May is to make an important announcement at 11.15

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 10:51:31

Queen to abdicate in favour of Charles. Cabinet still meeting.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:53:02

Ooooooh Jen,

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:54:38

But queenie could make Charles prince regent and stay queen, perhaps ?

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 10:55:18

Political daughter has just rushed in to tell me it is the bog standard podium and not the posh one so odds are it is an...ELECTION! She tells me that podium is used for party political. Nails down to the quick already.

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 10:56:02

Can't see the Queen allowing TM to steal her thunder if it is an abdication.

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 10:57:58

I'd have thought Buckingham Palace would be announcing anything Royal?

All interesting stuff!

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:58:05

Apparently the Fixed Terms Parliament Act can be overturned by a simple majority.

Maybe Larry's been sacked. sad

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 10:59:42

Odds for a snap election.

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 11:00:02

Larry's been spotted so he's safe! grin

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 11:00:30

Yes, the Palace would announce things Royal. It can't be a death as BBC bods not sombre or dark-dressed enough.
An American journalist pointed out that if it was something international Trump would have tweeted it by now.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 11:00:45

Major announced the separation of Charles and Diana in the house, nothing from Buck house

Elegran Tue 18-Apr-17 11:00:49

We could run a book - choices are:-

Election
Resignation of TM
Abdication (but that would come from Buck House)
QE ill/died (So would that)
We are in a state of war with NK (thank you so much, DT)
We are in a state of war with US
She is giving the dais an airing to make sure it is ready for a future announcement.

Mesddames et Messieurs, faites vos jeux.
Rien ne va plus.

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 11:01:31

Direct Rule for NI?

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 11:01:32

June 8th

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 11:02:05

Unconfirmed but told to the BBC she is to announce a snap election in six weeks, 8th June

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 11:02:43

Enough of wild speculation. Off to be glued to TV.

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 11:03:05

Laura Kuenssberg: Unconfirmed source - it's a GE.(District line tube delay, so she's running to Number 10).

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 11:03:10

TM has said many times that she wouldn't call an early election, but it must be very tempting with the polls as they are.

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 11:03:27

Xpost annie Sorry!

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 11:03:37

Yes I bet my coat on it. It makes absolute sense.
