story here

Apparently we are all requested to ring any bells we can lay hands on for three minutes on Friday, between 8.12 and 8.15 am. According to the Today programme, it includes doorbells.

So, don't forget.

hmm

Being canny, I sent Mr soop outside [in his jimjams] and he rang our doorbell three times...the tune - 'when you are in love'...I was sitting in bed and drinking tea. Rory quite liked it all. He was treated to an extra portion of Tesco's finest feline fodder. flag

I can't imagine what my old feller would have said if I'd asked him to do that! grin

Well, perhaps I can!

Jings Go on, tell us! grin

JO4 Fri 27-Jul-12 13:05:44

soop Fri 27-Jul-12 13:11:45

jings I got one of those yesterday. Threw the car door open with too much muscle and it hit the corner of a wall. The look was all that was required...wink

Rang our victorian school bell ( it's very loud) in solitary state. not a soul joined us or even seemed to notice. No church bells, either. Never mind.

I got out our old school bell ready to join in, turned down breakfast tv so I could hear properly and heard precisely nothing, so put the bell away again. Felt quite thwarted sad

I don't think it was very well advertised. I only knew about it from good old GN flag

PRINTMISS Fri 27-Jul-12 17:34:53

It looked (on the t.v) as if all those taking part were enjoying themselves, and at this time that is important, let's all hope that the Olympics proves a great success for GREAT BRITAIN, it's about time we got our act together, and proved we can do it (I might regret that in 2 weeks time but I live in hope)

goldengirl Fri 27-Jul-12 17:47:40

Anyone see the Minister's [Jeremy Hunt?] bell shoot off it's stick? Best bit of the olympics so far

Ella46 Fri 27-Jul-12 18:00:03

Yeah golden you couldn't make it up could you? grin

Anagram Fri 27-Jul-12 18:20:32

Imagine if it had knocked someone out! confused

JO4 Fri 27-Jul-12 18:32:08

He carried it off very well! grin

for anyone who hasn't seen it

JO4 Fri 27-Jul-12 18:33:54

I hope it's not going to rain for the ceremony. It's come over a bit dark and there are a few little spits and spots. (wrings hands with worry)

Not that I'm actually in London. But it's not far away.

Elegran Fri 27-Jul-12 18:48:09

Meant to go outside and ring the doorbell and a tiny brass bell inherited from MIL but slept in and woke at almost 9 am. I don't think anyone else in the street was ringing anything or it would have woken me up.

I would have known nothing about it if it had not been for GN.
