First blood to Trump

Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.

How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?

Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?

Will his erratic behaviour stop?

Will he be less muddled in his thinking?

What will happen to NATO and article 5?

Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?

Will America be able to contain him?

Mair and stillaliveandkicking.

Do you think other countries will follow America's lead? Will the UK?

And do what? We don't have a 'Donald'>

stillaliveandkicking Sat 21-Jan-17 21:33:08

I think the EU will disband, hopefully and we learn that each country needs to look after their own and help others of course but without a detriment to their own.

Trump has really conned people. It's strange that he is not counted among the super-rich on here.
How many billions does he need to have to be counted as one of the rich?

stillaliveandkicking Sat 21-Jan-17 22:53:59

How to do you know he's done this. Was Obama poor? Was Clinton poor? I don't think anyone that got to that status was without money.

Anya Sat 21-Jan-17 23:04:21

Weird.

Mair Sat 21-Jan-17 23:07:20

Trump has really conned people.

Why don't you precede a statement such as that with an "IMO..."?
It's not a 'fact' DJ, and it would be less bigoted to acknowledge that.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 21-Jan-17 23:09:32

Trump hasn't conned anyone yet! to say that is just ridiculous. He's in whether you like it or not. I can't see anyone else that has come up trumps in my lifetime yet either.

durhamjen Sat 21-Jan-17 23:12:22

Watching Spicer telling the media off. Having to say Trump's crowd was bigger than Obama's so there! Laughable.

Quite sad that people think it's okay to have this conman be President of the United States.

MaizieD Sat 21-Jan-17 23:31:18

Yes it will Maizie. It will eventually bring up the national wage. Large companies will not be able to just cream off higher and higher profits. They will have to pay proper wages for people to work.

Sorry, I don't understand why this is going to happen. Are you foreseeing a shortage of workers when all the EU immigrants (and the non-EU ones?) are thrown out so wages will have to be higher to attract staff?

And a sudden boom in production as a result of all these fabulous trade deals we're going to do with countries we already have trade deals with by virtue of being in the EU?

durhamjen Sat 21-Jan-17 23:34:06

Quite sad that people think that, Maizie. Well and truly conned in this country, too.

I was watching the papers on News24, and someone said that Trump had an intellectual blankness. Good phrase.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 21-Jan-17 23:34:58

Blimey. Trump is going to be good For England, so is Brexit. Unless you have other things to stop England and America wanting this of course. To me, its a bloody dream come true.

daphnedill Sat 21-Jan-17 23:35:54

Now Australia is saying that it won't do a trade deal unless the UK makes it easier for Australians to obtain visas.

daphnedill Sat 21-Jan-17 23:37:02

That's one way of describing his intellectual capacity, dj.

daphnedill Sat 21-Jan-17 23:39:28

Maizie Don't forget to factor in the loss of exports to the US, which currently accounts for 25% of the UK's exports.

durhamjen Sat 21-Jan-17 23:41:58

Please watch 130 now. He's done nothing but be a rich kid with inherited money!

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 00:01:46

I wonder whether the real rich kids like Gates, Bezes, Buffett and Zuckerberg will react. Trump has already tried to diss Soros, who (despite some dodgy dealings) has also given billions to charity.

I can't seriously see Trump being successful at bringing all the jobs from a company like Ford 'back home'. It's sheer lunacy!

MaizieD Sun 22-Jan-17 00:02:58

It's a dream come true for me, too, saak. A nightmare...

daphnedill Sun 22-Jan-17 00:05:17

It's his wet dream!

Just realised the time - off to bed with my pussies!

And for those who claimed that UK marches wouldn't be reported in the American press...

He did really well in his first press conference. Like one of the tweets said, it's going to be good fun over the next four years. I wonder how long Spicer will last.

Nearly six million tweets on the women's march.

Soros, who (despite some dodgy dealings) has also given billions to charity

Using his wealth to mold the world to his own liking.
Thank God the man who 'broke the bank of England' isn't POTUS.
Whatever you think of Trump at least he doesn't hate us.

Mair Sun 22-Jan-17 00:40:43

Soros told the New York Times in 1994. “I am something unnatural. I’m very comfortable with my public persona because it is one I have created for myself. It represents what I like to be as distinct from what I really am. You know, in my personal capacity I’m not actually a selfless philanthropic person. I’m very much self-centered

durhamjen Sun 22-Jan-17 00:44:21

Soros was born in Hungary. He could not be president of the USA.

Mair Sun 22-Jan-17 00:45:44

Phew, that's a relief!
