In May? Some of us have been throwing a few ideas around. I can get a bus to Leicester [although I don't know the place very well]. Are there and dates/venues etc that would suit various people?

J52 Thu 26-Mar-15 13:05:08

How about John Lewis restaurant?

Tegan Thu 26-Mar-15 13:24:43

As long as someone confiscates my credit card while I'm in the shop [I love John Lewis!].

granjura Thu 26-Mar-15 13:45:54

Or Carluccio's? Or a traditional Café like Mrs Bridges- might be able to book part of it with the owner/Chef (one of my ex students). All within easy reach of the Cathedral- JL too.

Any suitable date? I sometimes have to do the school run on Mondays.

kittylester Thu 26-Mar-15 14:06:43

Hi, I'm in. Well done Tegan!!

I do the school run on Wednesdays but could maybe change to Monday if Wednesdays suit everyone better. Carluccio's sounds best to me as I know they are good for GF but I can manage most places. JL, strangely, don't seem to 'get' gf! confused

I'll look after your credit card Tegan!! grin I could pick you up in Loughborough if it helps!

J52 Thu 26-Mar-15 14:08:07

I don't mind any date. I divide my time between Leicester and Scotland, but I'm very flexible! x

Tegan Thu 26-Mar-15 14:11:44

I don't know Loughborough very well either! I must learn how to do the bus thing, especially as it stops almost next to my house....

Roderick Thu 26-Mar-15 19:13:16

I live in Loughborough but can only go into town because I have to use a mobility scooter

Nelliemoser Thu 26-Mar-15 22:43:03

I might be tempted if I can pull in a visit to the Cathedral as well as I was planning to do that anyway, just to make it worth my while.

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 10:11:39

I want to do that also Nellie.Ijust don't know Leicester well enough to work out the logistics of it. Roderick; we've got to stick with Leicester this time because of it all linking in with Richard III, but I'll do a Loughborough one at a later date [there'll be no stopping me once I start to use my bus pass properly!].

kittylester Fri 27-Mar-15 10:18:03

If we meet early enough somewhere around Highcross (say noon) those of us who want to can go to the Cathedral and those who don't could go shopping with Tegan's credit card. Sorted grin

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 10:25:34

My credit card is getting sooo excited by all this; has never had a day out all by itself before grin.

J52 Fri 27-Mar-15 10:56:32

The Cathedral and exhibition is only a few yards from Highcross shopping area and a straightforward, short walk from the station. x

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 11:30:18

We need to choose a date that fits in with those who have to travel the furthest as kitty and I can be more flexible.

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 11:39:53

I can't do 6th May. Apart from that May is totally free.

kittylester Fri 27-Mar-15 12:55:40

I can't do 11th or 21st and 13th would be problematic.

granjura Fri 27-Mar-15 12:58:26

I suppose it would be me traveling the furthest- but might not be able to make it at all anyhow, so don't worry about me. If the date is in the 2nd part of May, I might be able to join you (as my visit to UK has to fit in with DDs and GCs). See how it goes.

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 13:02:58

2nd half of the month would probably be better anyway [gives us more time to get organised]. 26th is my sons birthday so probably need to rule that out.

Nelliemoser Fri 27-Mar-15 16:43:30

A Leicester city centre map to orient you all.

https://www.le.ac.uk/maps/documents/citycentre.pdf

I would prefer the middle of the month as my DGC2 is due on the 24th and I may need to go off to look after DGC1.
You will have to go with the date most of you can make in the end.

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 17:06:06

What date would suit you? Excluding 6th, 11th,23th,21st or 26th [I don't think I've missed any dates out]. If granjura was around in late May I reckon kitty and I could venture forth again [any excuse].

J52 Fri 27-Mar-15 18:59:33

I'm happy to fit in with chosen date, as I said 'bendy' - sorry flexible! x

Tegan Fri 27-Mar-15 19:28:51

Do you have to book in advance to see any of the Richard III stuff?

kittylester Fri 27-Mar-15 19:37:01

Not as far as I know but there is a website. The Cathedral and jubilee square looked amazing tonight on East Mids Today with loads of candles and lights!

pompa Tue 31-Mar-15 15:56:46

We shall be in Narborough last week in May and again in August, so may be able to meet some of you.
