Nothing yet planned in Edinburgh for January but here are a couple of suggestions:-

1) A repeat of our DIY Burns lunch chez Elegran, which seemed to go down well.

2) A Burns supper out, for instance at Tthe Scottish Restaurant and Cafe at the Gallery at the mound where we have met before, complete with ceilidh. Or somewhere similar.

3) Burns Supper at ROSL (another familiar place to meet) This one has some bigwigs and toasts "After a welcome drink, tuck into the traditional three-course meal, including wine and a glass of whisky, with the Immortal Memory proposed by Rt Rev Brian Smith, former Bishop of Edinburgh. The Toast to the Lassies will be given by the Consul General of Ireland, Pat Bourne, and the reply by Consul General of the USA, Zoja D Bazarnic. "

Didn't get round to minesad
Will probably have it next week. I don't like the the McSweens! Used to have ones my brother brought down from his local butcher. Now, I like the ones from the haggis company.

Great afternoon and lovely to meet up with old friends again. Thank you Elegran for your hospitality.

Air Vice Marshal's Pud for Bags

1 large carton of Double cream
1 large carton of Plain Yoghurt
Raspberries/Blueberries
Dark Muscovado Sugar

Put fruit in glass dish. Whip cream until it holds it's shape, fold in yog and scoop over fruit. Shake copious amounts of sugar on the top. Cover with cling film and put in fridge for 24 hours. Serve. Simples. Halve amounts for fewer portions. Sometimes I fold in crushed meringues.

Went home from a lovely Burns afternoon with great friends. The meal was delicious and I still cannot get over the creamy mashed potatoes Elegran. Was overly tired yesterday and went home into a hot bath followed by a cosy bed. Slept like a log and woke up far too soon. Could eat another meal now that I've recovered from tiredness. Thanks again all for the lovely stories, good company and an especially great hostess smile
