Traingate

The silliest thing about the Corbyn "Traingate" fiasco is that before the railways were privatised, I often had to sit on the floor toing and froing between Preston and Edinburgh. Sometimes there was no buffet car. And the toilets were often disgusting.

I guess Corbyn didn't travel by train much back then hmm

However, the trains I travelled on usually had more space for luggage than current Virgin trains.

You can spell your surname however you want. McDonal is a perfectly feasible name - spelling doesn't come into it.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 22:31:37

But thatbags has said it's LL Ana

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 22:33:20

Ab I know! That website I got it from is bollocks crap rubbish.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 22:34:20

McDonal would be said as Mc doe nul

See?

Ana Sat 27-Aug-16 22:35:13

Couldn't we just refer to him as McD?

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 22:39:02

But it was fun Jingle,nthsnkbyou

Ana as members who use the word F are to have their membership withdrawn then there will be no need to refer to him at all

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 22:39:05

Macdonald of the farm fame has got the 'Mac' in it.

So sorry ab. It just don't work.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 22:40:37

Jingle, surely you know I have a problem with spelling

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 22:44:43

AH yes! (if you say so hmm)

'The update, published yesterday, prompted controversy with shadow Chancellor John McDonnell claiming Labour had displayed “double standards” after suspending the left-wing leader of the Bakers’ Union ' but not taking action against Sainsbury after he funded a rival party'.

I will stick with my post as I see McDonnell is saying Lord Sainsbury should be dealt with in the same manner as Draper, suspended.

What he actually wants, POGS, is for Draper to be reinstated, as he has been a Labour Party member for a long time, just like Anniebach.
You will see that if you read the whole article.
Displaying double standards means you want the same outcome for both parties, not the one that suits your specific take.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 23:18:46

I did hear Draper had verbally attacked certain Labour Party members on Twitter

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 23:22:48

McDonald should have said some party members , I am a party member and he is not speaking for me

POGS Sat 27-Aug-16 23:25:12

That's a fair view but if Draper remains suspended maybe McDonnell has a point. However if Draper remains suspended will the Lord Sainsbury connection be dropped?

The connection I made earlier to Lord Sainsbury was in effect the same principle behind Labour suspending Draper and not Lord Sainsbury and the Labour Party suspending ordinary members who use the 'F' word as you reported and the fact McDonnell should be suspended in that case as he called his own MP's 'F----g useless'.

Double standards as you say.

durhamjen Sat 27-Aug-16 23:34:47

But it's not McDonnell who decides who is suspended or not.
Maybe they are just trying out Draper to see what happens. It could be McDonnell next for using that word.
Those who did it were trawling the net to find that word.
They suspend first, then see what happens, see if those suspend

Do you have links to what Draper said, Annie?
After all, you have said a lot against Labour party members on here.

Ronnie Draper's statement.

I thought this was a piss-taking thread about the right pickleswamp the Labour Party has got itself into. We (members, ex-members, supporters, non-supporters) don’t have to be all reverent and holy and defensive on here, y'know. You can ignore tickings off, ab.

I find the whole caboodle embarassing more than anything. I have to laugh and take the piss or I'd cry about it. I'm ashamed of the Labour Party at the moment.

Anya Sun 28-Aug-16 07:55:59

Well said.

obieone Sun 28-Aug-16 07:58:34

As an outside, I have lost track of who "Labour" is.
There are now two sides who are managing to suspend people from the other "side"?

whitewave Sun 28-Aug-16 08:03:31

thatbags thats why I cant join this thread. I am utterly despairing for the majority in this country who dont vote Tory.
There is no-one out there that is fit to be called an opposition, and i have nothing to say about the embarrassment that tries to take that role.

nigglynellie Sun 28-Aug-16 08:09:45

Blimey! what with one thing and another, her majesty's opposition party sounds raving mad! Not much more you can say!

Anya Sun 28-Aug-16 08:13:44

WW you speak for me, and many others too i know.

obieone Sun 28-Aug-16 08:23:26

Mr McDonnell claimed the billionaire wanted to "undermine our democracy" after Virgin trains released footage disputing Mr Corbyn's claims about overcrowding on one of its services.

Showing the truth and exposing fake means "undermine our democracy" to Mr McDonnell.
