Click the link - especially if you dislik Corbyn wink

Wouldn't it be funny if she lost her seat. Her constituents voted to remain.

MawBroon Tue 18-Apr-17 11:12:46

Better put the Danish back in the tin sad

GracesGranMK2 Tue 18-Apr-17 11:14:32

Dictatorship seems to be the flavour of the day!

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:15:45

She's pitching herself as the Bexit leader, against her own constituents. I wonder if she talked to them about it.

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 11:16:29

Not prepared to take on Westminster over Brexit. She can't be very confident in her argument.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 11:17:48

Please don't any reporter ask Corbyn if he wants the election, not if he is near a glass door

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:19:28

Shut up, Annie. So hard to believe you are a Labour supporter.

POGS Tue 18-Apr-17 11:19:45

Well I guess what she is basically saying to the other Parties is ' Put up or shut up, put your money where your mouth is ' and vote in Parliament to vote for a General Election.

Liberal Democratic are sounding as though they will vote for a General Election, so they should given their rhetoric and their desire for a Fixed Term Parliament.

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:20:33

She mentioned the House of Lords being against her Brexit plans. They still can be.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 18-Apr-17 11:21:24

It's another referendum on the basis of May's vision (what we understand of it) for Brexit.

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 11:23:31

Wonder if the Tories will outline what their Bre xit will look like, or will they treat people like fools again?

POGS Tue 18-Apr-17 11:23:51

" Dictatorship seems to be the flavour of the day!"

How silly.

I would have thought ALL those who dislike the Tories, those who voted Remain would be over the moon Theresa May has called for a general Election.

Personally I don't think she has much choice other than to call for a General Election but I'm not sure it will go as expected.

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 11:24:43

An election will be voted through otherwise we will be accused of not trusting the people.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 11:25:03

Jen, do not tell me to shut up, I am free to post within the rules of GN , it is because I am a long standing Labour Party member not a float to labour, float to green , or a tactical voter ,ni have been loyal to the Labour Party, I have a right to be angry with a leader who has not been so

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 11:25:13

The Fixed-Term Parliament Act was supposedly to stop governments from calling a snap election when the polls are in their favour.

Opposition parties can hardly not vote for an election, so the Act would seem to have been a total waste of time.

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:27:01

Daphne, here's your chance. Your vote might count this time.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 11:27:50

Some labour seats will be saved now the election is before the boundary changes

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 11:27:55

...... but I'm not sure it will go as expected.

I agree Pogs - it could well turn into another Referendum vote in the way people cast their votes.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 18-Apr-17 11:32:45

Wouldn't it be better for you go an argue it with other party members Annie? That way you may influence something - you certainly don't persuade anyone towards Labour on here and you have the right-wingers cheering. Of course you can put forward your point of view but what are you hoping to achieve by doing so except sounding bitter that your have not got your way within your own party?

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:33:14

Yours as well, Gracesgran.

Devorgilla Tue 18-Apr-17 11:34:05

Trouble with pressing the button for a snap, or any election, you are never sure of the outcome until the last vote is counted, scrutinised and declared. We have had a lot of political 'surprises' recently. Political daughter so relieved she had already booked holiday for that date. Berlin will have to wait.

durhamjen Tue 18-Apr-17 11:35:28

It's moved on. I meant your vote could count this time, Gracesgran.
They are saying that only Libdems will be able to stop Brexit. That's a dilemma for lots of people.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 18-Apr-17 11:37:23

"The country is coming together" - mmmm

POGS Tue 18-Apr-17 11:38:25

Durhamjen

" Shut up, Annie. So hard to believe you are a Labour supporter."

Will you still be promoting GN posters vote tactically or Labour? I am thinking of your post on another thread pointing out the following:-

" It's possible to vote for Europe in the local elections on 4th May. Vote for a candidate who supports the idea of the EU, rather than Brexit."

neweuropeans.net/vote-early-vote-local-vote-european-4-may-2017

Corbyn will have to go against his rhetoric and belief of the past over his stance on the European Union to take the Labour Message to the electorate, Labour is firmly for Remaining in the European Union . Will he be believed, can he show a bit more enthusiasm this time round.
