Dear Gransnetters
I am making a sincere request for any ideas and policies you think might help me and my government cling on to power keep the country on a strong and stable path. We are willing to consider anything. Sajid has already launched a housing idea, Michael is busy searching through Jeremy's bins for cast offs and Boris has promised to keep his nose out of things is focussing on foreign policy. But I am sure some of you have really good ideas. Don't worry about u-turns I am willing to swivel 360% and more if it will keep me in power is in the country's interests. So please send them to me. You know what to do, Theresa, if you want any kudos whatsoever from anywhere; get rid.
Telegraph will be quite happy then - maybe.
You need to stop being Theresa Maybe.

durhamjen Wed 08-Nov-17 20:21:14

Well, Theresa, how about it?
Simon Stevens has done a U-turn. Surely you can do another one.

I love the way Hunt says it wasn't a government policy. It was the policy of all the front-benchers who supported Brexit. That's quite a few of the government.

Lots of policies here. You can have a long trip to Iceland to find out about them, and your problems might be over when you get back.

Theresa it's not often you get a FFS on twitter from Ed Milliband, but you did yesterday. It was your night out celebrating Paul Dacre's 25 glorious years with the Daily Mail.
Quite an achievement - he's normally such a nice, polite young man, don't you think?

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 19:47:00

Talking about the Daily Mail, how are you getting on with your tax-dodgers charter?

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 19:50:32

By the way, if you really want people to start respecting you again, you could tell/persuade Philip to give the NHS more money in the budget.

Or have I said that before?

trisher Fri 10-Nov-17 20:09:19

Oh now come on I got rid of Priti Patel- doesn't that show I can be decisive? And now we have the delightful Penny Mordaunt in her place. She appeared on that diving programme "Splash" you know, so if they can have a reality show host as President in the US who knows about PM? We were discussing clamping down on Tax dodgers at dinner dj it is going to take some time as some people are still moving money to safer places

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 20:19:39

Who is we, if you don't mind me asking?
How many Philips do you have dinner with - and which ones?

Perhaps another policy will be to stay in the EU, so you don't upset all the children in the country. You don't want to do that, do you?

JessM Sat 11-Nov-17 09:26:46

That the same Penny who lied through her teeth about Turkey imminently joining the EU and was sufficiently disrespectful of Parliament recently to make a speech that was an effectively a childish "dare" ?

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 09:39:50

Yes, that's her, Jess.
I hope you don't mind me saying so, Theresa, but you appear to have reached the bottom of the barrel now.
Is that why you have not sacked Boris?

trisher Sat 11-Nov-17 10:17:43

dj "the best place to hide something is in plain sight". Boris is doing his best and while people are busy complaining about him they don't notice how useless the rest of us are we are free to get on with a proper Brexit. Did you notice I have set a definite date?

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 10:41:15

I noticed. Very definite.
It could be before or after that time. Brilliant, Theresa.
Who do you think you are fooling?

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 13:46:30

Can you, please, Theresa, give Davis a bit of back up in his negotiations, as you are obviously not going to sack him either?
Have you realised that if you have not reached an agreement with Barnier in two weeks, we will be crashing out of the EU without a safety net?
Is that what you intended in the first place?

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 14:26:34

"The Foreign Secretary was expressing a personal view that he respects this Spanish tradition. However, he does not personally support bullfighting and he is proud the UK upholds the highest in animal welfare standards, including the ban on bullfighting in the UK."

Please, Theresa, can you gag Boris?
His foreign office support must be getting fed up of trying to cover up for his stupid remarks.
Have we ever needed a ban on bullfighting in the UK?

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 15:47:11

When are you bringing the book out?
I notice that John Crace has one called I, Maybot, just in time for your Christmas reading.

JessM Sat 11-Nov-17 16:26:42

You know I think you could safely sack him now. He'd be a troublesome stirrer on the back benches, it's true, but surely the days when he was a credible contender for a leadership challenge are now gone. People only voted for him for Mayor of L because he was a larf. The joke has worn very thin and left nothing but a big mouth with no grown-up judgement ability. And if I could suggest, instead of re-assigning his grace-and-favour weekend cottage to another FS, you could use it for temporary accommodation for some homeless families for a while.

trisher Sat 11-Nov-17 16:56:49

I am taking Boris's unsuitable statements very seriously but thank goodness for the distraction and will soon find a way of dealing with him. His silly remarks have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we have been given a two week deadline by Barnier and the EU. And we haven't a clue about what to do.

durhamjen Sun 12-Nov-17 10:15:09

I think you really need to call another election, if only for your own sanity. I see Gove and Boris are best buddies again.
The Labour party can get rid of Boris.

FarNorth Sun 12-Nov-17 10:30:30

I'm a little confused over how the government is coping with Brexit negotiations, while seeming to be very taken up with internal problems and general squabbling.

I expect you don't have time to explain that, tho, Theresa, as you only came here to ask for policies.

Maybe it doesn't matter what your policies are. Just get something or other printed up, as a hymn sheet for everybody to sing from.

durhamjen Sun 12-Nov-17 11:00:03

These forty aren't singing from it.
Watch your back, sides and front, Theresa.

Dear Theresa
I hear Cameron has a book about to be published and has bought a house in Cornwall with the Royalties. Perhaps now is the time to be planning your retirement project book. I'm sure you're already collecting material for it. What would be a good title?
"Hanging on by the Fingertips"?
I'm sure other gransnetters could give you good advice on this.

durhamjen Sun 12-Nov-17 11:41:50

"Hiding in Plain Sight" ?

FarNorth Sun 12-Nov-17 12:26:12

Come on , mostlyharmless, Theresa doesn't have time to think about that, she's busy running the country.
I expect Theresa's onto that already.

"How to be PM Without Really Trying."?

mostlyharmless Sun 12-Nov-17 12:28:01

"Et tu, Priti?"
Or Andrea, or Anna, or Michael, or Philip, or Damien, or Gavin, or Boris (of course) etc etc
