Well this could be interesting.

Rosie Winterton sacked from Chief Whips position and Nick Brown back in the Cabinet again. Baroness Shami Chakrabarti has done very well since joining Labour she is now Shadow Attorney General and Dianne Abbot Shadow Home Secretary, Dawn Butler Shadow Minority Ethnic Communities, Sarah Champion Shadow Women and Equalities Minister and Jo Stevens Shadow Secretary of State for Wales.

It will be interesting to see if any who signed 'No Confidence' in Corbyn can/will be in Corbyn's reshuffled Cabinet Team. Time for 'Unity'?

'Disgusting?' 'Cynical and hateful'? I can't believe that so called educated, thoughtful, civilized(?!) people are using this sort of language to express their displeasure at someone else's perfectly valid observations whether you agree with those observations or not! No wonder the world is in such a shocking state if even on this thread we can't treat each other with a degree of courtesy!

durhamjen Fri 14-Oct-16 10:45:50

You assume I've done nothing. I haven't.
I just don't list what I have done as it will just be mocked by you.

Over three quarters of our arms exports go to the middle east.
Do you not think we should stop selling arms to the middle east?
Do you not think we should be the first country to do so?

Government statistics on arms sales, released in July this year.

Liam Fox is going to Riyadh soon to sell more arms to King Salman.

Niggly, trisher said , and I quote - I take the p* out of her. She was speaking of me , she does so because we do not share the same values and beliefs , she calls it - winding her up

trisher Fri 14-Oct-16 10:50:50

If that's how you want to take it Annie. That's fine. I always think it is sadder to hear one person who was committed to peace losing their belief, than hearing the outbursts of those who have always been warmongers.

Anniebach Fri 14-Oct-16 10:55:43

I know all that Jen, don't need to spend my time googling. If you supported a strong , honest leader for the Labour party we would have some hope of being the party in power, instead you worship at the alter of communism, changes need a strong government , you do not

Anniebach Fri 14-Oct-16 10:57:21

Trisher, sadly I have lost all trust in you after you admitted you mocked me

trisher Fri 14-Oct-16 11:01:23

dj it is always much easier to condemn another country for their agression and blame a war on them than to accept that we have any responsibility for what is happening all over the Middle East. Aleppo has provided an ideal opportunity for those who want someone else to blame. I am not saying Russia is blameless, but they showed children dying in the Yemen last night and Russia certainly aren't responsible for what is happening there. We should accept responsibility and set an example- but I suspect we won't.

durhamjen Fri 14-Oct-16 11:03:42

Niggly, is Annie the only one allowed to have strong feelings about this?
She's obviously changed her mind on things, and the rest of us have to change ours, too, and go along with her? Is that it?

As I've said before, at least Corbyn and some of us are consistent.

durhamjen Fri 14-Oct-16 11:06:19

You see, Niggly, I am accused of being communist now, just because I support Corbyn.
I have never been a communist, but Annie is allowed to call us names because she has changed her mind.

durhamjen Fri 14-Oct-16 11:09:06

You know all about arms sales and you support it, do you, Annie?
Why do you not condemn arms sales to the middle east, instead of saying why should we stop because others won't?
Of course, that would mean being on the side of Corbyn, wouldn't it?
Can't be seen to do that any more.

durhamjen Fri 14-Oct-16 11:11:17

Annie, do you really think Tony Blair was more honest than Corbyn?

nigglynellie Fri 14-Oct-16 11:50:22

Of course everyone can disagree with others but name calling and obviously gunning for one person is surely descending to the playground? Incidentally I don't think anyone on here is a warmonger but some of us do have different ideas about how politically things should be handled. I think we would get a much more varied and interesting discussion (!!) If people felt they could air their views without being called names and shouted down. Only ab seems to have the courage to do this and for that she should be commended not constantly vilified.

Anniebach Fri 14-Oct-16 12:29:32

So Corbyn is consistent ?

Divorces wife no 2 because she supported grammer schools - appoints shadow foreign secretary, Home Secretary and attorney general who chose public schools

Said a new style PMQ was needed - gave up on that one

Called Hamas his friends - told the select committee with hindsight that was wrong

Said how much he did during the Brexit referendum - went on holiday

Said the way to peace and solving disagreements was by talking - refuse to take part in a tv debate with Cameron because he didn't approve of what he had done as
PM

And that's being consistent ?

Anniebach Fri 14-Oct-16 12:31:04

Thank you Niggly , such a pity many will not take part in these discussions because they fear being mocked

Jalima Fri 14-Oct-16 12:37:19

There is evidence that US planes are being painted in Russian colours, apparently it is usual practice and part of the training
Could you provide a link for that please
we can then check with SNOPES

When I read the words of the human rights activist and the words of the Syrian Muzna Al-Naib in my previous post I can't help but wonder if they 'soak in' the minds of others.

