JC , nor anyone else "needs" to make a speech. he was invited by the organisers, and accepted. People chose, or not, to attend said speech. people can chose, or not, to agree with it. End of.

He could have said no it was neither appropriate nor the time or the place. I would have more respect if he had said no, & it is more than likely that he knew he would be invited/ allowed an opportunity to make a speech .

The point is , TM would with out a doubt have been slated given similar circumstances . Which ever party people support , it is human nature to do down the opposition. I abhor this hero worship evangelistic outlook, it usually ends badly , think Billy Graham !!

Well who knows Devongirl, but that's not really the point is it, the point is some can do no wrong & othes can do no right in various people's minds, that was my point really , I would have had respect for Mr Corbyn IF he had said ( for example) this is neither the time nor the place to make a political speech but thank you for the offer, I will toodle of to my own cuckoo land now?

The thing is thoug, we don't know what would have happened if TM had been invited, whether she would have accepted or not, and if not, why not.

This I just don't understand, Corbyn was invited by a labour supporter , no one knows if May would have attended if invited, why must leaders do publicity ,nit they don't they are critcised. Corbyn did his hug and feeling pain bit for the cameras , his choice. May attended prayers for the victim, for me she did care for the victims of the fire, he chose to hug she chose to pray, as the majority here are atheists they will ridicule this sadly

Agree Annie ,I do think Corbyn is well versed in pulling the wool ohhps sorry playing to the crowd & saying what they want to hear, very dangerous man !

Not me annie, although I have religious doubts I am certainly not an atheist. To me praying in private for the poor souls who were caught up in this terrible catastrophe, instead of grabbing a photo opportunity to prove to the population how much much you care, is a far more sincere gesture. Pied Piper indeed!

Unlike JC, she was responsible for dealing with this disaster in a practical way. All JC had to do was go and offer tea and sympathy. No practical responsibility for him! Photoshots are so easy when someone else has to do the nitty gritty.

Bit late to offer up prayers for the victims. What good will that do?

How do we know she was praying in private? Because she told us.....hmm not private then. Nothing wrong with a hug for a distressed victim. Prince W showed that as well....

He didn't go until the afternoon, I daresay she could have squeezed a visit in.

For what it's worth, I found out that she prayed in private from a friend not through the media. Let's face it she can't do right for doing wrong, so - [shrug]

She was joined by Arch Bishop of Canterbury and others for a private service, no use for Corbyn, private and no cameras

Why would anyone pray for a dead person? I just don't get it. Will it get them a better seat in heaven? Like an upgrade perhaps?

Pity nobody gave them some thought and practical help while they were still alive and might benefit from it
