I think filming everything is fairly common everywhere these days, so I wouldn't have imagined that the incident was deliberately staged. The details you have given are appaling jura2 and I think spreading the information about how they are being treated is the Palestinians only hope now. As for all those who are posting about how some Palestinians have vowed to kill all Jews, there are extremists in every culture. How would you feel if the UK was judged on the views of the EDL? Once justice is established and people are free from oppresion they tend to move to less extremist views.

As far as hate goes there are some Israelis who would happily see all Palestinians killed. The hate isn't just one sided. The big difference is that the Israelis have the authority and the power to carry things through.

That's my view too. And I also agree with an earlier poster who said that the allocation of the Holy Land to the Jews in 1948 was a well-meaning mistake.
For centuries previously Jews, Muslims and Christians had shared the Land more more less amicably. Most of the troubles came from other countries interfering and taking over the running of the country.

Perhaps some of the names appeared out of nowhere due to the fact that the subject was listed in the daily email that gransnet sends out to subscribers.
Maybe some of you would like to vet our credentials to see if we are worthy of posting.

The following exchange between two 10 year olds was overheard by a friend as they filed out. "What was that all about then?". "Oh, just Jews. They don't matter."

It was in the UK, Jalima. I'm sure (well, I sincerely hope) that the support group had the best of intentions, but I don't think children of this age could possibly understand the rights and wrongs of the situation. In fact, how many of us can?

There is a very good (extremely bad and sad) reason why some of those kids look much older than they are, and behave in a non child manner- that is what happens when you have to learn to survive, to fight even, to grow up much before your time- because of oppression and war.

As Jane says- how anyone who sees those peoples lands, olive groves, taken and destroyed- their villages torn up to be replaced by illegal settlements- can say it is alarmist (?!?) and puts them off the Palestinian cause- well I just don't know.

You cannot discuss this without looking at the actions of Hamas. They are the politically elected leaders of some Palestinians. What do you expect to happen when you elect a terrorist organisation to represent you? They've bombed Fatah, now they are breaking into factions and bombing each other.

I think when the default response to not getting what you want is a bomb, it's pretty difficult to sympathise with some romanticised version of ownership of an olive tree.

Not talking about romantic olive trees (I did have 2 stolen from the entrance of our house in the UK...) - but talking about acres and acres of ancient olive groves- which represent the main living and income for those families.

70.000 homes destroyed too and all replaced with 1000s of small towns and settlements - in illegally occupied land.

What else can Palestinians do, apart from fight?
