Anyone else seriously concerned at the rise of Trump in the USA? It seems that the more extreme, the more crazy, the more fascist he and his 'solutions' become- the more his ratings go up. You would have thought that people would begin to think he is a loose and dangerous canon- but no- they love him all the more.

My mother was studying German at Munich University in 1933- and this is exactly what she described.

And we can't just say 'this is the USA' and it has little to do with us. We have no vote of course- but we certainly live in the same crazy world.

Monthy Python- they knew how to recognize a witch- but how on earth do you recognize a 'Muslim' ???

Trump is to be discussed in Parliament.
They are also discussing the petition to allow him in, which only got 40,000 votes.

Trump trying blackmail. Wouldn't expect anything less.

Looks like Corbyn has invited Trump to visit a mosque in London... www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-18/uk-opposition-leader-invites-trump-to-visit-london-mosque/7094208

It has been pointed out that David Bowie and Alan Rickman have both died at 69 and Trump is also 69. Fingers crossed?

Anniebach Mon 18-Jan-16 13:22:57

It is often said the good die young , he will see 100

Elegran Mon 18-Jan-16 13:40:23

Unfortunately.

Elections are extremely long drawn out theatrical events in the U.S. No doubt the dear mister Trump is providing some light entertainment to distract everyone from the real events going on in the world at the moment. It is very unlikely that he will get anywhere once the real voting starts. I have it on very good authority that Ted Cruz is far, far more extreme than Trump and he could well quietly slip into a position of great power whilst everyone keeps focusing on the ridiculous Donald Trump. Interesting times.

durhamjen Tue 19-Jan-16 19:40:36

Hopefully it will not matter, wondergran; Hilary will beat them both. The US has already done the unthinkable and elected Obama twice. Perhaps it's time for a woman.

durhamjen Tue 19-Jan-16 23:22:59

Sarah Palin is now backing Trump. Who is Sarah Palin now? Does she matter any more?

Anniebach Wed 20-Jan-16 08:39:23

Good grief the lunatics have taken over the asylum, the thought of that ghastly woman's voice screeching out again makes me shudder , the tea party lot love her

Riverwalk Wed 20-Jan-16 09:15:31

She was always a bit of a joke but that screeching was unbelievable! I wonder if she was on something hmm

Can you imagine President Trump & Vice-President Palin grin]

Anniebach Wed 20-Jan-16 09:29:29

Just cannot think of it, she is barking

GillT57 Wed 20-Jan-16 09:41:44

Her voice is like finger nails on a blackboard.

Anniebach Wed 20-Jan-16 09:50:32

Wonder if her favourite pass time is still shooting Mooses - what is plural for moose or perhaps it's just moose grin

annodomini Wed 20-Jan-16 09:57:46

If the US wants to be nothing but a worldwide joke, they will elect Trump. Surely sanity will prevail. hmm

Anniebach Wed 20-Jan-16 10:07:46

God help the world if America does elect Trump , and Palin as vice

GillT57 Wed 20-Jan-16 11:11:20

Talking of hunting, it seems that Donald Trump junior is a keen huntsman and there are some delightful photos that he ash posted on facebook of him holding the tail that he has just cut off an elephant that he shot, and another of him holding some kind of big cat, also dead. Lovely family.

Luckylegs9 Thu 21-Jan-16 16:05:43

He is laughable, can you see him talking with world leaders? Palin as his deputy what a double act that would be.

durhamjen Mon 01-Feb-16 19:09:56

This is going to be interesting.

beastrabban.wordpress.com/2016/01/31/secular-talk-huffington-post-to-call-trump-liar-and-racist-in-all-articles-on-him/

Will Trump ignore it, or sue them?

obieone Mon 01-Feb-16 20:23:00

The idea is unworkable for more than a day.

durhamjen Mon 01-Feb-16 22:07:09

What idea? The idea of having Trump for president? I agree with you if that's what you mean. The problem is that if they vote for him, he could be there for four years.

absent Tue 02-Feb-16 05:52:11

He came a clear-cut second in the Iowa Primary but, of course, it's early days…

Elegran Tue 02-Feb-16 09:56:04

He was trumped in Iowa

JJ50 Tue 02-Feb-16 14:59:33

In my opinion Trump is a very dangerous buffoon who would be a threat to world peace if ever the US was crazy enough to elect him as their president!
