It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

Nothing to do with UKIP could ever be described as ‘civil’.

whitewave Sun 14-Jan-18 10:55:54

jalima apparently yes. Isn’t that illegal? Why doesn’t the government tackle them head on? It is pathetic that so much publicity is given to such extreme views.

whitewave Sun 14-Jan-18 10:57:38

Is the fraudster, liar and racist still a member? I really can’t be bothered to look at anything about him.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:11:33

NF has his own radio show on LBC 4/5 days a week where he is completely free to spew out his ‘views’ - still I suppose he needs the money now the EU have caught up with him and are clawing back the ‘overpayments’.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 11:12:29

Really .Maryeliza? You listen to all the 9.00am morning news on all channels , radio and tv? that certaintly takes some concentration. But you obviously missed radio 4 9.00am news, they start with headlines of what will follow.

I posted at 9.03, the UKIP story had not been covered untill after that time, it was not top of the news .

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:14:40

whitewave shock
I'd better get my musket cleaned and ready.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:16:10

Well ab I only post when I’ve heard more than the headlines and checked that against another source. But there you go.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:21:21

And just to be clear, I was listening to R4 at 9 and the first headline was about Worboys and the second about the suspension of the UKIPs leader’s girlfriend for offensive texts. I’ll go so far as to say that I find it hard to believe that there was any headline anywhere that said ‘A female UKIP member has been suspended over racist texts’ and did not mention her ‘relationship’ with Henry

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:23:23

confused now, perhaps I should have listened to the news.

What relationship with Henry? I thought Meghan was in a relationship with Henry, who else?

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 11:26:10

Not correct Maryeliza.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:29:26

Checked.
All revealed, other Henry.
As you were.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:32:18

Other Henry: Politics:Ukip (joined in 2014 from Liberal Democrats)
He was a Lib Dem? Really?

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:33:38

jal Henry Bolton the esteemed and soon to be ex I would think UKIP leader. What wasn’t correct ab? I gave some facts and an opinion - my facts are true, my opinion was based on the likelihood of a headline not mentioning the relationship. Any news station that didn’t mention it in the headline would have a very strange take on news IMO. But either way,the relationship is the story and his refusal to comment is par for the course. And hearing the full story before posting is to be recommended IMO

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:34:34

Was he? Goodness me.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 11:36:13

Then you carry on posting the full story and I will continue to post as I choose without any recommendations on how to post and what to post.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:40:09

Well then don’t be surprised ab when you are taken to task for missing out a or rather the relevant point of the story.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:42:07

I suppose it’s absolutely fine ab for you to assert that I’ve said something not correct and then refuse to say what it was?

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:42:36

Yes, I have sussed that now Meliza!

I was thinking of Prince Henry.
Time for a coffee.

In fact, we hear more of Farage than we do of Henry Bolton, ex Lib Dem (really?).

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:50:06

I do truly find it astonishing how much airtime he gets on LBC ((Nigel not Henry(really)) - I wonder who owns it?

whitewave Sun 14-Jan-18 11:57:44

Undoubtedly a far right winger otherwise who else would tolerate such a fraudster, liar and racist.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 11:59:43

LBC part of the Global Group

Company Website: www.global.com

Global
Global Radio is the UK’s largest commercial radio company and is home to the biggest names in the business.

The group have apparently paid no corporation tax over the last five years as they make use of tax havens. <faints with amazement>

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 12:01:11

Do come off your desire to rule threads Maryeliza,

You said no news bulletins led with a story of a female posting racists comments without speaking of her connection with the UKIP leader, the radio 4 news headlines did not mention this, it was spoken of when the news reader read the full story not in the leading headlines of what was coming up in the news.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 12:06:41

*In February 2009 Global and LBC were the subject of criticism by technical and scientific bloggers following their threat of legal action against medical journalist Ben Goldacre for publishing part of an LBC 97.3 broadcast by Jeni Barnett on his website.[36] The move was interpreted as an attempt to suppress criticism and debate rather than enforcement of copyright.

The broadcast was described as irresponsible by David Aaronovitch in The Times, and LBC and Barnett were specifically identified in a critical Early Day Motion by Norman Lamb MP.

In May 2015 Global was criticised for dropping coverage of the HSBC tax story in February that year. Coverage of the story was resumed "some days later".[37]a*

The 9am news on R4 was exactly as I said

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 12:14:12

And the 6am, 7am, 8am R4 news headlines were all the same - led with Worboys and followed by UKIP story. Repeating false information on posts doesn’t make it true ab it just makes for a rather silly post.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 12:15:12

And who knew that posting the truth was aka a ‘desire to rule threads’?
