Petra, Read some German newspapers and you will find that Schultz's ideas are described by many as 'absurd' and 'laughable'.

I seem to recall, from recent reading, that the reason that Juncker got the Commission presidency was that Merkel didn't want Shultz to get it. Perhaps she's not terribly keen on an EU federation either.
I really don't think this is a runner.

Regarding Brexit there are good and bad points on both sides, as well as those who publish them. Here there is plenty of evidence that this whole matter has energised members to get involved and comment. That has meant much thought even by those who claim not to understand. If we are asked to vent our views elsewhere I believe we will do so with vigour.

They must have done some sort of impact assessment to know that they needed to double the number of visas for those talented people from outside the EU.
Surely that wasn't just wishful thinking or guesswork.
