That's a bum, can anyone cut and paste or something the manifesto that took me blood sweat and tears to do this morning please!!!???

durhamjen Fri 12-May-17 14:04:01

Because I say so doesn't count.

daphnedill Fri 12-May-17 14:04:23

Did I miss the bit about confication of private property and collectivisation of the means of the production? hmm

It's about as "far left" as Merkel's CDU and it's laughable to think that she's far left - whatever the Daily Mail's headlines say.

rosesarered Fri 12-May-17 14:04:40

If you are now a Lib Dem dd then you are not a fan of the far left either.
I would define it as Socialist verging on Marxist.

daphnedill Fri 12-May-17 14:05:07

"confiscation"

~lol~ It does count in rosesland. grin

Anniebach Fri 12-May-17 14:06:47

Yes durhamjen, I did because I thought he was honest ,I was mistaken , I defended him because I thought we was honest, now I will not defend him, he is a liar and a hypocrite .

Any apology for your attacks on me for saying he is not a pacifist?

ab is a good example of a lifelong Labour supporter who sees Corbyn and McDonnell bringing the Labour Party down. There are many of them out there.
Will Corbyn resign when he loses? He has said not,but if he stayed would he be relected again? in that case what on earth would happen.

rosesarered Fri 12-May-17 14:13:32

Wouldn't it be nice if all the personal stuff stopped on these threads?

durhamjen Fri 12-May-17 14:23:37

The 48% of those who voted to remain are expected to accept that we are leaving the EU.
Corbyn was elected as leader of the Labour Party by nearly 60% of the vote, but Annie is not expected to accept him as leader.

Something not quite right there.

What is "far left"? When I was an active member of the LP in the 70s most of the members were Union reps. We called eachother 'brother' so and so. I toyed with the idea of joining the communist party, but I didn't agree with some of their principles.
I used to take a communist party magazine which offered very cheap group holidays in Russia, and would have gone, if not for family ties.
As far as I remember the main LP plans were for state ownership of major utilities and companies.
I was lucky enough to spend a postgrad year at the LSE in 1959-60 when some of their brilliant lecturers were involved in planning the LP social reforms of the years to come - very inspiring.

Ana Fri 12-May-17 15:02:16

Hmm...yes, sounds right for the Corbyn lot (not the 'inspiring' bit, just the communist similarities.)

Anniebach Fri 12-May-17 15:07:20

Corbyn and Momentum are working like mad to get more momentum members into the PLC, they want to chsnge the labour rules on how many MP's are needed to support an MP in a leadership contest, they want to reduce the number so they can get a mini Corbyn in

GracesGranMK2 Fri 12-May-17 15:16:51

You go out for a few hours and look where we are!

Tricia - I can't think of anything worse than a party for Pensioners - although I have an idea there is already one.

(still reading the posts).

daphnedill Fri 12-May-17 15:22:33

I went to East Germany before re-unification and witnessed life in a communist country. Strangely enough, after 1989, some East Germans were nostalgic about full unemployment and free childcare.

When I was in East Berlin, I stocked up on some political books and I've never come across anything so sleep-inducing. They were real communist.

If the Labour manifesto had been written by a politician from most European countries, it would be considered social democrat or left of centre. No way is it far left.

It's about time the Labour Party split. There's obviously no way you're going to accept that times have changed annie.

daphnedill Fri 12-May-17 15:23:23

Thank goodness I'm not a pensioner. I can't think of anything worse either!

durhamjen Fri 12-May-17 15:25:48

Just because you are a pensioner doesn't mean you have to join the party.

Anniebach Fri 12-May-17 15:26:21

Daphne, I can accept times have chsnged, it is Corbyn tasking the country back in time which concerns me

politicalscrapbook.net/2017/05/polling-proves-labour-manifesto-pledges-are-more-popular-than-papers-think/

This wouldn't be so if the manifesto was far left.

The chap who runs the institute of fiscal studies ?

MaizieD Fri 12-May-17 17:12:53

Another Progressive Pulse blog (but I said it first on a thread here somewhere grin)

When you listen to all the discussion about balancing the budget, about how any increase in spending needs to be matched by an increase in tax, why does no one mention that an increase in spending automatically generates extra tax?
