Traingate

The silliest thing about the Corbyn "Traingate" fiasco is that before the railways were privatised, I often had to sit on the floor toing and froing between Preston and Edinburgh. Sometimes there was no buffet car. And the toilets were often disgusting.

I guess Corbyn didn't travel by train much back then hmm

However, the trains I travelled on usually had more space for luggage than current Virgin trains.

You are quite right dj re; G/Bourne. I just feel it is a very stuffy example to trot out.

A JOKE
Reporter; "If you wanted to make a point about crowded train,Mr. Corbyn, why did you not chose a notoriously crowded journey.
Corbyn; "But I wouldn't have got a seat then"

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 16:21:58

Jen, this is a thread about Corbyn not the Tories, I will continuing to criticise thr hypocrite and you can continue to defend him

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 16:26:19

why complain because the head of Sainsbury earns more money than Corbyn, dear God that's mad Jen , you seem obsessed with Corbyn, accept the fact , not everyone is

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 16:26:59

Good one Beam.

durhamjen Sat 27-Aug-16 16:34:51

Sorry, Annie, you've confused me there.
You tell me in one post that this is a thread about Corbyn, then in the next that I am obsessed with Corbyn.
I think you've lost the plot there.

durhamjen Sat 27-Aug-16 16:41:21

Except, Beam, that he had to get from London to Newcastle, so it would have been a bit daft if he'd gone on a train to the south east or south west.
Actually the train to Edinbuurgh is quite regularly packed.

Interestingly, if HS2 happens, the way to get to Newcastle will then be to go to Birmingham first, then Leeds, then Newcastle, reducing the journey by 30 minutes. I think I'd rather keep it as it is.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 16:45:09

Ok Jen

thatbags Sat 27-Aug-16 17:06:44

I suppose people will still be able to go the old way too if half an hour here or there doesn't make much difference to them?

HS2 is to speed up the link between London (British city no.1) and Birmingham (British city no.2), isn't it?

nigglynellie Sat 27-Aug-16 17:16:52

I understand Trade Union leaders aren't exactly badly paid?! But what would a wicked old Tory like me know about the financial whys and wherefore of socialism?!

POGS Sat 27-Aug-16 17:23:08

Well it is more irony every day isn't it.

So you can have your Labour Party membership taken away if you so much as use the 'F Word', yet John McDonnell can't stop himself from using the 'F Word' and is still Shadow Chancellor of her Majesty's Opposition.

How does that work?
--

Labour Lord Sainsbury , Labours biggest Donor over the years is now being threatened with suspension from the party . Yes you guessed it by John McDonnell!

You couldn't make it up.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 17:49:57

John McDonald said in an interview it was lsbour party staff who were taking memberships away.

Ian McNicoll went on record to say this was a lie because labour party staff were being
Attacked , he explained it was a sub committee of the NEC who were weaning out those who have and will have their membership taken away and not Labour Party employees

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 19:08:58

grin "McDonald"

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 19:24:02

in my defence please remember how LL is pronounced in Welsh , I can't call him McDonall, try this - put your tongue ready to say L but say sh, Llangollen isn't pronounced Langolen is it wink

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 19:28:24

No. It's pronounced Langothlen (with a bit of throat clearing sound behind it)

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 19:32:05

shock Is this right? Llangollen: /sh/an-go/sh/-en

I've been saying it wrong for years!

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 19:42:35

Noooo, it's not sh, it's LL

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 19:55:57

For Jingle

thatbags Sat 27-Aug-16 20:32:08

Knock an el off the end and you'll be able to say his name, ab wink

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 20:57:15

True thatbags, but that would be incorrect spelling.

thatbags Sat 27-Aug-16 21:48:30

So is McDonald. Also, you only have to knock the el off in your head.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 21:56:59

ab I got it from this website (scroll down a bit)

durhamjen Sat 27-Aug-16 22:14:34

dpac.uk.net/2016/08/open-letter-deaf-disabled-people-4-jeremycorbyn-list-of-signatures/

For a bit of balance.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 22:23:10

Jingle, I promise you there is no sh in Llangollen, to be fair LL causes more problems to non Welsh than the rest of the alphabet , except FF is F. and F is V

I am going to get a ticking off for not staying on topic , sorry all, thanks Jingle, break in tension is good

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 22:25:10

No thatbags, McDonal is spelling the name incorrectly, McDonald is spelling correctly just confusing two names smile

durhamjen Sat 27-Aug-16 22:28:43

Sainsbury is not being threatened with being suspended from the Labour Party.
What John McDonnell said was that Labour were showing double standards by kicking out the leader of the Baker's Union, Draper, but not Sainsbury.
That's not quite what you said, POGS.
It's on www.labourlist.org
