I can't find the thread on this - probably a zombie one by now, they've been going on so long!

It's all gone very quiet - maybe the DUP have again stopped taking phone calls from their 'confidence & supply' partners.

Anyone heard anything?

Here here lucky

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 18:36:18

What truth rose

trisher Mon 26-Jun-17 18:39:53

Do you not understand rar that this is a party formed by terrorists with members who were terrorists, not just 'close ties'. Yes it has embraced peace, but it teeters on a knife edge. Suppose Corbyn had tried to form a government with Sinn Fein (and I know they don't take their seats) would you be happy about it? This is exactly the same.

suzied Mon 26-Jun-17 18:47:21

You can't call them dinosaurs as they don't believe dinosaurs existed.

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:00:31

Didn't take them long to ask for more, either.

They have their budget raised by 10% . According to channel 4 Wales and Scotland enraged and that's before Sinn Fein declaring their thoughts on the whole sorry affair

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:04:35

Where did the money come from?

suzied Mon 26-Jun-17 19:05:27

The magic money tree

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:07:35

Look it up roses.

It breaches the Good Friday agreement.

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:10:47

Couldn't I as a tax payer object to my tax being used as a bribe!

Eloethan Mon 26-Jun-17 19:11:26

£1billion - wouldn't this normally be labelled "bribery and corruption"? Whether it's legal or not, I think it's disgraceful - not least because it may cause further problems in Northern Ireland.

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:11:44

It won't be long before there's a petition about that, whitewave.

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:14:18

Damian Green was asked if an extra £550 per person to NI and nothing for the rest of us would not be seen as a bung?

His reply " only if you looked at it wrongly""

Oh dear oh dear.

You couldn't make it up.

Cindersdad Mon 26-Jun-17 19:18:38

It stinks!!

Other regions in the UK are just as deserving.

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:22:46

What sort of cuts to our councils are we having to endure? What sort of cuts to the social services?

Nothing extra for them

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:27:07

So what price the Stormont talks? Arlene Foster involved in a huge scandal and refused to back down.

Can you imagine Sinn Fein willingly cooperating now?

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:27:41

North East population must be bigger. We want a billion!!!

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:29:49

South East is bigger still we need 2bn

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:36:06

Think what that extra money could do for social housing.

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:38:08

Okay, whitewave. Any bids from Yorkshire or Scotland?

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:42:18

Well I suppose Scotland could demand their share of the Barnet formula plus what NI have got so it will be more than 2.5bn I suppose.

Nothing to Yorkshire. Because I'm feeling nasty, - it's rubbing off from this government

durhamjen Mon 26-Jun-17 19:47:36

Oy, I'm from Yorkshire.

Heseltine just said, 'Once you've paid the danegeld, you never get rid of the Danes.'

Jayh Mon 26-Jun-17 19:52:31

No more austerity for NI. Hurrah!
Now what about the rest of us? I am going to email my new Tory MP and ask where the extra bribe money is coming from. If he tells me no cuts will be made to any service in any part of the UK to pay for it, I will laugh.
WTF? How can such a huge sum be found during a period of austerity? We are fools if we don't challenge this. It is not normal and it is not stable.

whitewave Mon 26-Jun-17 19:58:08

It must be challenged!!

suzied Mon 26-Jun-17 20:06:09

isn't this "buying votes" ?
