As mentioned on previous thread (Ladies who like to lunch in London) I'm just starting this one.
If anyone fancies suggesting a date for a new Meet, or a venue (though Debenhams is pretty central) it would be lovely to see you all.

I'll take any vaccines offered - I had my flu jab and pneumoccal jab last month and will get shingles next month (covid booster this month).
I think some of you may have had your covid booster earlier than me as you had your first covid jabs earlier. I am (just) under 70 so had my first jabs later than those in their 70s.
Despite the strain the NHS is under, I think we are lucky to get offered all this to help keep us healthy.

I agree but I was classed as being clinically vulnerable hence my personal extra precautions.

I have not been on a tube since we last met for coffee prior to Covid although I have been, reluctantly on the occasional bus.

Following with interest. I live on the Shirley/West Wickham borders and can get into London quite easily.

Hello Ladies,

On the 22nd my GP Surgery finally offered me and OH the booster in the hospital where the surgery is based. They only offered Pfizer so we went and took it. Prior to that, although we are 15 minutes from Marble Arch by car, we were only offered Modena over 30 miles away. So now ready to join a meet up, triple jabbed, flu and pneumonia too. Just give me the courage to get on public transport right now. Anyway, wishing you all a lovely Christmas, especially the ladies I already met in Debenhams.

My friend went to 'see the lights' with a group that usually go on organised walks. Now she has Covid - and her elderly mother will be alone tomorrow. Was it really a good idea, with London the plague capital?

Catterygirl Fri 24-Dec-21 23:14:11

Sorry to hear that Hetty58. I wouldn’t risk much at the moment.

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-Dec-21 08:04:33

I really think we should forget about meeting for the foreseeable future. I would be on a bus and two tubes to get there and I do not think that would be a good idea at present. We may all have had our vaccinations but we obviously do not know the status of our fellow travellers.

At present I am only going out to buy food. I live on my own and cannot afford to be ill or worse, hospitalized.

Happy Christmas everybody.

loopyloo Sat 25-Dec-21 08:46:15

Happy Christmas to you Charleygirl.
Looking forward to seeing you all when it is comparatively safe to do so!

Hetty58 Sat 25-Dec-21 11:02:51

Merry Christmas to all. An estimated one in fifteen people now have Covid in London - so there's likely to be one in every bus and train carriage - quite enough to put me off.

My friend is feeling very tired and achy with no appetite.

Elusivebutterfly Sat 25-Dec-21 11:05:39

Happy Christmas to everyone here.
I agree travelling to central London is not a good idea at present. I am just going to my local High Street.

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-Dec-21 12:44:25

I agree, I live on my own, did food shopping on the 23rd and I do not intend to leave my front door until the middle of next week. My local Waitrose was heaving.

Niobe Sat 25-Dec-21 21:05:56

Merry Christmas everyone. I’m another one who is staying away from public transport and for the past 2 week we have been acting as if we are in lockdown. We have a new granddaughter (born on Christmas Eve) and we certainly don’t want to take any chances with her health. Shopping for essentials is done early in the morning and only once a week. If anything runs out we do without. I do hope we will be able to meet up again when it’s safe to do so.

Catterygirl Sat 25-Dec-21 22:39:12

Merry Christmas ladies. I look forward to a meet up but not until it’s more safe for us all. Have a good Boxing Day and stay safe. X

Bellanonna Sun 26-Dec-21 22:38:28

I’m a bit late for the Merry Christmas greeting, so I wish everyone a happy - and above all - a safe 2022. I hope you all enjoyed Christmas.

Niobe, congratulations on the new baby. I hope we will see some pictures of her in the reasonably near future.

It seems that we are agreed that meeting in London for now is not a good idea, but perhaps early spring will be a possibility? It will be lighter longer, and certainly warmer.

Keep healthy everyone.

Anyone feel it’s safe for a meet up now?

I am meeting my walking group in Hyde Park for the first time in two years tomorrow. Not keen on a bus so will take Uber, fingers crossed.

Niobe Thu 10-Mar-22 06:27:04

I was just thinking that we could meet up now that restrictions have been lifted. Any day but Wednesdays suit me. Hope everyone is well.

Niobe Thu 10-Mar-22 06:31:47

P.S. Bellanonna, I shall bring plenty of photos of our little madam. She has already figured out how to get you to walk around with her rather than just sitting down holding her!

Charleygirl5 Thu 10-Mar-22 09:59:42

It will be lovely to meet up again soon. I am really looking forward to seeing those photos Niobe. The next problem is where do we meet up where we do not need a mortgage to buy a coffee and maybe a snack at lunchtime. How could Debenhams let us down so badly!

Catterygirl Thu 10-Mar-22 17:08:12

Just saying, I didn’t make it to my walking group. We used to meet at the quiet lions gate in Queensway but now at Speakers Corner which is hectic. I couldn’t sleep worrying about it and had to cancel as felt unwell after a bad nights sleep. I guess it will be baby steps for me,

sabru Sat 12-Mar-22 15:44:50

I would like to join your Meet Up in Central London. Thanks

Charleygirl5 Tue 01-Nov-22 12:27:22

I was having coffee with friends the other day and it dawned on me we had not met up for ages.

Now that Debenhams has inconsiderately closed, what about John Lewis, Oxford Street on the 5th floor? It is handier there if anybody wants a snack for lunch and the loos are close by. The 4th floor is very quiet but it is for coffee only, from memory.

Before or after Christmas- what is the general consensus? I will go with the flow. No anti-vaxxers, please!

loopyloo Tue 01-Nov-22 14:17:50

John Lewis is fine with me and before Christmas?

Elusivebutterfly Tue 01-Nov-22 14:36:02

I've said before that I would like to join your meet up and would hope to be able to do so this time.
I think there's still time before Christmas to arrange something. After Christmas there's more chance of bad weather and more covid/flu.

Charleygirl5 Tue 01-Nov-22 21:30:22

I have bumped this up and hopefully others will see it.

Charleygirl5 Thu 03-Nov-22 09:27:57

Only 3 of us appear to be interested, loopyloo, ElusiveButterly and myself. Anybody else interested?

Loopyloo are you not in touch with Niobe occasionally? I think she may be interested. I will nudge Bellanonna.
