Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

If the cap fits dj!!,

lemongrove Thu 05-Oct-17 21:11:37

??
Why do you always copy the words of other posters durhamjen ? plenty more words out there.

lemongrove Thu 05-Oct-17 21:15:41

Politicians, like generals, need a bit of luck on their side.
However, in politics things can turn on a sixpence, and May has plenty of friends as well as enemies, and who would replace her?
The Conservatives also have time on their side as we have just had a GE.

I like this title. It just shows how weak May is.

www.politicshome.com/news/uk/political-parties/conservative-party/boris-johnson/news/89555/downing-street-slaps-down

There was no slap down. She just said that he should be careful in the words he chooses.
And it wasn't even May, but a spokesperson. It always is.

durhamjen Fri 06-Oct-17 08:41:44

In all the May mania, the NHS seems to get forgotten about.
The RCN has done a survey where they discovered that 71% of shifts were unsafe according to Nice guidelanes.

Interesting. That was a link to the nursing times.
From here.

Brilliant news, this. Murdoch has been stopped taking over BSkyB for the moment.

secure.avaaz.org/en/murdoch_uk_report_back/?copy

The government wanted it to go through, being good friends with Murdoch.
Avaaz has got Ofcom to look into the bid.

Tegan2 Sat 07-Oct-17 11:42:10

A stay of execution perhaps (for us, not him) but, nevertheless a bit of good news (for once).

durhamjen Sun 08-Oct-17 09:12:25

When you think of the government's help to buy scheme, who do you think they intend to help?

Because this is who they are helping.

whitewave Sun 08-Oct-17 10:49:08

Labour has pulled ahead of the Tories by 5 points. Independent today.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 08-Oct-17 10:50:05

The Sky news is good but he is so useful to the government that I will wait to see the outcome Jen.

As for housing - I am never sure if the government don't understand or don't care but it is certainly one or the other or both.

durhamjen Sun 08-Oct-17 10:51:06

Apparently after the Labour conference yougov did not do a poll as they normally do.
The Tory one was half before the speech and half after, so not the full effect of May's speech.

durhamjen Sun 08-Oct-17 10:53:23

Interestingly, the story about help to buy was in the Daily Mail.
The story about May not having a legitimate government was in the Sunday Times last week.

I wonder why she is losing her MSM backing.

whitewave Sun 08-Oct-17 10:55:45

Wonder if/when May will re-shuffle the cabinet as she is being instructed to do. Idea is to bring in some bright young things and get rid of the useless lot they have now. Plus demote/sack Johnson. There is a conundrum. Sack him and he’ll be a pain in the proverbial on the backbenches, or demote him which he might refuse to accept. Either way he’s trouble and hated by most parliamentarians.

maryeliza54 Sun 08-Oct-17 11:44:59

I wonder which safe Conservative seats are being sized up by RD supporters to get her into Westminster? She's going to have to do a bit of work to shift her position as she's said she'd stay in Scotland but she can play 'It's the good of the whole UK' card. .TM should sack not just demote BJ -he'll be trouble whatever she does but she would show strength by sacking him completely. Maybe GO would then let him write a column in the ES?

durhamjen Sun 08-Oct-17 12:29:48

www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/oct/07/theresa-may-secret-advice-brexit-eu

Time for May to be honest with the voters. It might even salvage a few brownie points for her, and she needs those.

whitewave Tue 10-Oct-17 08:18:46

Javid on Today, stating the bleeding obvious about race and equality and showing what a dearth if ideas there is in this appalling government

whitewave Tue 10-Oct-17 09:43:48

Reading about Maybots little pep talk given in Parliament yesterday. She seems to have managed to antagonised everyone. Still at least she is balanced in her muddled thinking

GracesGranMK2 Tue 10-Oct-17 10:14:41

I didn't watch all the question in the HoP yesterday Jen but three questions were asked about the legal advice while I was watching. The papers should be keeping the pressure on but will they.

whitewave - I think you could be right. I wonder who is left who is really supporting her not just using her to cover their backs.

durhamjen Tue 10-Oct-17 10:35:12

www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-09/u-k-plans-for-no-deal-customs-regime-as-brexit-talks-resume

This says May's victory over hard-liners.
You don't claim victory if all you do is agree with them, do you?

durhamjen Tue 10-Oct-17 12:33:01

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-41559669

It's health questions on in parliament at the moment. There are about two dozen tory MPs in the house.
Just shows how important they think the NHS is.

durhamjen Wed 11-Oct-17 21:31:55

And Hunt told lies as well.

www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/jeremy-hunt-admits-making-false-claims-over-mental-health

Why is that man still in a job?

durhamjen Wed 11-Oct-17 23:39:26

This is how they can give nurses a pay rise - get rid of lots of them in mental health and replace with volunteers. Doctor Fox says it's true.

tompride.wordpress.com/2017/10/10/tories-nhs-doctors-nurses-to-be-replaced-with-volunteers-with-just-15-each-for-training/

GracesGranMK2 Thu 12-Oct-17 08:42:12

I think it would be easier to work out when Hunt told the truth Jen. It would probably only take one hand to tick them off.