I guess the answer is NO.

I listened to the Allepo debate in the EU Parliament and the calls of cowardice and non action by the EU regarding Syria were overwhelming. The impotence of the world nations to stop Assad and the subsequent backing of Russia and China has now made the whole situation practically an open goal for Assad to annihilate his own people, which he is clearly doing.

I remain astonished anybody can equate what the UK (and presumably all the other countries involved in Syria) are doing in Syria with the actions of Assad and Russia using barrel bombs, chemical weapons and genocide . God help us.

Jalima Fri 14-Oct-16 12:50:34

Calling people hateful, warmongers and using terms like disgusting seem to be at odds with posters who profess to be peace-lovers.
In fact, the most hatred and vitriol seems to jump out from posts of people who see themselves as people who desire peace.
Shocking and very sad.

There can be very few people who do not desire peace.

Jalima Fri 14-Oct-16 12:56:24

X posts POGS but yes, (at the risk of being sneered at) I agree:
I remain astonished anybody can equate what the UK (and presumably all the other countries involved in Syria) are doing in Syria with the actions of Assad and Russia using barrel bombs, chemical weapons and genocide . God help us

Of course, some British people have always had an affinity with Russia, that is why we have had spies and defectors in the past. At one time a political ideal (but now more capitalist than the West hmm). We all know what happened to dissenters.
Worryingly, Trump also has a good relationship with Putin.

Jalima Fri 14-Oct-16 13:00:28

Here is trisher's claim debunked:

www.snopes.com/u-s-caught-repainting-fighter-jets-to-russian-colors/

Just because something goes around Facebook or on the internet does not mean that it is true.
Some people are just gullible.

POGS Fri 14-Oct-16 13:02:17

I wonder what the people being barrel bombed, their skin blistering and watching the children and loved ones choking on poisons would think if we did actually go along with Stop The War and leave.

Do you honestly think they would be grateful , put the bunting up. I suspect they would think 'It's all over for us now'. Except of course if you are living near Assad.

Have none of you heard the pleas from those inside Syria and out , Syrian people, begging for the United Nations for help to stop Assad, Russia and Daesh? I have never heard anybody asking for the Coalition to leave, indeed they are working with countries like Libya and Iraq now.

It's a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario but is doing nothing the humanitarian route.

POGS Fri 14-Oct-16 13:08:38

Talking of aircraft . During the debate in Parliament it was mentioned if there was any use in making public knowledge the hour by hour flight paths of planes flying over Syria. This could dispelled the who did what , when and where scenario.

No idea if that's something the Military or MOD would agree to but it was an interesting thought.

Jalima Fri 14-Oct-16 13:11:01

Yes, I receive updates POGS and it is heartbreaking.

Anniebach Fri 14-Oct-16 13:30:25

I watched the news this morning, the little ones being dug out of rubble, yesterday a little girl made a plea, she said 'Assad is not good, he kills good people' . I find watching and listening to this day after day so distressing but for me, switching them off is turning away from them

nigglynellie Fri 14-Oct-16 13:51:11

I heard two children on Radio 4 this morning talking about how they were trying to live their lives through this dreadful bombing, they ended, as I'm sure some of you heard, with a plea for us in the safety of the west not to forget them. Are they still alive, or maybe badly wounded? How to stop it God only knows.
On a lighter note, did anyone (I'm sure you did) see the drone delivering medical supplies in remote places in Rwanda? I felt really heartened at watching this, a glimmer of good news?!
A question! No one has to answer! Am I the only person on here who failed the 11+?!!!! If so do I qualify for special treatment?!!!!! grin

trisher Fri 14-Oct-16 13:52:35

Being mocked goes two ways, I have been accused of being a supporter of Momentum, called a Corbynista, a communist and various other things I could regard as insults. Fortunately I have a sense of humour and find all these personal attacks quite amusing. What I don't find amusing is the jingoistic and warmongering attitudes posted. We may go into Syria but just as the results when we went into Iraq were more wide spread and catastrophic than the US and UK ever imagined the results of sending troops into Syria may just create more Aleppos. Isis is a direct result of our interference, without them there would be no reason for the Russians to be there so you could say our policies have led to Aleppo. I don't expect most to agree with me, but be careful what you consider a solution it may just be creating more problems. Incidentally I have no "affinity with Russia" just a strongly held belief that direct intervention by the UK and the US only breeds further confrontation
