it still exists and we can just send you to the bookies as long as you don't run off with our cash. Swapping mobile numbers good idea but obviously by PM so that the world cannot google our numbers. I'm now going to work on my juggling, impersonations and harmonica playing as I want to have something to fall back on when my conversation is found out to be monosylabic and - yup - boring.

jeni Wed 15-Aug-12 21:56:24

I'll bring my iPad. Do you have an online account?
