Hi. Are there currenrlt any meetup groups near to Newcastle upon Tyne? I would love to come along.

Fennel Tue 16-Jul-19 08:57:29

There's a Northumberland group who meet regularly at a place near Morpeth. Just off the A1. I would like to go but live the other side of the river and no longer drive.

Hi Fennel and Diane. I've never manage to get to Heighleygate as my husband monopolies the car, so I have to take public transport. Getting to Newcastle is much easier. The train takes 1 hour and the bus a little longer. I would like to meet up sometime. I'm away on holiday at the beginning of August, so any time after that would be great.

Diane227 Tue 16-Jul-19 19:25:10

Hi Fennel and Minimoon. I also live South of the river. I dont drive anymore so couldnt make it to the Morpeth meet up.
Would you like to meet for coffee somewhere ? Im not going away this year so can probably fit in with you . Do you want to suggest where and when ?

52bright Tue 16-Jul-19 21:24:50

Hello Diane227, Fennel and Minimoon. I would love to join you for a coffee or a lunch if I may. I can easily use public transport for a Newcastle meet up but have not been able to make it to Heighleygate. Maybe we could meet up with any others who are local. Hope there is a day and place we can all meet up.

For me ladies, it will have to be mid August or after. I'm beginning my holiday to Ireland in 28th July. Please arrange a date and I will try to come.

52bright Tue 16-Jul-19 23:49:18

I go on holiday 13th of August for 11 days so late August or September would link with you MiniMoon. Could also meet before your 28th July holiday if that fits in with more people though maybe that is too close a time now to get a date everyone can meet.

Just found this thread. I live a metro ride away from Newcastle, well when it’s running I do....wink otherwise I live a replacement bus away. I am South of the big river too .

I still work and do a lot of child care too, so would need a fair bit of notice and some days are impossible . Although I can can sometimes wangle a Friday (it’s half day anyway) . I will see how things look once some dates have been fixed.

Fennel Wed 17-Jul-19 11:24:57

The easiest place to meet could be at John Lewis in Eldon Square.
I'm not sure if they've got more than one coffee shop.

Diane227 Wed 17-Jul-19 21:33:41

Hi everone John Lewis is fine for me. Just let me know what date suits everyone. Mid August is good. Looking forward to it.

52bright Thu 18-Jul-19 00:20:22

John Lewis sounds great if I'm back from my holiday. Hope I can make it ladies. Would love to meet you all.

Hi All. I would love to see you all. John Lewis would be a great place to meet.I am free most of August other than Thursdays.

Fennel Thu 18-Jul-19 08:48:50

We're not planning to go away in August, but I have things to do on the 1st and 12th.
We just need one person to organise it!
Not me, I'm beginning to 'lose it' in fact I lost a day this week.

MiniMoon Thu 18-Jul-19 09:41:51

Any date after the 11th August will suit me fine. I need a good hour travelling time, so late morning/lunch time would be about right. I'll look forward to meeting everyone.

Diane227 Thu 18-Jul-19 14:51:20

Hi. Reading through the posts , am I right in thinking that for everyone to be able to come along , the end of August is best ?
Howabout Friday 30th at John Lewis at 11.30am ?
Gillybob . Is that any good for you ?and Minimoon does this give you enough time to get there ?
Can someone advise the best coffee shop though please because im not sure where they are in the building.

52bright Thu 18-Jul-19 23:41:43

The 30th August would be good for me. Would be lovely to meet up with people we 'know' through Gransnet. There is a coffee shop/restaurant on the first floor which does everything from breakfast bacon butties/morning coffee/tea and cake/lunch ext. That is the only one I know of but there are others. Think there is one a floor up where furniture dept. is as well. Hope everyone can come.

onaclearday Fri 19-Jul-19 07:20:11

Friday 30th August would be good for me. How will we know each other? I think there will be six of us up to now so it might be difficult to get a table unless they take reservations. I am looking forward to it.

Fennel Fri 19-Jul-19 09:12:23

Someone in the Morpeth group buts a red handbag on the table, some sign like that.
I'll try to come too Friday 30th August at 11.30 am.

MiniMoon Fri 19-Jul-19 10:55:42

Friday the 30th looks okay to me. There's nothing on my calendar. 11:30 will give me time enough if I catch the 9 bus. Looking forward to meeting up.

Diane227 Fri 19-Jul-19 11:36:12

Sounds as if we have a plan. Looking forward to meeting everyone then.
I have a yellow handbag if thats any help ? I can try to get there a bit earlier and grab a table for 6.

gillybob Wed 21-Aug-19 12:25:02

Just bumping this up.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed I will make it smile

Diane227 Wed 21-Aug-19 21:21:24

Hope so too Gillybob . Looking forward to it.

swji1 Wed 21-Aug-19 22:12:47

I’d love to come too if I can! I’ve been waiting for a local meet up so good for Diane227 for sorting this out. Is the coffee shop the one coffee next to the Lighting section in John Lewis? Sounds good. There are usually plenty of room on the right up side

Stella14 Wed 21-Aug-19 23:38:35

Another northern Gransnetter who lives south of the river. I can certainly travel to Newcastle, but maybe there are enough of us south of the river to have the occasional meet-up there.

Sadly, I can’t make the 30th as I can’t do Thursdays or Fridays. If others are arranged in the future for earlier in the week, I’ll always be there unless I’m away on holiday (next one January).

Diane227 Mon 26-Aug-19 12:12:47

Hi everyone. Is it decided that we are meeting in the coffee shop next to the lighting dept ? See you there.
I live South of Tyne too Stella and we can keep you posted for next time.
Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather.
