That's a bum, can anyone cut and paste or something the manifesto that took me blood sweat and tears to do this morning please!!!???

nightowl Fri 26-May-17 14:42:09

Don't worry angelab I don't think Annie will put off anyone thinking of voting labour. Her tactics are too irrational for that.

Rigby46 Fri 26-May-17 15:23:20

Can you imagine ab and her gang if JC had said nothing?

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 15:33:38

Rigsby, I don't do gangs, and I don't do the adult version of gangs such as the Corbynite groupies, I stand alone with my own opinions, I agree with some posters, disagree with some, but gangs ? Good grief no, far too juvenile

If Corbyn had waited and held respect for the dead and grieving I would have respected him for that, but he didn't ,he couldn't even wait for the burials . If Farron had used the deaths to win votes I would have said he disgusted me. We all have different views on how respect for the dead and grieving should be observed mine are different to yours and other corbynites , fair enough

angelab Fri 26-May-17 15:34:11

Yes, he can't do anything for doing wrong..

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 15:38:04

Angelab,i criticise him when in think he is at fault, it's what people do unless they have some strange devotion where they think he can walk on water. I do not trust him, he is too fond of back stabbing and he at times lies

Yggdrasil the full speech is here.

In a nuanced speech he said that standing up to terrorism also meant taking a full part in our democracy.
He said: "We cannot carry on as if nothing happened in Manchester this week. So let the quality of our debate be worthy of our country."
He paid tribute to all those who have died and pledged that: "Terrorists with their atrocious acts of cruelty will never divide us and will never prevail".
But he said that it was right to think about how we tackle these issues.
He told the audience: “We must be brave enough to admit the ‘war on terror’ is simply not working. We need a smarter way to reduce the threat from countries that nurture terrorists and generate terrorism.
“Many experts, including professionals in our intelligence and security services, have pointed to the connections between wars our government has supported or fought in other countries and terrorism here at home.”
He said: “That assessment in no way reduces the guilt of those who attack our children. Those terrorists will forever be reviled and held to account for their actions.”

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 16:55:21

What is worrying is the split personalities here, I use to very much critcise Cammeron and not one who now accusing of posting bile and hate didn't make a squeak !

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 16:59:40

So he condemns the terrorist who killed our children and claims they will be held to account for their actions but he defended the IRA and they killed children, oh dear, double standards from the great pacifist who isn't now a pacifist , the friend of Hamas who now isn't their friend

IFS has condemned both labour and Tory spending plans in their manifestos , labours spending will increase taxes to the eighties level

You really want the Labour Party to loose don't you AB. I am sure this is what all the right-wing papers will pick up on too.

I have just watched the man from the IFS and he didn't 'condemn' either Labour or Tory. It was their Deputy Director who was on DP today. He did say that they would be as high as they were in the 80s but he added (which you obviously couldn't bring yourself to do) that, if you compare it internationally, lots of advanced economies have higher tax burdens than we do. So this would move us up to about mid-table in terms of tax as a share of our economy. It would move the UK to a kind of Canadian position rather than say, a Scandinavian one.

Looking at the fact that this is where we would be - not equalling a social-democratic country like the Scandinavian ones but equalling a nice central Liberal one like Canada. If I was you I would be shouting loudly about the fact that our tax take has fallen so low under the Tories that we are strangling growth and leaving people with little to live on and no care when needed.

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 17:38:03

I am concerned for the young people who will see Corbyn as s hero, stopping terrorism, free school meals, no university fees - for England only, thousands and thousands of new house to be built in five years, privatisation of everything, today more police, more money for security forces and much more, god knows what else he will say he will give more money to in the next week, and these young people will be paying high taxes long after most of us are dead .

I don't care who wins the election, the country is heading fior hell in a hand cart

whitewave Fri 26-May-17 17:40:24

Tories lead down to 5 points

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 17:42:53

Corbyn may win, today's speech may clinch it for him

durhamjen Fri 26-May-17 17:46:07

Yougov poll, 65% of respondents agree with Corbyn about the causes of terrorism in UK.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-May-17 17:49:17

Young people are allowed their views just as you were when you were young AB. How dare you talk down these intelligent, well educated young people. They are no more stupid than you are - possibly less so with their view on the years ahead not the years behind.

I doubt the LP will win but if we actually talk about the politics instead of the personalities the gap may be much closer than was originally.

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 17:52:00

GG I didn't say they shouldn't hsve views, gosh you twist my posts so much I sense you think you have your hands around my throat.

Anniebach Fri 26-May-17 17:55:40

65% would agree He was stating what is commonly know - the bloody obvious.

I am waiting for someone to explain how he is going to have talks with IS.

I thought his speech rather like The Donald's, we don't care what suffering is in the world we have to put ourselves first

minesaprosecco Fri 26-May-17 18:07:45

Although this thread has descended (at times) into a playground squabble of name calling (by both right and left supporters, or rather by May and Corbyn detractors), I'd like to answer the OP. Yes, vote Labour if you want investment in the country's future.

whitewave Fri 26-May-17 18:10:10

grin prosecco

durhamjen Fri 26-May-17 18:14:22

Perhaps he'll explain himself on the Andrew Neil Q&A tonight.
Will you watch it, Annie?

yggdrasil Fri 26-May-17 18:16:41

Just to remind you that the Labour manifesto has been properly costed, and validated. A lot of rich people will be paying more tax, and the Tories cut in corporation tax will be restored among other things. I have heard the speech now, it doesn't seem to have been the same one AB heard. sad
You can't talk to IS, they are fanatics; unlike the IRA and Hamas, who did/do actually have some political ends they were aiming for. What you shouldn't do is cut police, and Intelligence people, and the army, (and the NHS) in the name of austerity.

whitewave Fri 26-May-17 18:20:32

Where can I hear the speech I've been out all day?

I just looked at twitter - blimey!!!! May would give her right hand to have comments like that

durhamjen Fri 26-May-17 18:31:29

Here's why you should vote Labour. It's a no-brainer.
