What can TM be thinking of?

Sigh and double sigh.

Not content with taking us into an undemocratic referendum when we are all asked to vote on something where no-one could have a clear picture of the options, the conservatives now have a leader who stands and loudly slags off those with whom we need to negotiate for the secure future of the country. All thoroughly irresponsible - it just makes me want to despair.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 22:55:53

grin Yeah of course she is. That's why most of England will vote for her in the election, we like her due to being weak.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:57:44

The German papers are spot on.

Davis - incompetent
Boris - embarrassing buffoon
Fox - fraudster (where is he anyway?)

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:59:22

I keep hoping that if May wins by a landslide that she'll sack the lot of them and find some half-decent replacements, but I'm not holding my breath.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:00:34

Im glad you're getting your information from the "german papers" as they must be so accurate at the moment grin

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:01:31

Half decent replacements would need a coalition, daphne.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:03:07

Ukip have decided not to stand against Boris.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:10:53

Coalitions don't work grin The more I come on these threads and the more I read I get to realise that "armchair" politicians are pretty flaky. Thank god none of you are actually in the government. You're like little annoying buzzing flies that won't go away and need to be swatted. You can't actually get over yourselves and come together as a nation at all.

Why are you like this?

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:12:58

I did say I'd stay and be annoying. It's obviously working.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:15:02

Its fine jen, we all have to put up with something that's annoying in life, with an occasional swat, it's never perfect.

Welshwife Thu 04-May-17 23:19:58

How do you know none of us are in Govt?

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:23:27

we are not antagonising the EU, purely wanting to leave. The more we state what we are going to do, the more bullying threatening tactics come to the fore which shows fear and weakness. Its a classic example of what dictators do.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:24:03

why would I care welsh wife?

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:25:35

You have a strange idea of who is doing the bullying, saaki.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:32:26

No not strange at all. Are you deflecting jen?

Jane10 Fri 05-May-17 07:25:55

stillaliveandkicking, I'm a May supporter but try to keep an open mind regarding others' opinions. Its not necessary to be so unpleasant to other Grans even if you don't like what they are saying.

Anya Fri 05-May-17 07:35:08

Jane that's exactly why some people come on GN, or indeed just anonymous forums in general wink

Jane10 Fri 05-May-17 08:29:01

Always seems to be the same people though. Wonder how they get on with others in real life? Sweetness and light? Hmmm dubious. Or maybe they feel they can only unleash their dark side if anonymous.

Jane10 Fri 05-May-17 08:29:33

Sad really

Rigby46 Fri 05-May-17 08:30:14

Jane it was kind of you to make that comment but quite honestly it's just feeding the beast.(As ironically of course does my post). As for the ones she usually attacks, I honestly don't know why they bother to response. We should just have the MN biscuit to use or just put yawn or sigh after her posts.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 08:44:45

A yawn would be so useful Rigby smile (What is the MN biscuit, please?)

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 08:58:37

TM knows exactly what she is doing.
Yesterday, I had the local weekly delivered. There was a four page wraparound, Theresa May for Britain, strong and stable, etc., important Brexit message on the back, the rest attacking Corbyn.
Why yesterday? Local elections, of course.
I hope it gets looked into in terms of election costs.
It's nothing to do with local elections or the general election. It's a presidential advert.

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 09:34:28

theconversation.com/strong-and-stable-leadership-inside-the-conservatives-election-slogan-77121

Apologies for this. Worth reading even if the words do make you feel screamingly sick.

sunseeker Fri 05-May-17 09:41:41

dj You say the paper delivered was a weekly, therefore presumably it is delivered the same day every week, so the fact the wraparound was delivered the day before the local election has nothing to do with the local elections. If the usual delivery day was Friday, it would have arrived a day too late for those. Of course it is in relation to the GE, I would anticipate your local Labour party are considering something similar or another kind of mass leaflet distribution

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 10:20:18

The day OF the election.
There are five weeks until the general election, so it could have been delivered next week, to be more useful.

Like I said, it would be interesting to see where the cost of this wraparound comes, because the local Conservative candidate is not mentioned. It is all about Theresa May and Brexit. Nothing about the Durham election.

Has anyone else had one?

GracesGranMK2 Fri 05-May-17 10:37:16

The article about the reasons for using 'strong and stable' is interesting Jen. The Masters my daughter is doing is Organisational Behaviour - it just goes to show that what can be used for good can be used for evil too.

I wonder which would be the very best words Labour could use to show what the Cons stand for - what is the antonym of evil?
