Watching the news and there have been 2 separate incidents in Paris (one explosion near a football ground and one shoot out at a restaurant.). 4 dead so far. So awful. What is happening?

Totally agree with maggiemaybe re Police budget cuts by Theresa May. The Constabulary in Cumbria have been told to cut budget by £26 million, even the Police dogs are having to go! The Chief Constable says it is overwhelming and you could hear it in his voice.

It's terrifying to think these abhorrent people may have travelled anywhere under the veil of being a Syrian refugee. We need all the resources possible to detect and fight these wicked people.

My heart goes out to those affected in Paris.

The world has gone mad. Thoughts go out to those who have to carry the burden of last night with them for the rest of their lives.

angie95 Sat 14-Nov-15 09:57:31

This is so shocking, I am at a loss for words, We came through two World Wars lost friends and family, and we have learnt nothing. All those poor people who have lost their lives, because of vile cowards
My prayers and thoughts are with those who, have been murdered and with their families who are left behind to pick up the pieces,

Please don't make stupid comments celtic rose. France already is 'in the club' as you so crassly put it. Charlie Hebdo? Does that gain entry? I quite think its because of France's participation in the joint bombing of Syria, but we must not be cowed by these fanatics. I have plans to go to Toulouse next week, not looking forward to it as the city will be crawling with security but to cancel my trip would be to surrender to terrorism.

angie95 Sat 14-Nov-15 10:01:49

They need to be stopped! We should not have to live in fear, or worry when we leave our homes, for shopping or concerts etc, and sit worrying when our children or grandchildren,go out, It is disgusting, I knew Alan Henning, he was a friend of mine, and I could not believe what they did to him, all of us who live in Eccles, Salford, were and still in shock, and yet these idiot cowards are still murdering people!

Anniebach Sat 14-Nov-15 10:03:16

Perhaps revenge for the bombing of the MSF hospital in Syria

Bellanonna Sat 14-Nov-15 10:07:03

Vile beyond words. A Friday 13 th we'll never forget.

jogginggirl Sat 14-Nov-15 10:08:08

In our hearts and minds today

merlotgran Sat 14-Nov-15 10:08:47

Very impressive immediate response from Paris' armed police and the army.

Let's hope we are similarly prepared.

Anniebach Sat 14-Nov-15 10:10:54

Alan Henning was warned not to go there, but he certaintly didn't deserve to die for doing what he thought would help people, neither did those working for MSF deserve to die, but no great outcry over America bombing a hospital then saying - sorry, it was a mistake.

All killing is wrong, why is killing of innocent people in the west so very wrong but killing innocent people in the middle east justified

diddy Sat 14-Nov-15 10:10:59

Dreadful news , My son and family live in France and have often been to concerts at the venue where so many people died,I'm very relieved that they wern't there last night !!

soontobe Sat 14-Nov-15 10:12:22

I would like to say a big thank you to all those people around the world who try and keep others safe.

rosesarered Sat 14-Nov-15 10:13:50

ISIS does not need the excuse of bombings in Syria, it would bring it's own brand of evil to Europe whenever it could anyway.Perhaps now all Western countries will join with Russia to rid Syria, and Iraq of these people. We can only hope! you have to wonder as well, if the Paris killers sneaked in from Syria along with the genuine refugees a few weeks ago.Europe can no longer have open borders.

soontobe Sat 14-Nov-15 10:14:34

Anniebach. I think that your last paragraph might be better answered on a thread of its own.
Though I dont think I would want to try answering it today, personally.

rosesarered Sat 14-Nov-15 10:16:52

Anniebach this is no time for a rant about either Britain or the US.This IS the time though, for a rant about the evil lot who call themselves ISIS.

Bellanonna Sat 14-Nov-15 10:17:20

Yes that's a positive thought soon. I'm sure we're all reeling in horror from this devastating news.

Katek Sat 14-Nov-15 10:31:00

I have no words.

henetha Sat 14-Nov-15 10:53:31

There is absolutely no excuse for the actions of these evil men last night in Paris. My heart goes out to the people in this beautiful city.

gillybob Sat 14-Nov-15 11:08:57

I agree with Greyduster this should be a giant wake up call for the UK where sadly it is only a matter of time before we have something similar in our own doorstep. Pure evil.

JamJar1 Sat 14-Nov-15 11:23:05

I think the UK has been awake for a while. We have been under the highly likely an attack is imminent warning a number of months now. As I believe were France. Senseless and shocking.

Alea Sat 14-Nov-15 11:38:11

You know I frequently disagree with you Soontobe wink, but that is one of the most sensible remarks I have read and especially your second sentence which more people might bear in mind.

KatyK Sat 14-Nov-15 11:40:01

It's horrendous. I agree with you gilly . I don't believe people in the UK are vigilant enough. I know someone who recently saw an unattended holdall on the pavement outside a coffee shop and when she suggested to the staff that it could be suspicious, they treated her as if she was mad.

Bennan Sat 14-Nov-15 12:00:12

I agree with Alea and Soontobe in that nobody said anything about killing in other parts of the world being of less importance. Any killing of innocent people is to be deplored wherever and whenever it occurs. Isis has to be fought on every front until they are destroyed. There is no alternative! Paris yesterday, where tomorrow?

Elegran Sat 14-Nov-15 12:14:56

They are doing their best to demoralise "the West". Please don't help them, anniebach

Dillonsgranma Sat 14-Nov-15 12:27:26

I fear that france will declare war, and all hell will let loose.
