Voting quandry

I'm a life-long Labour voter but cannot bear to suppprt Corbyn in the forthcoming election. The party will remain a shambles until it is under proper leadership and he seems to have totally lost the plot. I will not vote Conservative for many reasons and I feel betrayed by Theresa May's u-turn on Brexit, u-turn on not calling an election...there is no trust.

I will not abstain - the vote is a privilege. But for the first time I am seriously at a loss. There is no credible opposition. Locally there are no viable candidates that I feel I can endorse in order to make a point. I need to put my X in the box and it's the first time ever I've thought they are all as bad as each other.

anniebach I think you have the right idea in ignoring all GGM2's posts.grin
However, it's very wrong that the attacking posts to you keep coming.

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 13:21:20

Yes, my protege in my old ward is back in and his husband. The one labour councillor in my new ward is back in with an increased majority, I was worried for him, he got in five yesrs ago with only a 24 majority . So proud of my local party , we work so hard for the town . Oh and we held our seat in a third ward, just had a text, so we did it for Welsh Labour Party and our leader Carwyn

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 12:56:18

Anya, I do understand, I have a vote Welsh labour placard on a post on my front lawn . If I lived in Ben Besdshaws constituency I would be out on the leaflet drops , same for .yvette Cooper and many good Labour MP's , I am waiting for the results from the Rhondda, if Plaid takes it then I will be over there fighting for Chris Bryant , I want the party to keep the many good MP's, I want Corbyn out but that isn't going to happen. I would fight for any labour MP on Corbyns hit list . I want the party to survive and remain the .labour party not become the communist party in disguise

GGMk2, Can you really not see what word you left out and I put back in? Just shows you are replying too fast and not allowing yourself enough time to properly read and understand other people's submissions.

I know AB and I had this very (heated) discussion with my daughter only last night. She is a teacher so no need to ask where her sympathies lie.

However, I've taken a deep breath and nailed my flag to the mast by displaying a Vote Labour poster in my window. It will do no good I know, but I'm sure you will understand my decision,

Anya Fri 05-May-17 12:12:40

Yes, I totally agree POGS

Speaking as a Labour supporter myself can I suggest you back off GG2 and try to understand where AB is coming from.

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 12:11:08

Anya, it could have been so different , if labour had a strong leader I would have great hopes of a labour government come June

POGS Fri 05-May-17 12:08:39

GG MK 2 your posts on this thread alone.

" Where you really a LP supporter or just an LP supporter when it suited you Annie? Rather like JC."

" No 'we' Annie, but 'Labour'. Have you left the LP?"

" I am not in the least surprised that someone whose political views are of the exact opposite of those of the party AB says she supports will support what she has been saying M0nica - she has not been supporting the party but the outliers who have done all they can to destroy that party as it is currently constructed."

" And their loss makes you smile Annie?"

"Why on earth would it worry me that Annie doesn't like Corbyn"

Well on the last question it obviously does worry you and a handful of others Anniebach does not defend/like Corbyn, she most certainly did at the start of his Leadership by the way.

You and others who have been basically been insinuating Anniebach is some kind of Labour Saboteur, a turn coat.

I will say again Anniebach has in all the years I have been a member of GN pinned her colours to the mast, firmly RED. unlike those who are 'return' Labour Members.

Where were they then?

I'll tell you where. They were promoting other parties and telling us how the Labour Party were basically crap since New Labour took over. They wanted back to the days of ' Militant'
,Union Control of the Party and now they have it they have the cheek to now accuse Anniebach of doing exactly what they have done on GN themselves.

Why am I bothered?. I don't care which party a poster belongs to I will state my opinion and there is a difference between a poster who is making comments about a politician, party etc. to posters who are making personal comments about a poster.

Anya Fri 05-May-17 11:57:32

Well Warwickshire has gone from NOC to Tory controlled in the CC elections. Our local Labour candidate held onto his place - he's a good man and known locally as such.

I had no doubts that there would be a falling off of Labour votes and I predict a similar result at the General Eiection. That won't stop me registering a protest vote against this government and its failings.

Just a pity the party is not electable.

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 11:52:11

The minimum wage, tax credits , NHS improvements, Building of new schools, sure start etc were Thatchers policies? I think you are mistaken Yggdrasil

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 11:51:56

Yes, that was a disappointment when NL carried on down the privatisation route yggdrasil

yggdrasil Fri 05-May-17 11:40:28

There wasn't the same reaction when Blair invented New Labour, stayed with Thatcher's policies and obliterated Clause 4. Yet that was far more of a change :-(

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:59:39

No 'we' Annie, but 'Labour'. Have you left the LP?

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 10:58:50

Labour has lost 76 seats so far in Wales

Tories seem to be fighting back in Scotland

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 10:55:19

Fitzy, spare a thought for the Welsh, we had the same elections as England plus the Welsh Assembly Election

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:50:41

Of course you were Jalima.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 10:47:52

It wasn't an attack GGMK" it was concern for your wellbeing as it would be for anyone.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 10:47:01

It will be interesting to know how the 'Independents' do in the local elections and if they can work together for the good of their areas.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:46:33

Oh dear GGMK I am concerned about the amount of yawning you do, don't you sleep well?

Oh dear I expect that was meant to be funny. I thought you thought you were not a person who goes around attacking people Jalima - am I your only target of choice?

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:44:27

Does that actually work mathematically POGS? Surely it is more likely that people voted for their real party of choice and put the party they least wanted in. I'm not sure but I don't think it is a likely to work the way you say for any party.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 10:42:24

[yawn]

Oh dear GGMK I am concerned about the amount of yawning you do, don't you sleep well?

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:41:05

didn't she!!!

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:40:32

Brenda did hit that nail on the head didn't Fitzy. I expect it is too early to have the turnout figures - or I am just missing them blush

POGS Fri 05-May-17 10:38:07

durhamjen

" Straw poll decided the last seat."

That's why 'tactical voting' and not standing behind the party you are a member of can possibly cause your party to lose.

So many constituency candidates lose out for the want of so few votes yet those such as yourself advocating 'tactical voting' could be hindering, not helping them by not backing, standing firm with your party candidate.

Anniebach Fri 05-May-17 10:37:02

Still waiting for the results in our town, we have six labour councillors , I just cannot go down for the results, too fearful, waiting for the telephone calls. All this is not helping my ulcer !
