In May? Some of us have been throwing a few ideas around. I can get a bus to Leicester [although I don't know the place very well]. Are there and dates/venues etc that would suit various people?

Nelliemoser Thu 30-Apr-15 19:05:39

I am happy with eating later and doing tourism first, but will do whatever anyone else wants. I am going to get my head around my journey now DGS2 has arrived.

kittylester Thu 30-Apr-15 19:16:48

Great that you can come Nellie.

J52 Thu 30-Apr-15 19:35:51

I'm happy to do either time. X

Tegan Thu 30-Apr-15 20:04:58

I think that we should plan the meal round the best time for Nellie as she's the one doing the most travelling [but knows Leicester better than I do therefore, when she's worked out her arrival time will know how long things will take to do. Then again, it might make it easier to meet at the restaurant early and take it from there. Then again, once we sit down and get comfy we might find it difficult to get back up again... #indecisiveasusualme confused

Cocktails!! I'm coming on the train!!!

J52 Thu 30-Apr-15 20:35:48

Cocktails, yeah! I'll get a taxi! x

Soutra Thu 30-Apr-15 21:39:43

I have realised I don't think I can do a Tuesday unless it's half term as I drive DH to his philosophy course. It is so good for him to get to something stimulating and he will have had to miss 2 previous weeks because of hospital visits. So sorry. sad

Grannybug Thu 30-Apr-15 22:41:11

I'm in East Northants but would like to come along if possible

Tegan Thu 30-Apr-15 23:15:45

Let me think about it for a minute hmm....of course you can grin! [need help controlling this lot when they've been at the cocktails wink]

kittylester Fri 01-May-15 06:50:46

Tegan grin! Soutra sad! Grannybug that would be great - which time suits you best - early or later?

Grannybug Fri 01-May-15 09:01:29

Tegan grin will fit in with the majority when finalised. Be lovely to meet some other G Netters.

I still need to work out how to get to Leicester. Does anyone know where the bus station is with regard to the places we're going to visit? Or I might do the train instead #stillcan'tdecide

kittylester Fri 01-May-15 11:59:30

Bus might be better Tegan, if the bus still comes into St Margaret's, the train is at the other end of town. The bus station is very close to Highcross which, in turn, is very close to Richard III.

Tegan Fri 01-May-15 20:56:09

Yes; bus goes to St Margarets. But can I sit on a bus for 53 minutes without needing the loo blush #nocupofteaformebeforeisetoff sad

I have looked up my trains. I could comfortably arrive at Leicester Station about 11:30am

Interesting! The journey has one change. If I buy one day return ticket from home to Leicester it will cost about £45 (less with a rail card) if I buy two day return tickets for each separate stage of this journey it will cost about £22. (less with a rail card) It beats driving.
Be aware it's worth a try.

I tried that formula for a trip I make To Conwy via Chester and it was more expensive to buy two tickets. I fail to understand the logic here.
One reason might be that the Conwy train goes up to Holyhead for the ferries to Ireland and its regarded as more important.

I am looking forward to this trip.

It's easy for me to meet up with anyone who is not sure of the way, at the station and then we can walk through to Carluccios or Cathedral. x

Tegan Tue 05-May-15 17:20:55

Right #getsbrainingear How about J52 and Nellie meeting at the station. I can then decide whether to go by bus or train and arrange to meet at either the station or the Cathedral. Grannybug; how will you be travelling?

J52 Tue 05-May-15 19:47:38

Tegan: sounds a good idea to me. x

Teetime Tue 05-May-15 20:00:44

I'll pop on the train and get a taxi from the station- what time are we meeting? I'm away in Yorkshire Dales next week so wont be on here for a while - kitty has my mobile number.

Tegan Tue 05-May-15 20:08:41

In that case I'll use the train as well and aim to get there @11.

Teetime Wed 06-May-15 09:11:38

Ok I'll do that and we can share a cab. Will Pm you my mobile number.

kittylester Wed 06-May-15 09:57:20

I doubt I'll be doing the Cathedral bit but I'll meet everyone at Carluccio's at 2pm and book for 6, if that sounds ok? The Richard III website advises booking but that might not be such an issue on a Tuesday. We are taking DGS1 on a Saturday - heaven help us! grin

The Cathedral's Artist in Residence is exhibiting some of his paintings from the re-interment in the Cank Street Gallery which is close to the Cathedral, if anyone is interested!

kittylester Wed 06-May-15 09:59:02

Meant to also say that if anyone else would like to come - please say - you'd be very welcome!

Grannybug Wed 06-May-15 10:07:36

Sorry for late response I plan to travel by train and will check times today.

Teetime Wed 06-May-15 11:04:27

Ok yes I don't want to go to the cathedral but will do a little shopping before seeing you at C's at 2pm.
