Trump. How could all those people vote for him?

Is Lego Danish?

Denmark

Danish people are pretty peace loving and liberal generally but racism exists and sometimes things can go out of control. It is advised that tourists should do a little research about the places they are going to visit in Denmark

Oh dear, perhaps they need to look closer to home too.

Going back to the riots.

As The Last Leg t.v show was mentioned by posters previously I thought Adam Hills made the perfect comment regarding the riots.

He was making the points there were demonstrations and riots in the States " As people were apparently angry that a democratically elected Leader had been democratically elected".

He went to say how much they had spoken of Trump supporters on their show over a period of time, (not favourably) and then suddenly people are smashing up towns in which Hilary was voted for (by her own people)!

They then said how weird it is the people who said Trump would destroy the country were themselves, destroying the country

He said if you are not happy with something let the government know but "DON'T SMASH SHIT UP , YOU'RE JUST BEING A CHILD"

Couldn't put it better myself.

LEGO is a privately run Danish company, which was voted the world's most powerful brand last year. It has a commercial reputation to uphold and obviously doesn't want to be associated with anything it considers damaging, such as the Daily Mail. It regularly disassociates itself with projects it considers unethical.

You can hardly blame the company for racism in Denmark!!

Anyway, you'd be far better off buying LEGO mini models from me. Mine are original and custom made. They're not much more expensive than buying the Daily Mail and you'd have a warm glow from helping a fellow human being earn a few extra pounds. wink Seriously, you can buy better models on EBay, which is where most of the 'free' gifts end up.

PS. Uselss fact of the day...LEGO produces more tyres than any other company in the world.

Watch out!

An excellent message. I hope other colleges do something similar.

durhamjen Sun 13-Nov-16 00:09:14

Daphne, I wonder where all those tyres are. Lego tyres never wear out, do they?

POGS Sun 13-Nov-16 00:11:38

Ah , a good old link to Prides Purge/Tom Pride (pseudonym)

Your link says this durhamjen

"The etymology of the name ‘Donald Trump’ means ‘The Great Deceiver’ in old English

So why is it not even one of them has noticed that Trump’s name literally means “The Great Deceiver” – or in other words another name for Satan and the name of the person who is supposed to bring about the end of the world in the book of Revelations."

I prefer the logic of wikipedia

Trump (surname)
Trump is a surname of English and German origin:

an English surname derived from Old French Trompeor "maker of trumpets" (modern surnames Trump and Trumper). Recorded in the 1270s in the forms Trumpur, Trumpe and Trump.
a German surname, from a word for "drum"; notable as the surname of American entrepreneurs Frederick Trump, Fred Trump and Donald Trump.[1]

Your link to Tom Pride does declare an ' irreverent look 'at UK Po!itics.

As you say 'Watch Out', for links to biased political 'clap trap'.

durhamjen Sun 13-Nov-16 00:15:00

No sense of humour, POGS.
I know exactly what my link says. Believe it or not, I do read links before I post them.

durhamjen Sun 13-Nov-16 00:22:25

tompride.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/trump-meaning.png?w=762

He had the old etymology of the word on his link.
Didn't you see it?
Wikipaedia is written by anyone, people like you and me. We can all add to it, so it's not as authoritative as a dictionary or a book of etymology. But that's okay; you can believe what you want. Free speech on GN.

Eloethan Sun 13-Nov-16 00:23:28

Trump set the tone of the campaign and its aftermath by saying that he would accept the result of the election if he won - implying that he would not accept the result if he lost.

durhamjen Sun 13-Nov-16 00:35:23

I like this from Tom Pride as well. A bit out of date, but that's like all books.
Libdems, don't look at the skeleton page.

durhamjen Sun 13-Nov-16 00:35:34

tompride.wordpress.com/coalition-colouring-book/

POGS Sun 13-Nov-16 01:34:46

They could use that Colouring Book in the college in America I mentioned earlier.

They could have a fun time with the Corbyn Colouring Book too.

Then again Tom Pride only has an 'irreverent look' at UK Politics that doesn't include the left of politics, or am I mistaken. Isn't he connected to other links you put up to Vox Political and possibly Think Left ?

Anniebach Sun 13-Nov-16 08:42:41

I can understand how those students were so distraught, Trump as their president , I feel angry with Corbyn as party leader

rosesarered Sun 13-Nov-16 09:15:29

So distraught ( hope they voted!) that they needed to do a spot of colouring in?grin
Is there a Corbyn colouring book?Really? I want one! I will give him a big black bushy beard, mustachios and a few teeth blacked out. What fun.If students can colour in then so can we.smile

petra Sun 13-Nov-16 09:29:49

Play-do, colouring books, cry-in's. Pathetic fools, l laugh at them. I hope for their sake that when they eventually grow up they never experience * real * grief and fear.

Anniebach Sun 13-Nov-16 09:35:36

An elderly black voter expressed his fear , he was not pathetic and I didn't laugh , his fear of going back to the fifties and sixties is understandable

whitewave Sun 13-Nov-16 09:36:06

They are largely students, it's what students do. Were you never young with foolish ways petra?

Elegran Sun 13-Nov-16 09:39:24

Trompe l'euil is a way of painting a two-dimensional surface so that until you get close to it, it is mistaken for a three-dimensional object.

In the game of whist, trump cards enable the player to win tricks - quite possibly by deceit.

Worthless objects are trumpery.

Blowing their own trumpet is a common occupation of politicians, tycoons and snake-oil salesmen.

whitewave Sun 13-Nov-16 09:44:48

A while ago some of us on here were alarmed at the possibility of the far right spreading its evil ideology throughout Europe, it has spread even further than we envisaged then.

The post war settlement that was such a shining example of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, is being torn to shreds. I am fearful as to what is going to take its place.

We have through the auspices of NATO and the EU, 70 years of peace in Europe.
Putin is waiting in the wings, we have already had a couple of examples of his intention. His satisfaction at the potential breakup of the EU and the knowledge that Trump may be content to allow Europe to become Putins sphere of influence will be a disaster for us all.

Jane10 Sun 13-Nov-16 10:00:44

Elegran a trump means something else altogether in our house -a bottom blast of noxious hot air. No, wait a minute that fits the president elect to a tee!
PS I do know that's childish!
