A continuation of www.gransnet.com/forums/news_and_politics/1241620-Corbyns-Momentum

Corbyns unknown peace prize was in the Mail today apparently. He joins a long list of people awarded peace prizes you've never heard of. Like the Confucius Peace Prize won by Mugabe.

Oh I thought you were a new reformed lemon

My life is full of disappointments.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:25:15

No one but a small number care about the loose cannon, past history, etc., Lemons, if the party he leads offers them what they want. I agree all the nonsense that is put out about him will influence in the election after that - depending on how the party has done - but I do not believe it will in this one. Many of the votes will be anti what we have had rather than pro. If they then show they can give the public what they want they will stay in power.

I am really not sure how the Conservatives will manage as, listening to various programmes they have so few supporters who will be able to do the door knocking, etc., for them. Should we really have parties standing that are backed by the rich and the off-shore when they have so few voters as members?

Down to 70k ancient relics now gg

Primrose65 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:31:56

Just ignore them lemon. Some of the posters here are the reason we have middle fingers.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:33:52

Just how extreme can you be Jalima? I feel quite worried by posts like that.
There is nothing extreme about wondering how someone can feel compassion for some but not others.
I would feel compassion for the homeless, the poor man who died and those who lost their lives as a result of the Troubles in Ireland.

Another sick post, Jalima. I didn't expect that of you.
That is in fact a contradiction in terms.
Another means something is habitual.
'Not expecting it' of me means I do not usually say what you are assuming I said.

And what you assumed I said is not what I said at all.
If Corbyn has acquired compassion over the years then that is a good thing is it not?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:39:14

trisher we are trying to stay on the subject and not making personal remarks about other posters or slinging insults around as it doesn’t further the debate

GNHQ say that they have reminded a number of posters on here about this whitewave, so...

If this is the case - that GNHQ have sided with reports sent by you - then I think it is about time that the rest of us went back through this thread and reported every single real "personal comment" including yours Lemon. Start now everyone as I think it may take GNHQ some time to work through them. (Just to save you the bother Lemon I am reporting this post to GNHQ myself.)

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:41:27

Jalima my comment about being worried about post like the one you made was in reply to:

Funny, isn't it, he visits a shelter for a while and 'has compassion', the same man who was rubbing colleagues' noses in their own blood

It still seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:42:23

Yes, me too.
My post was just stating the truth.
smile

lemongrove Thu 04-Jan-18 19:42:39

GG are you saying that Corbyn will lose the next election?
The thing is, it isn’t nonsense that is put out about him but the simple truth.
I see Keir H as the next Labour Leader. Can Corbyn really hang on for almost another five years to a GE?
It’s not members who matter but voters. Most people don’t actually belong to a political party.
If Corbyn couldn’t win the last GE then I really can’t imagine he would in another few years time.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:42:42

Jen's post was in reply to the same one. I notice you very selectively report your own post with it's rubbing colleagues' noses in their own blood

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:43:14

confused

POGS Thu 04-Jan-18 19:43:35

"how many on the front bench have been sacked or had to resign, and the rest have their reputations in tatters now?"

Well I would hazard a guess a few less on the Conservative side than have been sacked or resigned from the Shadow Cabinet over the past couple of years actually.

As for reputations in tatters there are issues on both party sides and I think that is well worth remembering when trying to point score.

lemongrove Thu 04-Jan-18 19:45:58

The Conservatives aren’t popular at the moment, there have been difficult years, Brexit has split the Nation and the Conservatives led a disastrous GE campaign and put out a disappointing Manifesto, and yet if voters had really wanted Corbyn for PM it would have happened. It didn’t.

lemongrove Thu 04-Jan-18 19:49:04

I am sticking with the subject of politics GG sadly you are not.

durhamjen Thu 04-Jan-18 19:51:32

Isn't Keir H dead?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:51:51

No Jalima, as you know well I mean my comment on your despicable post - that is the post that is despicable not you - is a reasonable one.

durhamjen Thu 04-Jan-18 19:53:25

Lemon, that is NOT politics. It's attacking GracesGran.
You need to learn the difference.

whitewave Thu 04-Jan-18 19:53:29

The Tories are not only not popular at the moment, but they in fact have not won a substantial majority since 1987 that’s over 30 years.

A Brexit that will crash the economy will finish them off perhaps for ever.

lemongrove Thu 04-Jan-18 19:54:28

Meant Keir S ( Starmer) ...typing too fast.grin Hope he is still alive.

lemongrove Thu 04-Jan-18 19:55:57

That may be wishful thinking whitewave on your part.
It’s still a two party race.

durhamjen Thu 04-Jan-18 19:56:11

Yes, Jalima, I think that saying that Corbyn was rubbing his colleagues' noses in their own blood is pretty distasteful.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Jan-18 19:56:25

I only know what you posted Gracesgran ie your despicable post asking me Just how extreme can you be Jalima?

As anyone who knows me - and on here too I would add - I am anything but extreme.

Are you going to let this go now?

Happy New Year

Jalima1108 Thu 04-Jan-18 20:01:49

Ah well. Sometimes the truth is distasteful.

Happy New Year
smile

GracesGranMK2 Thu 04-Jan-18 20:18:01

It was your post that was extreme Jalima. I don't know you so I have no opinion about you.

Chewbacca Thu 04-Jan-18 20:18:41

Yes, Jalima, I think that saying that Corbyn was rubbing his colleagues' noses in their own blood is pretty distasteful
